Totally agree with that, and i'm a "no-guns-at-home-never-shoot-a person-for-stealing-tv" guy. Bah my english it's getting worse every time
While i know lot of bad words in russian i dont feel it's really frightening, not as much as a "sovrapposto" anyway (pump action shotguns are for american cowboys who cant shoot with stile and elegance ).
You would be amazed of how bad you will operate a gun under stressful condition. And i really doubt the "normal guy" has any proper training in this area; and no, going shooting at the gun range every day it's not a proper training.
A random baseball bat/flashlight as suggested before can be useful in the last resort situation, other more threathening devices could be more dangerous than helpful.
But this is only my opinion, none of the mentioned approaches (gun-nogun) has ever eliminated the problem.
Thank god i live in relatively quiet place; but the intrusions here vary.
Most cases are the ordinary "poor" guy that come to your house tryng to steal your tv, but there are lot of cases in wich people awaken with bad guys pointing gun at them, beat them almost to death and rob them. In the later case having a gun or tryng to disarm/return fire/rambo mode/other will bring you to "it's me or him" situation. I prefer to not go to that situation, i like to bet on my favourite sport team results not on my life.
Yes owning a gun could put you in the nice situation where the intruder find you pointing your gun at him; big win, you still have your tv, he will go to jail. Or you can find the bad guy that also has a weapon with him, big firefight; not so much win, you still have your tv, but you cant watch it as you are dead.
I prefer the no gun, but if someone want to have one, well it's his respectable choice.
Insurance tip for the italians (yes i work in insurance, dont know if it apply to other countries), locking your door result in total refund, not locking will get you refunded anyway but with -20% of "refund penalty" usually as long as you are in the house. Owning a gun does not give you any benefit, owning a good lock will give you some.
The hillclimb near where i live, Verzegnis-Sella Chianzutan.
Very nice videos, with good sounds (not like hearing engines eco in the valley with your hears but nice sound).
Another video from another hillclimb in Italy, the "sound duel" between 360 and Corvette is priceless! (taken during practice so that's why the slow starts) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZz7roXETm4
More 50%, would be back to 99% if Rossi goes to Ducati
But you aren't wrong on this one, with the slowly decline of rally (wich was huge in Italy) motorsport has lost lot of popularity in the years.
"Mainstream" prefers F1, but i think it's something that it can be applyed worldwide.
And yeah, as you can read Italians suck at english
Strange, i never played netKar, and i dont like the 500.
But i must say, LFS it's totally unknow here; while it's understandable that it is not popular to the main stream it seems it is also unknown to the sim lovers. You may find people still playng gpl, rfactor, nascar, etc. but when you ask them: "so do you like LFS?" the answer it's always: "what? Need for speed?"
As the first news are coming out...
(Dad was in the italian air accident commission, "human errors" his job so can have some insights sometimes)
Pilot tryed 4 approaches. Russians told him to go to another airport. Problem is very experienced pilots try to do risky things sometimes, very good pilots are not afraid of abort landing and going to another airport when it may not be safe. Quite some problems instructors have with very good ex-fighters pilots (you just dont pilot president aircraft if you are not good) that dont remeber they dont have anymore ejection seats. Expecially if they fear the anger of a full government+presidents+politicians+etc... for a delay of a very important ceremony...
Oh and seems no ils there (well they werent last time my father landed there, passed quite some years though).
And i'm very sorry, seems my engRish it's getting worse as time passes
Anyway will know more as time passes, RIP to all the people that died in the accident
There are countless example of crashes or "near-misses" because pilot (skilled or not) tryed to land when it wasnt safe. A delay/shame for an abort landing it's always better than a crash
Never seen so much exiting games in one week.
Except for Canada-Russia, they really destroy them in one and an half period. Canada playng very good + Russia playng very bad = no fun (well if your not canadian ).
Wath the russian were thinking? All their forwards standing still on the blue line too far away from defensemen with puck... bah! And Canada looked scary, almost won every race for the puck and battles in the corner, hmm Canada-USA rematch for gold?
Yup. But reasons are still unknow. Interesting theory is... "evolution"
My mother has cancer. She need to be taken care of. It's not a simple flu.
Yet i laughed at "cancer related" humor. I laugh at every tipe of humor as long as it meets my standards of humor. Laughing at it doesnt change my idea of something serious or sad; i laugh at a funny picture, i dont laugh of someone in a bad condition.
I dont laugh too at scrolling down pages of flame wars to find my daily funny pic in this thread.
It comes down to what we define as "bad taste". For some it's down syndrome humor to another guy could be other things. Not all the jokes make all people laugh. So i dont see bigproblem, when you find something bad taste for you scroll a little bit down and find somethinf more funny for you!
Sorry for bad english ...and now restart with some funny pics please!
Depends if we will have a major scale war/cold war again in the next 10 years. Sadly usually that improves technology quite a bit.
If Mr.Scawen will survive that, we will possibly drive our favourite combo via mind while sleeping. Or while being seated in the bathroom.
We are talking about Italy, and IF i remember correctly they are a "present" from Lamborghini.
Also Ferrari usually gived "present" to the local police with almost every new model. (dont know if they still do it)
Why not an ambulance? Well until an ambulance can go fast as a Lamborghini... (but really, it's a marketing tool by Lamborghini)
I use freetrack, and i'am really satisfied with the results.
I have spent like 25 euro for all the hardware (20 webcam + 5 led/resistor/shipping + cable for free from scrap material).
This is a good guide for people like me who cant seem to grasp even the most easy concepts on electronics
With this guide and a little soldering i was able to build my own "ghetto" setup, looks bad but works really fine! (pic attached)
About the ir-filter part, you will find plenty of information on the official freetrack forum, or you can be lucky as me and webcam automatically switch to infrared mode (still dont know how i made it )
Have fun soldering!
P.S. If you find difficult finding hardware on the net... try ebay
Naah, it's a "bottom" of the valley street, not too much elevation change, in fact it has lot of smooth corners. But has really nice "panorama".
Hope people post theirs, i am really curious to see what "my funny street" look like around the world!
Always liked to know what are the real streets LFS people like.
Can it be for the beautiful sights, for the challenging turns, or whatever your reason is that make you happy when you drive there!
And i start with mine:
Nice mountain street but very fast and with some really beautiful panorama. It's the road to my ice rink, more than "sporty driving" wich will be dangerous as turns are fast and speed would be too dangerous for a public street, i like it because it has really beautiful sights and it's really a pleasure to make passengers fell asleep taking the long turns as smooth as possible despite not going too slow!
Some preview pics attached, more on the link!
And now post some of your favourite streets from around the world!
