As Sinbad has pointed out, if you dont put your car in a risky position it becomes far easyer to avoid the "over ambitious newcomer" and make up places

There is definatly an art to avoiding crashes and its based (for me at least) in having good spacial awarness in traffic, and being confidant in your actions when you make them, and if you dont know/trust the guy (or gal) your overtaking, then be ready to back out and try again next corner or next lap.

most importantly of all race with a setup that enables you to be fully in control of the car 99% of the time.

Oh and respect others

Peace

If you have lots of addon files, I would recomend installing to a parallel folder and leave you original LFS folder intact, then you can manually move or copy files across until you come across the problem again that way you dont lose a thing

Goodluck

Even train tracks have expansion joints most things do, steel and concrete bridges have them.

XCNuse do you have a link to this nitrogen in tyres info?
as someone has already pointed out air is over 80% nitrogen and yes the other 20% contains some water vapour, but not that wet

I dont see any real world gain form using 100% proof nitrogen over 80% proof

I didn't realise the filter was set to "no".
In all other patch releases, all filters were set to "yes" and I think this is how it should be, could be a ligitimate bug?

Shame on you Gunn

the main reason to H&T irl is so as not to destroy your gearbox whilst downshifting! the upsetting of balance, or not, if done perfectly whilst braking, is secondary IMO that said "trail-braking setups rely on this forward weight shift, to load up the outside front tyre

Alex are you ok mate? you seem a little prickly tonight :P

Quote from DragonCommando :
Heel-toe doesn't reduce the effect of engine braking, because that will occur as long as the throttle is closed, but it removes the negitive torque impact on the engine as the slower moving driveline engages. Which is what causes that sudden weight transfer to the front of the car.

That weight movement forwards is of course additional maybe excessive engine braking, just sitting in neutral will give no extra engine braking, the main problem with H&T is that a non H&T setup will have a different front/rear brake bias exacly the same as a trail-braking set will be different, H&T and trailbraking are 2 totally different things also

Origamiboy I find the G25 pedals are not natural feeling enough to make H&T easy for me, how exactly did you mod yours?
Changing from a 2 pedal set to clutch and H&T is very difficult indeed, and will take alot of practise and commitment, good luck

Is it faster? I suppose it should be as it should give an advantage using aditional engine braking effectively, without locking wheels or damaging clutch/drivetrain requires H&T, and should reduce braking distance by some tiny % over locking up on down shifts or just coast braking.

Is it more realistic and immersive to use H box, manual clutch and H&T downshifts? hell yeah

Im not sure it would be easy to just allow it for rallyX, as its not exactly a track specific option however, it wouldn't hurt to remove it for the non AWD cars, and of course a max preload LSD in LFS is almost a locked diff isn't it? performance wise.

I bet Jeff would make the bell ring everytime on the hammer thing at the fayre Tristan would have to mod the thing a little with some handsaw first

Quote from Gunn :Any wheel with two buttons is not ill suited to head turn. Not sure what you are trying to say otherwise.

HANS is a requirement for many race series and the number in which it is mandatory will increase.

I think using a profiler type solution just to look around is unnessary and thought the way LFS handled the look buttons was really intuitive before , 2 buttons for left right or look back

About the HANS device you mention, you do realise that the tethers can be adjusted to allow for (yes more restricted) head movements, and the drivers view (his eyes) can easly look 90 deg left or right.

I think Quint was reacting to your paraghaph about bitching and moaning..... "One thing is for sure: bitching and moaning about changes won't get you very far. If you can't make a valid, sensible and polite argument for your case you won't gather much support. A petition is a waste of time, as petitions usually are. Insulting people who don't necessarily promote your view is also a waste of time. Hostility is no way forward, even if has been hatched from genuine frustration."

I understand a petition will not change anything , thats why I havn't added my name to it, but I do believe the way the view is handled in patch X31 is a step in the wrong direction and would like to continue disscussing it without all the mud slinging

I have to agree with Col and Todd, I am a classic overuser of the look buttons (the only buttons I use for normal pickup racing) and several quick stabs of the left or right button, combined with a quick stab of both together gave me a very good awareness of what was around me. Since testing the latest patches, and trying to get used to the 45deg look, having to press both buttons just to look to the side just does not feel right for me, the total opposite feeling I had the first time I realised that pressing both buttons, gave me rear view, all those years ago

I would like to see an option added with the look= instant/smooth options (view) to be able to configure it (i would say the old way, but Im trying to believe the way it is now is more realistic) after all we are just staring at a fixed rectangular display, flashing x times a second and could use some spatial awareness when running side by side in a pack of speeding cars

IRL at least in a road car, who hasnt ever turned head to check if youve passed that lorry far enough to pull infront?

I feel so much less confidant turning in on someone whilst pressing unnessary buttons in an attempt to see if I might clip his front quarter, I suppose in a way restricting the ability to instantly look fully to the side will cause some extra racing incidents, or maybe enable passes with much less of a fight than before

I use a G25 wheel atm and for speedy set up just use the wheel/pedals(not the shifter with all the buttons on) this means Ive got 2 buttons on my wheel, that was enough to allow me to look left right and behind with only my 2 buttons. now with new test patch I have to use both buttons just to look left or right 90deg! 45 is ok for a quick glance but 90 is essential in the road cars to pass safely, I feel alot less aware of everything around me with the new 45 or 90 look options, and the hassle of pressing 2 buttons to look 1 way.
I find myself straining to see what in the mirror instead of being able to do a quick 2 button press to look back.

I much preferred the old way, you could look all around your position with 2 buttons only. 45 deg look, looks cool but isint very usefull if you want to see if someones pulling up alongside your rear quarter.

Niki its not about the money, really its not.

I cant find the aplication for the internationals anywhere, was this an invite only league for the internationals?
looking at the names I think I get it invite those you know.

I would have thought run the nationals first, then run internationals with the top drivers from the nationals?

nevermind.

I share similar reservations as Dan, things seem disorganized and info slow to get out, or difficult to find, also I think the forced view and limited payment options, and the fact that this is being run by europeans (no offence intended) for the UK is troubling many potential competitors.

If this was intended for the UK market, wouldn't it feel more comfortable to pay in £s, and to have an english site with full info posted well before the start of the league.

I was very interested when I 1st heard about this thing and asked many questions in the other thread, most were ignored, thats when my interest was lost, that and the awfull website (red/white with QT activeX trying to invade my PC)

problems arn't dealtwith when admins say they will be, Dan was told his old team tag would be removed from the tracker 5 days ago, still hasn't happened, feels like this is just an extension of the international league to try to gain extra funds, but it looks to me like the international league is well run and not enough time or manpower left over to properly organise the UK nationals.

also I hear "UKTC presents" making it sound like its a UK run event, then I hear CTRA are also involved then theres E-Sports, (I understand UKCT are admining and CTRA are for extended appeals?, are not the CTRA staff also UKCT staff? I just don't get it.

I dont want to sound all negative its a good concept and I wish Jo and everyone the best of luck.

Should probably go in Hardware/Wheels and Controllers

I have always had problems with the cables that Logitech use, I have to set up, and pack up, my HW every time I want to race.
In the past few years I've rewired 3 different Logi wheels.

Your problem is there are 6 or 7 (I forget) tiny wires inside the black cable, inside these pretty coloured wires, are even smaller copper strands, and when streched or kinked the copper breaks and your pedals go crazy

If you open and cut-out the offending peice of the cable and reconnect (solder, seperate & double insulate) you would invalidate your warranty so dont do it!!

but thats what I did! (Im somwhat qualified tho )
