Both of the AvPs were great IMO. The first one by Rebellion was a strange beast in its time and Monolith's sequel was much slower paced but equally scary.
Ah, the Hunter edition which isn't available for PC.

AvP 3 Demo coming this Thu
So Rebellion's back making the third AvP game, what are your thoughts?
The teaser vids look gory enough and compared to the, for instance, Infinity Ward's MW2 turd and the whole poop of a game series, Rebellion's got at least one good game under their belts (the original AvP).

For some reason the mayhem reminded me of LFS - in a positive way. Cool little cars and half the grid off the road in some corners.
Very uninspired design, lacked important features and overpriced.
If it had been same form factor running full OS X with additional Iphone/Touch-esque UI on top or as a switchable mode it could have been worth the money.
Suddenly the HP Slate looks like a winner with full Win7 (already has a good base for multitouch) and I can actually do some emergency work on the road.

UV-filters, well, use 'em if you're scared or there's small rocks flying around like in a rally and don't mind a ruined photo every now and then when the filter shits itself due to some stray light.
The pros treat their kit like crap because they are pros and have stuff to do, pictures to make and have little or no money tied to their kits. Simple.
And if you ding the front element, it takes a huge crack to have any real life effect on the image. And if it does, send it for a front element replacement.

Here's a short selection from a friend's recording studio opening party which I was booked to document (got paid in alcohol and some lubbin'). The studio is called "Hundred Rabbits" so lots of bunny girls at the scene.

Random stuff. Been very down and unproductive lately, maybe the winter and short days are taking the toll.
I think most of us would be more interested in pics of the D90 taken with the X-700 with good film.
Only insanely big watermarks are a free ticket to hurt here... 
Yeah, there were a lot of black in those frames but maybe give him couple of tips how to compose differently to avoid them? Drop the horizon to lower part of the frame and run long exposure to get fluid clouds going past in moonlight? Or post-crop? Or maybe try a HDR (actually compressed dynamic range but anyhow) approach with multiple exposures to keep the super bright highlights in check and having more detail in the clouds or ground?

Always make a case example where you tell the x in short, the goals, target audience, did it reach/fullfill them, budget and available time.
I've seen my fair share of designer portfolios and unless I hear the budget and more crucially the amount of time he had on the project it means nothing to me.
Rushed projects could be your greatest asset in your portfolio if you were short on resources yet still delivered a solid work.
