€4-5k? Are you sure, or are you just talking out of your arse again? From what I recall of your previous posts about your technical "knowledge", I'm going to go with the latter. Even dealers are charging less than that for a completely new 7 speed!
Since moving to Ireland, I have rebuilt plenty of DSG's. In fact, I'm usually building at least two a month. During these builds, the one that I've charged the most for was €3200+VAT, and that was for a full rebuild including the replacement of the mechatronics module, de-contamination and a 12,000 mile/12 months warranty. Maybe that's why I've been so busy since moving here. You are scaring all your customers away by charging them such a ludicrous ammount, and as a result, they are coming to me! Thanks for that mate!
Anyway, seeing as I should stay on topic. Gave my Lexus a proper going over the other day as it hasn't been touched in ages due to the work load I've been getting. Glad I done it now though, as I hate having a dirty car!
Few befores...
Now for the afters. Car has a 2BM Wash using Wookie Mitts, and had a Snowfoam soak beforehand. Wheels and tyres were washed using Meguiars Wheelz, and the car was then dried with an air line. No polish was put on as I will be doing a full paint correction on the car after it has the rear wing resprayed in the new year. For now, I've just put on two coats of Dode Juice Black Haze wax. Interior was vacuumed and plastics were dressed, but forgot to take pictures of this.
I'm really happy with the results and I think that for a nearly 14 year old car, it looks pretty good! Unfortunately, I still hate driving the bloody thing and cant wait to get rid of it once the my 12 month ownership enforcement from the Irish government (WHO I BLOODY HATE!) is up!
Oh, update on the Honda btw. All the welding that it needed doing to stop the water entering the cabin has been done. Just waiting on some more free time before I can order some of the NCT parts and get the registration process started. Can't wait!
Just a couple from me as I have been doing more painting instead of taking photos.
My awesome little Twingo that I use specifically for Autocross. Tune is available on my storefront for free whenever you guys wanna try it.
Taking the inside line at Suzuka circuit. It didn't end to well!
Now time to showoff my paints. First up is my Reyland Escort Cosworth.
My 1987 Eggenburger Texaco Cosworth. This one took me a while, but I'm very proud of it and from what I can see from the storefront, it's the mose accurate replica on FM4! Most people appear to have just slapped some red stripes on the side of the car and put "texaco" down the sides. Haha!
Hope you like them guys. Both my paintjobs are FREE and any others I make will be too. If you wish to get them, just search for my Gamertag "cossieburn". Also, if you could rate them that would be fantastic.
I will take another look for you Jamie, but I came across a pack of stickers on either wheelwhores or ebay, that said "winter rimz yo!".
I recently bought some standard alloys for my Lexus to replace the current ones while they get refurbed. I was going to put loads of the winter rimz stickers on them!
Jesus wept....Don't you guys have anything better to talk about? It would be nice if this thread was kept on the topic of GTA V...not about who has the superior machine.
You must of misunderstood me. I was saying that every other GTA incarnation except for 1,2,london and IV have used the same engine.
SA and IV have no similarities what so ever. Rockstar started a ten year deal with the euphoria guys back in 2008, so you will probably find that V will use the same character animation engine, which is fine as Euphoria is awesome. Whether Rockstar uses the same physics and collision engine is yet to be confirmed. As I said before, my only gripes with IV was the low gravity and very soft car suspension. If they fix that, I'll be happy....if they don't, I will still buy it!
Just like I thought....according to the interwebs, I am right. Every one from GTA 3 up until the last "gta:stories" rubbish has used the same "RenderWare" game engine. As the years went on, they were able to get more out of it, hence why San Andreas looks similiar to 3, but does have better 3D modelling etc.
I thought it was pretty common knowledge they all used the same engine? For a start, they all look very similiar, and not to mention the same physics calculations on a lot of things. Ever notice how civilians always had the same death animations no matter what sequel?
I'm pretty sure Gta 3, Vice City, San Andreas and all the others upto IV used the same game engine for physics and graphics. It just got tweaked as the years went by and the technology advanced.
I'm excited about V. Even without viewing the trailer, I can confidently say I will buy this. Rockstar have always made games that I enjoy.
Rockstar still has licensing rights to the Euphoria engine until 2018, so that will most likely be uses, which is fine as its a great engine. As long as there is no more low gravity, or cars with uber soft suspension...
I'm a bit miffed. I spent over 2 hours trying to beat a guy in rivals mode who had a 200k bounty. Eventually I beat his time, and went to the credits screen. However, I only received 3,548 credits...I then tried another rivals match. I got 51 credits instead of 10,000.
I've also noticed that when viewing an event in the world tour, instead of saying mystery bonus/affinity bonus in the lower right corner, it just throws up a load of symbols. Even if I win the event, i barely win any credits.
You think he stuffed the figures? My dog could tell he stuffed the figures....
I highly doubt it depends on the engine either. If it's a stock naturally aspirated engine, you will almost never see any worthwhile results from just a remap.
Funny story, but I actually caught out that remapping fellow when he tried to sell his work. First i let him babble on about how he could give my cars more power AND economy, makes them more reliable etc...He then pointed to the Lexus and said "the engines in them are well tunable mate. I could easily get at least 50hp out of that...". "Wow really?" i said. "Just out of curiousity, how would you cover the inevitable damage caused to my gearbox after you have given it over 50hp more to handle? The clutch plates on these transmissions are pretty weak, and aren't really made to handle anymore than the standard 220 or so horsepower." He then laughed in my face and said "Haha. What you talking about? Just fit a racing paddle clutch or something.". This guy really must be a genius if he can fit a paddle clutch to an Auto!!
I then decided give myself another laugh. "I'm planning on getting the cylinder head on the Honda overhauled after christmas to gain a few horses. I will be porting and polishing the head, and fitting some upgraded cams/valves etc. I've discovered that the standard Honda OBD E.C.U system is pretty much untouchable to map changes. Therefore I need to fit independent engine management like Hondata and find someone to make a map for it....". With a blank look on his face, he said "Umm, ok. Well if you get it fitted and wired up, bring it to me. I will turn up the air and fuel mixture. Will have it running lovely.".
At this point I was trying not to roll on the floor in tears of laughter. I politely took one of his business cards (which politely went in the bin) and said I would be in touch. It's a scary thought that that guy has probably done some "remaps" on someones car before and has ****ed it up.
I didn't think that Nationality or Race would make someone so RETARDED, that they lack any common sense or respect.
Edit: Joke all you like Seb. If you dont mind people doing that to your car, then fine. I however like to look after my cars paint, so if I saw someone nudging it with there cars bumper, which will cause scratches or scuffs, I think I am well within my rights to lose my temper.
Don't believe everything some of these "tuners" say though. I had one guy say that from just a remap, I could easily get a 50hp gain from the Honda and Lexus, despite the fact they are both Naturally Aspirated and would be unlikely to get a 5hp gain, let alone a 50hp one.
If I saw you touching my car while parking yours, I would go bloody mental. Even if you caused no scratches (which is very unlikely...) is regardless. Sounds to me like you have no respect for other peoples property.
Haha, it's a fair point. My buddy suggested doing it for a picture to put on Facebook. I only accepted due to the fact that the bonnet has faded, and will need replacing when the car gets resprayed as it has caused contamination.
Trust me, once it's resprayed, no longer will i allow my lady friends to put there handbags on the trunk (which has metal decorations which scratch the paint...damn women!!) or allow my buddys to lean on it.
In fact, it's quite nice having a car with bad paint. You don't have to worry about someone dinging it in the car park, or worry about scratches it will inevitably pick up. The Lexus is a different story. The bodywork is 98% pristine. Therefore I detail it every week, park it away from other cars. Infact, i even get annoyed if someone rests on it while putting there greasy hands. I will only be the same with the Honda once it is resprayed...i cant see that making me popular!
Oh right. I watched a video of some American fella who done it to his Civic. He said that he used 4-5 cans at $4 a can. The Accords wheels need a refurb, so I was going to try it out for a laugh....not at £15 a can though!
Will have to have a chat with my local supplier here in Ireland and see if he can get it cheaper, but I doubt it.
