I like the current FF Fox skin, I just thought that these style skins look better than the overall type you're doing for FF. Not that they're bad or anything but these have a smooth style which I like, but hey, you're still better than me at skins so no complaints

Hey Blackout, how come the OLFSL skins are better than our Flying Finn ones?

Some right arguing going on here isn't there?

As strange as it may seem, I think I will vote for the 2nd option.

I do think the FienDis are grat at helping out with their times etc if people need it, but on a racing front I really would not want someone from a faster pool in the same one as me, as long as we have the current hotlap system/pool system anyway.

Not to say I don't like the current system, not at all, but it is like that for a reason, to keep pools fair and close, having people move pools creates the mixed races that the whole idea is trying to stay away from.

But that is just my opinion and I think things have been fine the way they have been too, but if I was in pool 9 and a faster guy had won the race when he shouldn't have been there, well, I think I wouldn't like it.

On the other hand, I do like mixed races too, and if were were to go donw that road instead I wouldn't mind, but I don't think we should have a mixed system which is open to complaints.

60/40 Me, hehehehe

Honestly, I knew you had the drive, all you had to do was go around me, the only thing was I wasn't going to go on the grass again to make it easy that's all lol.

Nothing wrong with aggressive racing though, and it all happens in a split second anyway - lets call it 50/50
replay

Right I have watched the replay from pool 9, well the first 3 laps which had the incedents anyway.

On the begining of lap 3 I notice [T-Evo]Palex brake a little too late into T1, so I attempt to go past, he closes door and boom, I would say 50/50 blame.

Later on lap 3 I go wide after straight which gives [BR] Bone I think it was a run on me, we both turn into next corner ok, but on the exit he keeps pushing me towards grass, even though we are even, I decided to stay put and not go onto the grass, result, I get thrown off track and then into the path of Jackal77, sorry about that.
Blame would be 70/30 towards BR Bone IMO - I was not trying to keep you behind, and still you drive to agressive for the moment, but hey that is racing.
Hosts perspective

Hi everyone, just giving my view of things from a hosts perspective.

Firstly on both pools I hosted (pools 3 and 6) everyone behaved really well whilst trying to line the grid and in the race in general, this is good to see. Last season things did get quite silly.

Good driving from everyone Pols 3 and 6 - especially Joon (I think it was) who was thrown to the back but pumped in 100% consistant laps to get himeself back up, my driver of the day

As far as my race went, well it was good and bad. I had two knocks early on which put me to the back of the grid, I must watch the replay and see what happened. I only had minor damage which made my car turn left under braking all by itelf, but even with this I too managed to drive quite well for a number of laps catching people up, then all of a sudden my sound dissapeared on lap 12 I think it was. I drove another 12 laps with no sound at all, which is harder than you think it would be.

I got fed up with no sound and while on the long straight drove one handed (and one eyed) with the other flicking through all my paperwork looking for the LFS button sheet so I could reinitialize the sound, which I did in the end.

After the soujnd was back, things picked up again, but my tyres had lost grip and several laps I started missing the apexs and hitting tyres.

With only 8 laps to go (i think) my car which was trying to veer left took itself too far and clipped the hill kerb which sent my rolling on to the roof, and that was that.

Well done everyone!

P.S. Regarding Neokiller - I was hosting your pool and you were too late to enter the server, I changed the password a few minutes later, but still you did not arrive, sorry.

P.P.S. I believe moving over to cover an opponent once is fine, any more than that is deliberate blocking in my view and dangerous.

10 Pools

Right then, we have a record 10 pools this race.

While it sounds good, I'm sure you can imagine the complexity of managing 10 different races within such a short time frame on sunday.

As Mrs FienDi stated on the olfsl site, if you're late then the hosts have the final say if you race or not - please do your best to be on time, I'm hosting 3 pools and racing in one tomorrow, I'm not gonna take no messing about as a host this weekend - best behaviour please boys and girls!

Good luck though everyone, hope you all get a good result, be careful in turns one and two, there is no point having a pile up and being out of the race with 39 laps to go, everyone practice their braking, that includes me

It's still the same for everyone though isn't it, every nation has a chance of having members that drop out of the season early on, just one of those things.

I dunno, i think i wont vote as i'm not sure about either option.

Don't be too hard on Tez

Firstly there is no rule at the moment about sub drivers, so he didn't break any black and white rules.

I do think it was wrong not to ask the staff first, but it is not the worst crime to have graced OLFSL.

Race one from a Hosts point of view!

Hi all.

Well I hosted Pools 3 and 4 then raced in Pool 8.

To start with we were worried about server (Pool 4 in !) it seemed a bit laggy before the race and there were a couple of disconnections. However once all non OLFSL racers were booted the server looked ok so I didn't move everyone to the NASSA server.

Things didn't go too bad as far as hosting goes, a couple of people did join on the late side, (please all try and arrive at least 5 minutes before it's time to line up the grid).

It took me a little longer to line up the grids yesterday, I knew I had several new OFLSL members in my pool and wanted to get everything across ok, sorry for the little delay to members who know the way we do it, but please bear with us.

The racing was pretty clean, a couple of people took too long in my opnion to spectate after being flipped, if this does happen to you, there is nothing you can do, just get out of the way, please don't endage the race of your fellow drivers.

Blue Flags - I think some people could have obeyed the blue flags a little more in my pools, but it wasn't too bad.

I did have one driver who seemed intent on unlapping himself, which is ok, but wasn't doing it very well and did bump the driver who was a lap ahead.
If you are in a position to unlap yourself, you must be careful, you may well be a little faster but if you are a lap down you do not get the right to blast past someone who is ahead of you on track.

But apart from that, I thought it went well, I thought all new members did a great job on such a tough opening race.

See you all at Blackwood with XFG - the classic combo, this should be a blast!
Staff

Well being a staff member, I do not think that having a sub driver do your race is wrong. After all, most real life racing leagues have reserve drivers incase of injury etc. Obviously the other staff may have other views so will advise them of your thread and see what they think.

However I think anyone who needed to have a sub driver should have this verified by the OLFSL staff first, especially if the reserve driver is either a new member or significantly slower or faster than you are.

All staff can be contacted by email from the OLFSL site, I think your first port of call should be Mrs FienDi then whoever is designated to host your race (which will be on the grid page on Saturday).

This is because the pools are balanced on your own speed, for example if you got into pool one with a fast hotlap, and your reserve driver was slow like me and can only manage the get into lower pools then they could be a danger to the legitimate fast guys. (and vice versa of course, faster drivers in slower pools can be a danger and will have unfair advantage).

Well I think I was at the meeting when we decided the LX4 and 6 race although I can't be sure now, things just so wild lately.

We did test out all proposed races (apart from BF1 As North) as this was before the patch, so it must have seemed ok at the time.

I'd have thought that one was much easier to drive and therefore had less chance of mistakes and spinning off, therfore making it a bit of an advantage over the one that was faster.
The date

The date probably matches the world cup final, but I'm sure the chances of your pool clashing will be slim!

Glad we're having a BF1 race, once you are used to the power it's fine, the traction control will help avoid accidents in the race.

considering I must have only done a total of 15-20 laps practice on the track/car I'm pretty pleased with my result. Start 14th and finished 8th.

Hope I can make next season, especially as some of my track/car ideas will be used!
Pool 4 and 6

Everyone behaved in pool 4, was not too difficult to host, but still frantic.

I won Pool 6 (horray) my first OLFSL win.

I did ask to start at the back but the host refused, so maybe it was the right choice in the end!

I let Milcky through on T1 to give myself some space but he flew into the distance, but flew too fast and span out.

From then on I led the race, had some very tough racing with Atilla, Sparhawk and one of the Pheonix's.

Sparhark got infront of me on final lap (for 10 seconds) but I had to do a last ditch effort to slipstream and out brake him into the bridge (I was very slow in bridge all race).

Then all I had to do was keep infront with very late breaking and the win was mine.

Hmmm. I've had that a few times over the last few days too, I usually leave it and a go back a couple hours later!

It's odd, it's not 100% an ISP problem not loading the site as the background to the olfsl site and it's frames load, just nothing else appears.

As is suggests it cannot access the database, I don't know how FienDi does the site, I was thinking maybe there is a funny access thing going on?

well I would consider waiting off track to cross the line later on to be unsportsmanlike (& unsportswomanlike for any girl racers).

Also there is a distraction factor to take into account here, no matter if you believe the place you are waiting is safe, the game will produce the yellow flag because you are stationary, it is not fair for other drivers to have to drive through a yellow flag zone for many laps becasue someone wants to do this, firstly it will cause drivers to slow when they don't need to and it will affect overtaking manouvers because for many laps there could be yellow flags in a great overtaking position and because of someone waiting the yellow flag rule means drivers cannot overtake there.

I'm not aware of any real life racing that allows this, if you have a damaged car that is serious enough to make you pull to the side then I believe it comes under the black flag rule and I will give anyone doing this and refusing to either carry on or spectate a black flag.

Quote from MARSH2a :OK now I'm confused. I can see resetting after a spin that leaves me nose first in the wall, something within my control.
But are you saying that as a victim of another drivers offences, I can reset every time, regardless of results or damage, as long as its safe?

Well yes, in this event only!

If you cause a bigger accident with resetting then there is a penalty (check the olfsl site) so check it is safe before hitting space and you'll be ok.
resetting
russraine
S2 licensed
The reset button (space bar by default) just flips your car the right away around, you do not get repaired. You only get repaired in the pit lane, and there is no pitlane.

Manual pitting, Shift and S or ESC is against OLFSL rules, even in this event.
no

Well Wakey, you can't crash too much in the MRT before it is awful to drive, at this stage if you are a danger on track putting the other racers at risk then you may be requested to spectate (unless it's the last lap maybe).

Sure you can reset your car after a couple of crashes, but the point still is NOT to crash as if you do you're more likely to sustain heavy damage.

This rule is more or less for any small spin or bumps that send drivers into a situation where they would normally be able to reverse out.

With no pitlane you cannot repair damage, if you are wrecked then spectate asap to prevent further accidents, just a note, if a driver continues to drive a wrecked car around track and refuses to spectate and they cause accidents they will be forced to spectate and probably be in big trouble after race too.

This special rule does not give licence to drive like a maniac, if you want to do that then go to one of the FM Oval servers
