Currently in talks with some guys from the US about parts that may be available for my Engine. They use a F22B1 and F23A1 in there Accords. They put out less power than my 2.0 F20B6, but the blocks are the same. I'm curious whether I could retro fit US parts onto my UK engine.
Either that or I fit in a H22A7 from the Type R Accord....
According to my handbook and the owners club, it is intentional. Granted it's a little agricultural, but it works well. It even says in the handbook that "large shocks" will disable the cruise control in case of an accident.
Darn it, I wish I didn't say anything now as people are still missing my point...
I know that some cars are still able to have full use of the accelerator while cruise control is enabled. My point was that a lot of cars I have driven disable the cruise control when you touch the throttle pedal. For example, my GS disables it, as does an A-Class at work, my brothers Megane etc. etc. I was just happy that my Honda is one of the cars that doesn't disable it.
As for this...
Unfortunately, you are wrong. My Honda (as well as every other 6th Gen Accord I have driven.) has incredibly sensitive micro switches on the brake and clutch pedal. Yes, large bumps will disable it. The reason they are so sensitive is because they will pickup the bumps if you stray off the road (Clip a kerb, for example.) and then disable the cruise control. That way, if you fall asleep and go off the road, the cruise control wont stay set at 80mph and smash you into a house.
I know that some cars accelerate with the Cruise Control enabled, but a lot of cars I have driven disable the Cruise Control even if you press the accelerator. I was just happy that mine is one of them that doesn't disable the Cruise Control. Don't worry, I don't think my car is special just because of that.
Wow! I remember playing this when I was a little (I couldn't of been any older than 5?) boy on my Dads computer at work. I loved it, but would always scream when that monster turned up.
Cruise Control? Well of course, I'm not saying I'm new to using Cruise Control as I have used it many times before.
My point was that I didn't realize I could use the accelerator to speed up, and still have it enabled. A lot of cars I have driven with Cruise Control will disable it if you press any of the pedals, where as my Honda only disables it when you press the brake or clutch pedal.
Sometimes I cannot help but laugh at some of them, I must admit. I've seen people stick Turbo badges on there otherwise standard Ford Escort 1.4 LX. :/
On Topic: Just got back from doing some shopping, and found a pretty cool feature on my car. It has cruise control, and whenever I had to overtake someone that is only doing 2-3 mph less, I thought I had to cancel the cruise control, overtake, then re-enable it.
However, I found out that I can still overtake with it enabled and without having to fiddle with the preset. I can simply press the accelerator to overtake. Then when I release the pedal, the car settles down again and will enable the cruise control by itself when it reaches the preset speed. The only time it turns off is when you hit a bump (potholes will disable it) or if you even breath on the pedals.
Cannot believe it has taken this long to discover it, but I'm very happy I have. Makes Motorway driving much easier. xD
ARGH! Nothing I hate more then people mis badging cars. There's a guy near me with an old civic that has huge Mugen stickers at the bottom of the doors, even though his car contains nothing to do with Mugen.
Well, this style of Honda Accord is not available in the US. This Accord is a European only model, with my particular one being built here in the UK.
The American Accords and European Accords have nothing in common apart from the V6 Engines and Gearboxes.
@ Doyal. LOL! I see your point.
@ P5YcHoM4N. I suppose, but I'm really not a fan of just the H. I may bite the bullet and take them all off apart from the H, and see what I think. I could always stick them back on!
Heres some shots I took of my Accord in the sunset yesterday. I think they turned out quite well despite being taken on my crappy Samsung mobile phone.
Also, I want your guys opinion on something. I've been wanting to de-badge the rear for quite a while, and after having a quick play with Photoshop, I think it looks alright. What do you guys think?
I only found it useful during long motorway journeys at night. Due to the fact that the night time button also turns off every other light in the interior (heater controls etc.), it means you only have one area to focus on and there is also less glare coming from the other lights. Makes it much easier to concentrate.
I hate VAGS with a passion, but I've always been a fan of the Golfs clocks. Lovely blue hint to them. I find it relaxing whenever I am driving a Golf at night.
EDIT: Saabs night button was nice too. You ever seen it? You press a button on the dashboard, and IIRC, all that is left lit up is the speedo but it's very dim. Then whenever the fuel gets too low, or the engine too hot, everything lights up again to let you know. It's awesome!
Plus, it would of made more sense if he said "Either way, the point remains is that those lights on your car look will crap!" but that's just being picky.
I only had my Moped for 6 months Jamie, and done a max of 100 miles on it? Only reason I got it was because my friend gave it to me for fitting a clutch to his 206, which only cost me £60 for the clutch kit and a couple of hours fitting. I then sold the Moped for £650, so can't moan at that can you?!
My first car was a Mini 1275GT, which I bought for £200 when I was 13. It was a wreck, but it turned out a real nice car in the end. I really miss it sometimes.
Whether you still own the Corsa does not matter. Deciding to buy that horrific shed still made you a Chav, so I shall stick to my comment.
Anyway, thanks again for your input (Not sure how black headlights would make me a cock, but still...) but I shall decide on them later. Every time I see pictures, I think they look lovely!
Yum! I think they would go lovely with my cars lip kit.
