Although I'll probably regret it, I think it would be interesting to have Finnish as the official olfsl language. I wish I could speak more than one language, I just couldn't get the hang of French at school, and I'm half italian and never managed to learn that either.

I'm very interested in trying Japanese.

Anyway I'm sure you're all very interested in that, if you want to hear more about my lack if lingingual skills then let me know and I'll start a new thread for you all.

I just did a tyre and fuel test, I agree, they should be fine.

The lack of reverse gear is tricky, maybe everyone should create an F Key with the following.

"I am stuck in the wall/tyres, please push me back the right way!"

How are peeps finding SO Sprint 1?

Solar Hydro has pointed out there is no pitlane, are you guys finding the fuel and tyres lasting ok for 35 laps, I think the should be, we need some brave guys to test this for us.

As well call it a lag lap, why not do one whole lap?

thanks for your insight into the lagstarts.

Last race was my first full hosting of a pool (pool 2), only one thing went wrong so I'm quite pleased. I can't remember how long I did the lag start for, wasn't 30 seconds though

But yes, I did do the /restart instead of /end this time, as I can see people's point that this would undo the good of the lag start!

Hi Hallen,

Just reading your comment about the lagstart. On pool 5 FienDi gave us a long start, for a moment I thought he forgot to restart.

I haven't had loads of experience, so how long would you suggest a good lagstart to be?

Layout, what's the big deal?

I can't see what everyone is complaining about!

All servers are open for practice at least 15 minutes before race, this is more than enough time to get used to a new layout. Although practice is optional, everyone should really get on the server early and race a few laps. Drivers connecting just before we call the grid are going to be cold, and more likely to get their braking wrong in T1.

It was also mentioned on the homepage over an hour before races started, I always check for any urgent news before my race starts, we've switched servers before now, best place to find any change of plans is on the site. Evryone should check before their race starts, I do, it only takes 10 seconds.

Secondly the tyres and cones will not have severly added to the framerate problem, there were never too many onscreen to cause a problem unless someone hit them, when they are moving is when all the hard cpu work is done, no phyiscs calculations are done when they're not moving only drawing calc.

Anyone with a slow computer will have trouble on the Rally track, the dust is the worst thing, but you can all put your graphics settings to Minimum, or even change your resolution lower, that will give you quite a frame boost.

With the rally you can have up to 19 cars in view, all jumping bashing, kicking up dustm this is what causes framerate problems, not tyres.

I think the extra tyres were a good idea, I'm pretty bad at rally (as you'll know if you saw me in pool 5) but I never crashed into them (only other peoples cars lol), I remember grazing them a couple of times, but that is fun.

If all you guys who are complaining about them, all in higher pools than me, which should mean you're better drivers, can't handle them, then guys, I can send you a link for some free kiddie racing games if you like, Live For Speed is for real racing men and women. And real racing men and women can handle the tyres!

My specs.

AMD 64 3000+ (754 socket)
1.5 GB Ram
ATI 9550 pro (not overclocked or flashed........yet)

Hi there,

I thought server one went well.

Sorry for any confusion regarding lag laps and a reverse grid.

I was drafted in and only did what I was informed by Nassa Ant, I had not read or been told about anything other than 2 straight x 15 lap races.

No lag start was mentioned to me before race, nor did anyone ask for one after quali. And as for a reverse grid on 2nd race, again I had no knowledge of this.

Apart from that it went well. Very clean racing all round.

Few lost connections from server

I'll try that with the sound, I thought it was a loose wire, but you never know it could've been that!

Thanks

I was lucky enough to be given the chance to host pool one by Mrs FienDi. Although the guys messed me around a little they weren't too bad.

Good learning experience, especially with such a tough race to host and drive.

Bit of confusion with the lag lap, but this happend to Mrs Fiendi on Pool 6 as well, we'll have to make sure everyone understands these in future.

Okay now to my race.

Well it was great upuntil my backup drive woke up from powersaving and made my screen pause for 5 seconds, by that time I had crashed and flew onto my roof. Oh yeah and on lap 2 or three my speakers cut out and I was racing with no sound (the wire was loose), this was surprisginly tough, not being able to hear the gears or tyre sqeauls.

Many congratulations to my team mate MattMiller who won pool 6, although I wish I was there as I think we would have had a battle at the end for 1st and second.

He pitted three times but my stratergy was to pit two.

Oh well, I'm sure they Flying Finns will have another win next race.

Blackwood RallyCross - that is going to be tough!

I think you may find I drove the best ever OLFSL race!

My setup was rear aero 13 front 8, 100% fuel at start.

Started 12th finished 4th. Pitted on lap 19 (I had enough fuel left to pit on 20 but didn't want to risk it).

With my high aero I was the slowest on track, by half a second per lap, but super consistent driving and late pit stop saw me gain time with all who pitted early or spun on grass.

Not only that but with my extra Aero and of course tons more grip I never went on the grass in the entire race.

because I didn't know.

I can't believe as senior director hairy manager sub assitant official Person of the Flying Finns team I was not informed before Atom Ant that Mrs FienDi was racing.

I demand a Team meeting! lol

Think the site is down, it just goes to a page saying, cannot connect to database.

Everyone take care in Turns one two and three on lap one, likely crash spots until fireld spreads.

Luckily I don't think there will be too many team changes, members switching teams so hopefully it wont affect the standings too much anyway.
But it's an interesting point!

I think we should keep it as it is for now and maybe for the next league the change can be made when everyone is at zero points again?
great tune up

I realised anyone can download the SPR's, but would you easily be able to tell by watching the replay if the paths had been widened by say half a metre? I reckon it would look very similar myself.

Half a metre can make all the difference around those tight bends but is visually hard to detect.

I don't think anyone would actually do it, we all want to have a fair system, just I thought it was a small loophole.

Luckily I haven't even tried making a course myself yet so it would take me weeks to be able to learn how to do it like FienDi does it!!
better than I thought!

I've done much better than I thought at the skill challenge! I didn't expect it to but it suits my style, I like being rough!

Can't believe I'm infront of FienDi and he designed the track!

One thought though, this could be easy to cheat.

All you would have to do is load the current layout into the editor and widen the paths through the tyres just a little (not enough to easily see by visual) but enough to help navigate, then save that and use it instead.

Any thoughts?

Not that I'm accusing anyone of cheating yet!!
Sounds great

But I don't think I'll be that good at it - I like good old fashioned racing, this seems a bit like the rally event just not on mud, but will try. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for hard work to the OLFSL staff, we don't deserve it!

Quote from alzys177 :
i think it's about time you ask someone who lives in your area, just open the front door of your house and ask the next person who passes by even.... what country of the uk you are in and change your flag from the union jack.. even more fun than mario cart

ALZY.

Firstly the beauty of mario kart and lfs is that you can play people around the world? Why don't you ask your neighbours if you want to play via LAN instead of with us on the olfsl?

And I don't see why I should change my country, when the world cup is on I do not support England!!

I prefer to stay Great Britain!

I think there are too many avents at Aston this season. Not that it's a bad track but I think with twelve races we should have a fairly even spread over all the main tracks FWD then if we have time left over go to REV's.

But still looking forward to this race!
