I know I've been a little inactive until the last couple of days, but theres a problem with race 2 server.
Its only when trackchanges take place, and its certianly not the racing, the racing was as close as ever over the 2 nights Ive driven this week
Its also been mentioned before I'm sure, its when changing configs, everyone often has to go into the garage screens to change car, find a set, add fuel etc. Now either a few people join the grid as soon as everthings loaded and click ready, starting the race with many still in garage screens (I can live with that although 3 players were racing last night with 8-10 waiting to join (personally I would vote re to allow all to race if I were in same situation)).
The real problem is if you change car/set fast enough and actually join the grid, or wait to change sets once your in the grid list, 1 or more people are removing players from that list, Its happened 2 nights in a row and its the most annoying thing you can imagine not to mention underhanded.
I would rather start last, than be removed from the grid and have to sit out the first few laps.
Although I had some great races and caught up with some familiar faces (literally :P) an otherwise enjoyable 2 eveniings entertainment at CTRA 2 was spoiled by this player ot these players actions.
Its happened at every config change, not just a one off, and if its meant to be jovial "just messing around" its not funny stop it please! (aimed at player not ctra staff)
Race2 server is for more experianced (higher licenced?) drivers and the standard of racing is increased and expected, please dont spoil it
I dont swear much when LFS'ing but when I do its out loud in my home where nobody except me and the wife can hear
I certainly dont type my swears, it seems to me alot of players have these swears bound to F keys, they must think it makes them appear more mature, or is it the oppisite?
of course in my reallife car, when I'm not ferrying the kids around, Ive been known to swear a bit, usually after being cut up etc (happens alot around here lol) at least 50% of drivers I see on the roads dont use indicators at all, o maybe justr dont know how to switch them on ;P, they just get a low under the breath grumble
Be very cafefull don't let it get to you, if someone is "overusing" the horn just use the $rep feature, thats what others will use if your "dirty tricks" end up with an accident
some people I know do a little toot as they pass if a driver being lapped lets them buy easy, as a thanks very much parp, is that a bad thing? I dont think so.
I would totally agree about the horn IRL theres no place for it in any racing series, and most racecars will have the horn removed to decrease weight (along with everything else thats not needed) but other race cars must be "road legal" and have horns fitted, and again overuse or useing as a distraction would be dissallowed as others have stated.
However with lights its a bit different because in LFS someone behind you flashing does not dazzle or blind you, or put you off like IRL, so unlike the horn you have a choice not to look in the mirror (or not to allow it to bother you?) in LFS I often flash a driver if I know them, and when im the one in front noticing it as I glance back, a little grin appears on my face sometimes Ill flash the hazzard lights once to acknollage the flashing
1.33xx is considered fast around here so theres not alot wrong with your driving
watching the replay, you tend to drift too far right when braking for Turn1, if you stay to the left and take a similar line like you take through T3, you could get on the gas sooner, there you could gain 10/100 sec before the 1st split and carry the extra speed down the straight into the 2nd sector, you could also try trailbraking (possibly requiring some changes to the set) and this might also earn you a few 10ths
Most of my XFG sets use around 20-30 PSI the lower your tyre pressures make the car feel like it has more grip but tyres will heat up faster and produce slower top speeds, I would have a play with the front and rear camber settings, feel the changes and fine tune with the ARB's.
How much fuel do you use? if your gonna do all that tyre warming nonsence just fill to 5% or so, the lighter the better.
What view are you using? if custom or wheels view try swapping the driver to RHD for clockwise tracks, it makes a small difference to cornering and tyre wear
Change your cars colour to RED they are always the fastest cars
Hi all
I would highly recommend the CTRA servers, but do read the rules and check all the "$" menus before your first race , they use an advanced race manager software that tracks your progress, and records all your statistics and of course your points and licence level
but as others have mentioned theres a little more to LFS than just the CTRA servers, (theres over 500 other full time S2 servers) there are loads! with many different track/car configs. Some will be empty, but, if you like the car or track and are 1st to join, others normally join, and soon an empty server can fill up
Also when you get S2 licenced, lfsWorld will track all your races and hold your pb's hotlaps etc, if your into stats youll love it.
Take your time and try all the different servers, from drift to cruse, CTRA to oval, noobs to pro's, there is always some action going on somewhere use lfsWorld to add buddys and it will tell you when they are online, even what server they are on, you can set "live-alert" to send you a text when someone comes online, or when a patch comes out! theres just so much you get for £24
The most points Ive earned in a ctra(not SS or B&J) race in the last 3 months is 2 points, if I place lower than 3rd even with fastest lap etc Im lucky to get a single point
I cant get my head around that Tweaker, S2 users going to demo just to crash? sounds very odd to me. I mean how can you tell they are S2 users? and what do they have to gain?
I think the actions speak loudest way of letting anyone youve bashed off back past is the best way, however if theres a slight "nerf" (1st time Ive properly used that word lol) I make a mental note to appologise and check the driver is ok after the race has finished.
many times Ive made contact and slowed to allow a driver to rejoin and repass only to see them telepit or spectate doh!
Better to not chat at all and concentrate on the driving
I think the word you are looking for Hyper is "Impersonal" and I agree its very easy to keep a distance with a gun especially a rifle, just remember the sniper attacks in ther states.
people will always have grudges, illnesses etc and some will always go on to kill thats in some part human nature, arming yourself with a deadly weapon is not.
I partially agree with RacerY that a finger is involved with pulling a trigger, However if you remove the gun from that finger would you not save lives in an easyer way than councilling everyone that owns a gun?
I know that some guns are legitametly used for hunting, and sports and in countrys with better gun laws its alot harder for individuals to purchase or aquire them, and its much harder to buy hollowpoint rounds etc, thats got to help keep the number or killings down.
I just dont get people who say "guns dont kill, people do" because yes people do kill, so why do we have to make it easy for them and provide guns and bullets (how far do you want go imean "guns dont kill, bullets do? or bullets dont kill, loss of blood kills") it all just frustrates me.
Is it me or is Magic Turtles missing from the list? along with teams like CR Developments, Larry Mullen Team and Itek etc, or is it just because of the driver/team member numbers?
I also thought Dustin was part of team UKTC or Team Evolution?
Is it possible that some teams could as Celtic wrote "cook the books" ?
The CTRA portal is really looking cool and must be getting complicated Sam
OP you can always use the "-" key (and with shift too(blocks sys messages also)) I dont think chatting or even reading and driving go together well especially on the CTRA servers
If your crashing into walls while chatting then you are a, increasing your yellow flag count, and b, not driving with due care and attention, the latter could lead to an infringment of the server rules
I fail to see what could be so important to cause a driver to take their eyes off the road.
really its better to just use 1 foot for each pedal with 2 ped sets Karting style
the only reason to H & T is when you have to take your left foot off the brake to clutch & change gear (3pedals)
With all the logitech FF wheels the way LFS uses the force feedback (when set up correctly) is very very good and gives an excellent feel for the road.
It would be intersting to know if the vibration changes to allow you some "feel" of the front grip levels?
Thanks for all the comments.
OK I'm not in a great rush to get into the migration game just yet, but did make a call to my ISP's customer line, and they have assured me that Tiscali are really only shareholders lol. and that Nildram will keep its own house the way they like, regardless of Tiscali's terms etc. I am only ever 30 days away from contract termination (by me) so if things change I've only a month to wait.
