Quote from E.Reiljans :I'm more confused about him having 600hp engine in a FWD supermini.

Well that ones a no brainer...he doesn't!

He once tried to convince me that he had a VW Polo with a gearbox and differential from a Lorry. Problem is, most people on this forum know that I recondition gearboxes and differentials for a living...I was the wrong person to try and convince.

He's full of cow poop. Found his blog, where he says he has a 600hp Peugeot 206 (600!!!) and is 19 years old (but looks 12 in his profile picture) yet his LFS profile says he is 16.

Idiot.

Edit: I'm also still confused as to how an amplifier can have a subwoofer and a tweeter built in....

Quote from MattsterGT :3 subs

gold plated 3.5mm cables
gold plated 6.35mm cables
Guitar Amplifier
7 tweeters...
amp doubles as a tweeter and a sub so...8.4 surround sound...hense why I wanted the software.

I'm confused...You have all this audio equipment, yet no idea how to use it. Most media players will have a equalizer which allows you to adjust the frequencies.

I have a couple of questions for you, if you can answer them.

Why have you decided to buy 7 tweeters and yet no mids? Tweeters are made for high tones, and are especially good at helping to enhance things like voices, snares and many other things. However, as you have nothing to deal with the medium frequencys, I can only imagine that any song you play will sound like crap as there is no way for your system to deal with the crossover from a low-medium or medium-high frequency.

I am only asking this as I am genuinely intrigued, as I have never heard of such a creation despite building systems for many years...How the hell is your amplifier acting as not just an amplifier, but also a tweeter and a subwoofer?? Thinking of how it would work is boggling my brain.

Unfortunately Mattster, you have told many lies in the past which you have needlessly tried to convince people about, like that 700hp+ VW Polo you had which had a differential and gearbox from a Lorry...Oh thats right you eventually confessed it was a lie...Due to the reputation you have built yourself, I think that your audio setup is most probably a lie. Please prove me wrong!

Hopefully you will grow out of this attention seeking flaw you seem to have, as all the time you spend thinking of your next cool lie to tell people, could be spent on actually working towards getting a real 700hp VW Polo, or a real speaker system with a stupid amount of tweeters.

Harsh I know, but best to snap out of it soon. Otherwise, your gonna end up as a balding 50 year old fat man, trying to convince everyone on your favorite chatroom that you are infact a 14 year old school girl.

Quote from Klutch :single pegger burnouts are not brag worthy...just sayin.

A rusty RX-7 isn't either, but hey we all make mistakes.

No but seriously, no bragging goin' on there chap. Just wanted to share my mishap.

@ Dan. You got off much lighter than me pal! Luckily I don't do that sort of thing in the Lexus too often. For a start, it's a barge with a crappy open diff which is made for cruising not drifting, and secondly, it's had Bridgestone Potenzas fitted quite recently which at 235/45/18 (IIRC) wasn't cheap! I could literally see the dollar signs in the smoke!

*flamesuit on*

Out in the Lexus earlier having some fun with the TCS turned off. Came out of a junction sideways, which then turned into a "one wheel peel" thanks to the crappy open-diff so I kept the throttle planted, and giggled at the huge trail of smoke left behind me. Luckily there was no one else around except for a couple of pedestrians...and a police car.

The policeman said that he thinks I've been drifting. "Impossible! This cars got an open diff. It won't drift trust me..." I don't think that helped, as I now need to go to my local station to show them my documents and hand over a €250 fine.

Ah well. It was fun while it lasted.

Hey guys. Despite the fact that my Storefront was completely ruined by trolls lately, I have decided NOT to let it get to me. As a result, I have decided to carry on making paintjobs for FM4, even if the trolls come back and ruin my storefront again.

First up is a JDM EK9 Civic. It doesn't show up too much in the pictures, but I have gave it carbon fibre trim/bonnet/boot/roof/lip kit and some JDM stickers. Looks great, and will do other colours on request.

Next up is my Reyland paintjob grafted onto the Mk1 Ford Focus. Simple enough paintjob, but looks nice and now means you can have the full set of Reyland cars in FM4.

This one is similiar to one I made in FM3, which was very popular and even became the highest rated paintjob for the XKR-S and XFR! It's a replica of Jaguars R1 F1 car used in the 2000 season.

This last one is one that I am very proud of. It's took me around 20 hours in total, with everything being made by myself. It's a 100% exact replica of the 2003 Castrol WRC Focus, as driven by Markko Martin and Michael Park in the "Rallye De France".

And of course, this is what a WRC car is made to do...

Thank you for reading. All these paintjob are available for FREE on my storefront. Just simply search for my gamertag "cossieburn". I hope you enjoy seeing my paintjobs as much as I enjoyed making them.

Regards,
Nathan

EDIT: Oh btw, I have since added hood pins to the bonnet and boot of the WRC Focus since taking those photos. Make sure to check it out!

I never said bushes? I was talking about where the subframe seperates from the rear of the car.

Obviously it's nearly impossible to diagnose over the internet, but I thought that Dans ride height issue could be down to the rear subframe mounting points failing, which we all know is a very common (I myself have repaired 4!) problem on the E46.

I assume you checked this when changing the springs Dan?

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Either way not really interested in girls like that, so yeah - it's like a gaybar.

Even if they weren't lesbians, I wouldn't go near them. Half of them in the pictures look rough, and the majority look like the type that'll "boil your bunny" if you ever pissed them off!

Just saw your sig....you nobber.

Quote from Klutch :You have a habit of missing points.

Not really. For someone like Jamie, and 95% of other people on this forum, I will always reply to them and enjoy having some banter with them.

As for you, well I don't really give a shit about you, or what you think, hence why I didn't give you a proper response. If you have a problem with that, then go to one of your gay bars (shit sorry, i meant raves!) and have a dance. Might make you feel better.

Quote from Klutch :So you do your car up to please your grandmother and pull chicks, huh?

And here i was thinking people modified their cars because it was fun..

Oh yeah totally. I love impressing my Gran with my car. I put them chrome wheels and s/s exhaust on my Lexus to impress my Gran bro!

Quote from S14 DRIFT :^ lol.

To be fair Nathan as long as the guy who owns it thinks it looks cool then that's his choice. I don't think you'd be happy if people mocked you for having a Lexus or remember that Max-Power Escort you had?

I agree, as long as he likes it then thats all that matters. It's just some trends like rat look or whatever, are the ones I don't get. Why would you make your car look worse?? And for the 100th time, it was a Mondeo!....MONDEO!!!!!

Oh, and as for the Lexus, I've had some hate towards but it bothers me none. Most people just say I look like a drug dealer when driving it! As soon as this stupid government thing is taken off my car (6 months left. Woop!), the Lexus is going straight to a scrapyard. Then I might buy something sensible. Integra Type R's are very cheap over here....*scratches chin*

How awesome would that look. My Accord and an ITR parked on the drive.

Well judging from your reactions on this thread, they only said they like it because they didn't want to hurt your feelings as you will just run off crying!

No but seriously, they probably just said it so that you didn't think they were horrible. Plenty of people do it, including me!

But haters aren't people who hate anything and everything?

The style you have gave that car is very specific to yourself and as a result, barely anyone else would like it.

I don't like it because as Jack says, it looks like you've had an accident and had it repaired by someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Also, over here you would certainly grab the polices attention.

You may think it looks cool, but I am willing to bet my left testicle that your Grandma and any future lovers that you (won't) gain the interest of, will all think it's a beat up, old, rusty BMW and they wouldn't want to be seen dead in it.

Each to there own and all that, but I think I will stick to having cars that don't make me look like an idiot who doesn't look after his car.

Depends what Golf you have driven. The Mk4 is rubbish, the Mk5 is far better. Actually can feel what's going on underneath you. The Mk6 is better still but I've yet to try.

I've driven a fair few of the models, and pretty much all of them left me feeling cold, especially the lower spec models. The only models I enjoyed was a Mk5 R32 and a Mk6 R.

The R32 was nice, but didn't enjoy corners. When pushing it to the limit, it would just understeer, and you could really feel.

The R was very nice. Boring engine sound, but still pulled hard and had plenty of power, and looked nice in white with the black wheels and the interior was well designed. Still not something I would buy myself though.

As for the Mk4's and below...well, I'm sure everyone here knows how crap they are!

It looks like a standard 318i indeed...one that is fresh out of a scrapyard! :o

No seriously, it looks awful and I have no idea why your headlights are yellow AND taped up, but if you like it then thats all that matters.

Personally, I enjoy it, quite a lot infact. I love the social aspects of it like the storefront, and the fact that everyone else who plays the game is as passionate about cars as you are.

Compared to Forza 3, the career part is much better too. In FM3, it was just race after race which quickly became tedious. In Forza 4 however, there are a lot more modes that break it up, like autocross, trackday modes and much more. Rivals mode online is epic too (Damn you Danowat! ).

In short, just buy the damn thing! It's fantastic fun, and I am sure you will love the physics.

Edit: Forgot to add, make sure you have plenty of space left on your hard drive. Forza 4 is a big game!

I've named all my cars. My Honda is a "she" and is called Tess. I personally do believe cars have personalitys, and used to give her encouraging pats on the dashboard back when she had starting issues, which are now thankfully resolved.

The only one I haven't named is my Lexus. While I appreciate it is a lovely car that is uber reliable, it justs leave me with an emotionless feeling. Maybe I am the only one, but I get the same feeling when driving a VAG, like a Golf (not a dig at you Jamie!) or an A4. Sure, they are pretty reliable and are great for getting you from A-B, but they are just so boring to drive. Excluding the fruity V6's, they sound like washing machines, have steering number than a porn actresses arse and have less character than a brick.

Seems like every car is like it nowadays too. Honda have wiped Type-R's off the map, Fords RS department is out of touch with themselves and Audi is still making cars that love to understeer. Seems like the only guys who are making cars that require some level of driver input to drive fast, is BMW!

Personally, only a couple of the 100 or so DSG's that I have rebuilt have had a mechatronics failure. Most have just had the typical wear and tear problems, like clutch plate wear/failure or borked solenoids.

Ah well, guess I've just been lucky. I will say though that no matter what it is, unless you have hand first hand experience of it, you only seem to find nothing but horror stories about stuff on the internet!

Thats one of the reasons I decided to do Gearboxes over here tbh. For a starter, in the UK there is a guy round every corner who has got a set of spanners for his birthday and now thinks he can rebuilds gearboxes and offers to do so for pennies. Then, you get the guys who bring there car to you and you instantly diagnose the fault on that particular car as it's a common issue and the car is showing the correct symptoms. They then come back the next day and say "well i've been on the internet and one guy said this and another said that...." ARGH!!

Sure, in Ireland there are still a few people like that, but there are much fewer. Even before we advertised, we had people coming from the other side of the country to have us repair there gearbox and that was from word of mouth!

The only thing I hate here, is the car laws. Tax is €1300 a year for the Lexus...Count yourself lucky you dont have your Golf here Jamie. Would cost you a grand! The insurance is the only thing that does good here though. Traders policy was £5k last renewal, where as I am paying €1350 or so a year now, which is a great price imo for someone who has just 2 years no claims.

Gah that turned into a rant. My bad.

When you say "electronic", what do you mean exactly? If you mean the whole wiring loom for the solenoids and what not, then yes it would cost much more than £3k.

However, the one that I rebuilt did not have a loom failure. It just required a rebuild, new mechatronics unit and a new top main bearing as the original failed which is a common problem on DSG's.

This particular rebuild was quite straight forward. I simply stripped and inspected the box and cleaned everything neccesary, and then proceeded to fit new bearings, clutch plates and modified solenoids. I then reassemble the box and give it a few coats of paint, not only to improve the appearance but also as a way to recognise the boxes incase they suffer a problem after the rebuild. Out of the €3200 or so that I charged the customer, €1200 was for parts.

You need to bare in mind that even though I am very capable of doing so, I don't remove or fit the gearboxes anymore. I simply pick up the gearbox or they bring it to me, I recondition it, and they then pay me. To be honest, I may look into doing fitting again as me and my father will soon be expanding, but for now I love doing it on my workbench and there is a silly ammount of work here for me, so I'm in no rush. I'm already fully booked for January!
