Quote from GrIp DrIvEr :I would actually love to try out a Vauxhall. But with what bunder says, yeah give GM 10 years and they'll be shutting their doors. Neither Saab or Pontiac actually did fail... the market just did. Like FlyMike said, Ford is really kicking some serious ass! I have actually liked Ford for a long time, and I'm actually impressed at their face lifted Mustang, Fusion, and Edge. I bet Ford will be the last car brand for America in about 15 years, and Ford will still be going strong.

You do get some Vauxhalls over there. The 2007 Vauxhall Astra that was sold here is called the Saturn Astra over there.

If it's anything like the one we get here, then it will be equally terrible. Hard plastics in the interior, etc. etc.

The interior may well be much different though. For example, the MK1 Ford Focus (These ones) were much worse cars over there. In the UK, they come with leather all over the dashboard/plastics and everything is put together much better. In the US, the dashboards are standard hard plastic, and they typically fall apart.

Quote from shaun463 :Redundant brand - Vauxhall? You must be joking! It is one of the most important brands in the UK, and now Vauxhall / Opel are making some great cars, like the Zafira, New Astra and Insignia. Yes they are the same as Opel, but the brand of Vauxhall used to be one of the most respected British brands ever.

Haha. Don't be so silly.

Vauxhalls are bloody crap. The Zafira, Astra and Insignias are not great cars. There awful cars. The interiors are cheap and tacky, and they all (Yes all. I have driven all 3 you have mentioned) handle like crap. There no where near there rivals.

Also, i think you mean Mondeo ST200. The Cougar ST200 was never put into production.

It's funny that you guys are talking about Pads VS. Wheels, as i tried out the Fanatec wheel last night. My friend is a sim fanatic, and ordered it months and months ago, and it finally arrived Monday. He gave me a call last night saying he has got it all setup and if i want to try it out.

First thing i done was drive a Ford Fiesta round Benchmark just to get used to the Clutch and Force Feedback. Surprisingly, i got used to it very quickly. With a wheel, it does feel very close to LFS. The Fiesta felt like the XFG, especially on slow tight turns. Lift off oversteer felt fantastic!

Next car i jumped into was an E36 M3, as i wanted to see how close it felt to the one i have on my driveway. I bought a completely stock one, and drove it on Silverstone. I was a little skeptical about how close it would feel to my car, but i was pleasantly surprised. The car felt incredibly close, and I'm not trying to say this as a fan boy either. It really was VERY close to my car.

It wasn't all perfect though. The car would understeer a fair bit on some corners, which wouldn't happen in mine at the same speeds on a similar corner. Maybe fiddling with the tyre pressures would have fixed this. The M3 in-game felt alot stiffer than mine too. Maybe, this could of been down to the fact that the M3 in FM3 is a Coupe, and mine is a Convertible. I suppose the Coupe would have less chassis flex, and i *think* the Convertible has slightly softer suspension to cope with the extra weight from strengthening the chassis.

Overall, i would rate the wheel a 8/10 and the similarity with my real car easily a 9/10.

I am seriously considering buying a Fanatec. I just need that £400....

Don't really care to be honest. I certainly don't care so much about it that i would argue with him for 2 hours.

To be honest, he is no different in terms of fanboyism than YOU are with VAG's.

Agree with what exactly? Yes, Dawes can be a Troll sometimes and he tries to start flame wars (which he has successfully done with you!) but you just learn to live with it in the end. Ignore him and he wont reply, as he wont be getting a reaction from you.

Live and let live.

I don't see the problem with it tbh. The water will evaporate off the throttle body pretty quickly, due to the hot air from the engine (once it has warmed up) and the air from moving will blow most the water off.

E: Don't do what a friend done and tip HOT water over your windscreen. Not unless you want a new windscreen of course.

It's not a Chevelle.

I do get a hint of American about it though. I thought it might have been a Camaro?

I don't personally believe it is Global warming. While i agree that we, as a human race, are slowly destroying the atmosphere with our cars and other polluting objects, i think what we are seeing now (irregular weather at irregular times) is the weather cycle shifting. I think given enough time, we may be seeing cold weather a little later into the year instead of earlier.

Quote from kiste :

Wow. That is very impressive! I love the little touches like the air vent on the front bumper. Looks realistic!

I've saved the skin to my HD ready for when the Scirocco is released.

Well done.

Quote from tristancliffe :Except that it wouldn't! It would take that long to reach about 95% of the speed of light. Then that long again to reach 99%, then that long again to reach 99.9%, then that long again to reach 99.99%........

Oh dear, thats one thing I'm not looking forward to.

My brother hardly uses his PS3, and hasn't been online with it in since he first got it back in '07. When he did put it online, he only had to do a small size update, yet it still took a catastrophic ammount of time to install. I wonder how long it will take to install the huge update he will have to download tomorrow when we play it.

Quote from CoolColJ :it sounds like the real thing to me, same character, baring in mind the effects of mics and compression and mixing a stereo source down to mono. And the tyre sounds are almost exactly the same!

see 1:02 for example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr4nOickyDo

I just watched the GT5 vid and the vid you posted above back to back, and i don't agree. Don't sound that close to be honest, and the tyre squeal sounds nothing like the tyre sound in the video you posted.

I still don't get while the tyres squeal under heavy braking either? Something GT has always done.

But still, I'm looking forward to trying this out.

Does anyone else think the Lambo SV670 thing sounds like it has an exhaust heat shield loose at around 4k? I was driving it on Amalfi, and it was really annoying me. I suppose the cobble stones on Amalfi could have caused it, but i don't think FM has exhaust shield rattle noises.
