If theres one thing that will make you faster quicker is to learn the lines of a track, a great way is to watch the WR laps, but there are more than one fast line around a track and online you sometimes need to take other lines in order to overtake well, so learn the lines, after that its all self development as you do more and more laps to gain that detailed mental 3d picture of the track.
studying you own replays should enable you to see where time could be gained also
Hi Lloyd
well win XP is a good start
are you using AOL broadband? or dialup? do you know the connection speed (512kbps 1024kbps ect)
do you have a modem they sent you? or a router maybe?
how does it connect into your PC (usb or ethernet plug?)
do you use wireless connection?
are there any other PC's (LAN) that use the same connection?
do you have many processes running when you play LFS (ctrl-Alt-Delete click processes tab)
do you use P2P software or Torrent software? if you do check in processes that its completely off, before starting LFS.
what ping times do you get in the server list within LFS?
OK Im not a user of AOL Ive never heard it rated could be that your ISP is using "traffic shaping" or "port blocking" this could be the main cause of your prob, tech support should be able to tell you if they are employing these restrictions.
the more info you can give the more chance there is of someone here being able to help you
SD.

I dont get this bug very much at all Ive been able to race very close to others even rubbing and nudging without problems, I do tend to race with people I know and who have good connections, maybe a little lag plays a part in exagerating things, it only takes one person to leave on P2P software and it lags everyone in the server. now the collision with barriers and SO pit kerbing is defo a bug but I dont get this with other cars unless they park in my pitbox before I leave pits
I believe the current STCC league thats almost finished there could be some that do not have platinium ...yet
but the point I am making is that some drivers in the league as Jakg says, did not qualify in the CTRA system to get into this league.
The top drivers in the ctra system are not the same people who drive in the league, simply because the system was not complete at that time (or even started?), if STCC makes it to season 2 and I hope it does (I think the TBO cars are the best LFS alternative to touring cars) then this may of course change, and could lead to more realistic broadcasted races maybe.
I cant comment on all the drivers ability to drive clean or dirty, except what I see in the broadcasts as IMO not many stcc league drivers spend alot of time at the ctra servers, some do, but not many, mind you Ive not driven a lap of ctra for weeks.
I am not sure if the CTRA is still a way to get into the STCC, but when I first noticed the STCC I thought that it was the A division of somthing bigger, I dont know what original qualification was involved, but for road car races it seemed to be the top drivers. I think I may have been wrong, after following some of the more recent races I personally couldn't believe the amount of cars damaged in the latest STCC broadcast, I know it was the city ect but its not that hard to miss the walls having said the above, I know at least one driver who has progressed from the CTRA into the STCC league but I dont think that it happens anymore?
I imagine great things to come from the CTRA in the future, with the creator and the admin team they have atm, I would expect somthing of very high standards, to be announced at some stage.
Good luck if and when the "best of ctra" televised leagues are introduced.
Sinbads got it right about predictability IMO. In the private servers where everyone knows each other, and have raced together many times, there are very few crashes. Theres more often than not some light contact(depending on car), but again its predictable and managable, most of the time
Public servers however it can be a different story, even the most aware and skillfull of drivers can still get taken out sometimes. although there are some here who can see the "very late braking divebombers" coming and will change their lines through turns to avoid them, in a kind of reverse switchback I suppose to some its like a game, within a sim, within this virtual world we all visit.
Mike either way, ban lifted or not, I do wish you well for your upcoming op.
I havn't been on the ctra servers for a while, but I do remember some great racing with you and your teammates some weeks back, and very clean respectfull races they were too
As for letting another party know your LFS login details (or maybe a friend or EDIT DAD using your PC? ) Nows about the time to buy them an S2 voucher or change you pw's and let them buy their own
seriously, have a speedy recovery oh and put me on your LFSWorld buddy list and pop in for some laps if you see me on (mainly MOE GT2 testing atm).
Looks interesting.
Reminds me of the "gamespy network".
I dont use anything like that, just lfs world and teamspeak for me, sometimes msn messenger, but I dont like using it oh and we have a little smapperbox over at our teamsite.
mind you I dont really get time to play anything else that often, except the odd racing demo that takes my fancy and a little AA (yes its free) when I dont feel like setting the wheel and chair up
Its not just visual reactions that would achieve that Col, but audio clips from teams TS servers interjected at approprate times would give some insite for the viewers, I think the sort of quality broadcasts by the likes of STCC and MOE in the past are top notch, and are getting better and better with each release. Once established I think Simsports could offer more to the viewer in an "on demand" way like TV is going anyway.
and with addon,s like the "trackcam"? that was used during last years moe broadcast to give different, and more realistic camera positions ect, and the style of commentary makes a big step into producing shows people want to watch and keep watching.
the link is in Tweaker sig, it helps to read the rules before entering a league
there nothing in those rules about bumpdrafting or slipstreaming a team mates or anyones car, I suppose a GT1 car could theroetically push his GT2 little brother all the way round but I dont think its very sportsman like, but as in all competitions some will go to greater lenths to be ahead than others
It looks to me that NIKI's 2nd screenshot (exit) does not have 2 wheels anywhere near the kerb, I think Tweaker has clarified the entry with pictures, but surley that exit is cutting no?
I am not being pedantic, just seeking offical clarification.
I am not sure who in this thread, are offical moe admins and who are not. Is there a list of the admins?
Hi Mopstar, it looks like you havn't filled in your name in the $menus within the server or at the myctra page, IIRC you need to enter a password while in the servers to gain access. If you are having difficulty with the $menus , when in a ctra server type $ in the chat and use the [?] button to navigate the menu.
I think (and Im no ctra admin so I could be well wrong) that you didnt score points in the race above because even tho you had just crossed the line, as shown in the replay and LFS results,; the ctra race manager either, A: discounted your results because it initiated kicking you before it recieved the full results for the race, or, B: didn't get your results because you had already been kicked and were no longer on the server. or some combination of the 2.
anyway its best to wait until the results screen fully appears, if only the [?] appears then wait 10 seconds or so before repeating any chat binds
As you know you were kicked automatically for the "" spam, this has caught many of us out whilst celebrating, or even during close racing, but its a good rule and there for a good reason.
I recomend everyone to get aquainted with the CTRA site, and READ through the rules, and all the $menus in the servers before clicking the I AGREE button.
To get the best line through the fast chicaine takes great precision, and some of us will get it wrong some of the time but to make a decision to cut on purpose, especially the last right turn, just shows how realistic and competitive this league is, and how seriously we all want to be at the pole
Just a few cones could make marshalling (and driving) easyer, if the cone goes flying then its a cut, no danger to other cars with bales stroon around or sudden impact decelleration, any driver knocking down a cone could then be watched for repeat offences.
Its all well and good what is and isn't hlvc, but whats important here IMO is what is acceptable to the moe admins and whats not, and of course the amount of work involved to police it.
As mentioned in another ctra thread here could the $rep allow for "this race" replay to be sent after the race has ended.
then the report can be submitted as normal at the myctra pages,
I think making the reporting process just a little easyer but still involved enough to stop overreporting will help those who need it
and allow racers making reports to race in the very next race.
