I haven't look that well through the thread, so this might have been suggested earlier.

But I'd love to see a scoreboard at the end of the race for only the cars of the same class. Not only does it make it easier to see your position in the class you're currently racing, but it also emphazises the fact that you don't race against other classes.

Quote from blackbird04217 :I don't think you can assign the F keys to keyboard keys. When you assign it to a button it is assigning it to a wheel/gamepad or something (which you can do via menus).

Your only options are to live with pressing F11/F12, use a wheel/gamepad or find some external way to make Q/E simulate into F11 or F12 presses.

I tried using /button 1 ctrl_f11, and it gave no error. So I assume then the guide is faulty stating that ctrl_f1 - ctrl_f12 are valid key functions.

Is there no other way to make a key press run a script?
Scripting: ctrl_f11 and ctrl_f12 are unkown key functions

Hi.

I thought I'd bind key Q to left blinker, and key E to right blinker. Using this guide I've made the scripts, but LFS just says that "ctrl_f11" and "ctrl_f12" are "unknown key functions", even though the guide says they are valid.

My scripts are as follows:

autoexec:
/ctrlf 11 /run indicateLeft
/ctrlf 12 /run indicateRight
/key Q ctrl_f11
/key E ctrl_f12

indicateLeft:
/press 7
/ctrlf 11 /run indicateStop
/ctrlf 12 /run indicateRight

indicateRight:
/press 8
/ctrlf 11 /run indicateLeft
/ctrlf 12 /run indicateStop

indicateStop:
/press 0
/ctrlf 11 /run indicateLeft
/ctrlf 12 /run indicateRight

It is line 3 and 4 in autoexec that contains the "unkown key functions". What am I doing wrong?

No virtual side mirrors?

Hi.

Just wondering if virtual side mirrors are possible, and if so, how do I turn them on? I have turned on the virtual center mirror, but I'd also like to have more control over what's on the sides of my car.

When I race two seated cars Im using the left side layout, but the right hand side mirror is out of view. I can turn my head to look into it, but then it's too small to really make out the distances as I can with the left hand side mirror (which is in my view without having to turn my head). Most of the accidents I cause has to do with cars on my right hand side that I havent spotted.

Quote from Crashgate3 :The trouble with having proper pitboxes is the number of them available on the tracks. You can have 40 cars competing but there may not be enough boxes for everyone to have a unique box. IRL they get round this by the fact that people race in teams so can share a box but in LFS, many people don't race as a team so it would be very unfair if you need to pit but someone else is in your box.

Could to some degree be solved by dynamically assign free pitboxes. I have yet to see the pits completly full of cars, so there is always a couple of boxes free at any time.

Quote from senn :To be honest, i can't think of a reason you would want to downshift while under power in a race car, maybe on a road car, with a driver who has nfi how to keep an engine in the proper rev range, but in a race car where it spends most of it's time up the top of the rev range....dangerous..

I only have a mouse to control the car. So when I race the Forumula V8 I often use a higher gear than i normally would while cornering. Otherwise I can't keep down the accelerator in the corner without spinning out. As soon Im out of the corner I back shift down to increase the revs and the torque for acceleration. Not as elegant as a proper foot-operated accelerator, but it's the next best thing if you use a mouse and want to accelerate while cornering without too much torque.
Not enought points to race on online servers

Hi. I've been racing in single player for quite some time now, and thought I'd try out multiplayer. But none of the servers I have tried yet allows me to enter the race because I do not have enough experience points. Is there any server where I can start off collecting points?
