Quote from Kristi :Sorry to say but, whoever watches /w 1 command...It isnt really important.

Quote from zeugnimod :But you did get the win. On that server, in your class. Who cares about one win more or less in the stats on LFSW?

Do you two think that having class wins in stats is actually a bad idea? I agree it's not the most important thing in the world but if we're going to have stats they may as well be correct.

Quote from Matrixi :This is what I was wondering about in the other (in my opinion, much less offensive) thread which got mysterylocked quite rapidly soon after.

What happened to the good releases this year? Another plan/priority change is my strong guess.

Yeah, Scawen talked about this in the last 1 or 2 update posts, where fixing one thing lead to another, and another, etc. It's pretty obvious that he *meant* to finish the tire physics this year but it turned into a much more complex thing than he had originally thought.

For those unsure of what I'm referring to, (re)read this thread/post. If people still are upset about this I'll personally get dekojester to come around and personally facepalm at them.

Quote from morpha :Classes would need to be synchronised between LFSW/Masterserver and individual hosts, especially when restrictions are applied. Even so I think this is a good idea, so +1 from me

Even if you didn't bother with restrictions it would be better than it is now. MoE would still be messed up but TBO+STD, GTR+TBO, and FO8+FOX would be fixed. That's certainly a step in the right direction.

With multiclass racing LFSW may count someone who gets a "1st place" as far lower than 1st because there is another class of cars also racing.

It seems like it would be fairly easy to put different classes in the classifications.

It's really deserved.

Quote from DevilDare :5tag.

Dmt is also a great one, however, it is more a "racing" shot/edit. Doesnt really show endurance IMO.

But then again, night shots do get boring.

Dmt's shot is from a MoE race.

Quote from TexasLTU :In 10 years, 70% of us won't even remember what is LFS.

I'm sure this is just a coincidence but that's only slightly more than the percentage of demo users online at any given time.

This seems like a good idea that needs a bit more to really be useful. A few things I wish it had (maybe these are on a to-do list already, I don't know):
  • Have specific hosts hidden or not. I don't mind people seeing most of my hosts, but there's one or two hidden/private ones I'd like to add.
  • Display server info up front, so I can quickly look to see which on my list is most populated
  • Sort by server population
Take a look at Sonicrealms Racing's new look for the server stats. I'm not asking for something this fancy but it would be nice to have all that information displayed without clicking the info link for each server.

Quote from Dmt :Its just few people cant keep up to the updates and it will die, for example its DX10 already but LFS is still 6, if im wrong then 7

Wrong on both, DX11 is out (came with windows 7) and LFS is DX8.1 I'm pretty sure.

Quote from JeffR :I wonder about the future of computer games. My gut tells me that the heydays of racing games and perphaps PC based games in general was 2003 -> 2007, and it's diminishing now. I'm wondering if iRacing will survive more than a few years, if rFactor 2 will reach even 1/2 the sales of rRafctor, if the NFS series end with the planned 2010 releases, if there ever be an LFS S3 (what was it supppose to have that S2 didn't?), if there will be any more TombRaider games, ... A lot of game production simple stopped or slowed to a crawl in the last 2 or 3 years. Already I've seen the demise of the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic series (there will never be a III). Half-Life 2 Episode 3 will be nothing like the previous 2 games.

This is just silly. Computer games are not dying and never will. Sometimes series die out and are replaced by newer ones, just like TV shows do. You may feel the same way about TV, that it's all crap today (I know I do), but it is what it is, and that doesn't mean that there's less of it or less viewers.

There will always be racing games, maybe during 2015-2020 there will be a bunch of really good ones, or a bunch of really trashy lowest-common-denominator types, but I can guarantee you that there WILL be racing games then, and plenty of people will play them.

Quote from NunoMike :As I said before, I bought S2 some weeks ago and this is something I have to say that really disappointed me. I understand there is a server with the focus on some type of car (GTR, TBO, SS) or some type of racing (Drift, rallycross). What bugs me is the same server with the same track over and over again.

I get bored playing in the same track all night, so what to say if I see all week or a whole month with the same car/track combo.

There are something like 40 different tracks in LFS, counting reverse. I really think it doesn't have to be so monotunous...

Two of the top three in that image (Fox Junkies and Ironhorse) run on a rotation. So it's not the same tracks all night.

Quote from Jens O. :thanks again for all the feedback!

thanks for the tip! I'll try it next time! though I'm not sure if it will help: I had alrerady set the 'Multiplayer car draw' to 240m - and the mrt wasn't that far away

it often happens that I need to record scenes again due to annoying cars suddenly popping up... for the mrt I must say, I just noticed it too late and was too lazy to edit the whole movie again

Distance only matters if the car is in front of you. If it's behind you it could be 2m it still wont draw it.

Nice video, definitely worth downloading straight away.

One small tip though, in Options -> Misc turn off "Multiplayer speedup option" when recording. I saw a few MRT5s pop in and I *think* that was caused by the MP speedup option which doesn't draw cars until they're almost completely on screen.

I am guessing part 3 is shorter than it was supposed to be. It's like 20 minutes instead of an hour or so.

Nice picture about me :P

As much as that sucked for you I laughed so hard when I first watched that from Zion's view. The My3id just came down and bounced your car right off the road.

Glad you all like the pictures.
