Quote from R34GTR :Such a challenge, I'm getting faster at Laguna with the Pontiac, but I'm still only doing 1:50's whereas some people are doing consistent 1:48's :|

It takes time to use the weight of the car to take the corner and then put your foot on the gas in the right place.

Quote from Crashgate3 :Argh... its soo hard to use...

Any tips from those who already have one?

it will take some getting used too. Setting the wheel up and the drivers right is first. Don't use too much force feedback to start with.....

Quote from AjRose :Anyone else run indy yet?

My best so far in the Lotus is 46.961 @197

Edit: 46.559 @ 198.

Best on the forums so far is 46.3 :O

I don't have it yet AJ. Sadly, it's not as iconic for me being across the pond. I'm going to wait for the Indycar and get them both and a 3rd item for 10% off

Does look very good. you like?

Quote from libben :Well, I really dont care for laser tracks and real cars, though they are a nice extra. But the physics, etc etc. The future and all that.

Is this sim better then LFS? What good is a sim if it is the best in simulation but you got a better over all package in another sim like iracing.

LFS is like, hook up online and do some races and so on. If you go to iracing, don't you do more leagues and so on? I get the feeling that this is more incorporated then LFS.

get the free month, try it and make your own judgement. Each sim/game has its own merits and it's therefore, on personal preference if it ticks the boxes or not

Quote from libben :So, read a few pages in here.

Whats the verdict? I don't mind spending the cash it will cost, but im not so keen on oval tracks. I wan't fun racing and so on.

Is this worth the money? Does it has any advantages over lfs except tracks and cars being actual?

I really didn't like oval until I did some iRacing. Once you get past the rookie license up to the class D cars where the pace car is used, it's really a lot of fun. Certainly worth giving a go for those skeptical about oval!

It's a complete system, that includes very accurate tracks and the outfield too for braking points.

If you want to give it a go, you can get a 1 month free trial or I think there are other deals around too that are 3 months for a very cheap price too.

Once LFS brings in some laser scanned tracks (!), it will certainly improve LFS a lot, but laser scanning really does make a huge difference to the feel.

I really enjoyed the Abarth. Great fun indeed. Nice to see a sim doing well and improving in their beta (!) before they make this version ready to go.

Quote from racer hero :I've been practicing some quali runs for Milwaukee, but can't get under 26.8xx. Any tips just to get me started?

my best is a 26.7 in prac. If that's my time then you should be certainly a bit faster.. I'll look for the set I have used. I think I already added it to the download area of our site Ken.

Quote from DaveWS :After having another shocker in the Mazda, (god that car just brings up all of iRacing's flaws, I'd like it to go burn in hell for eternity please) I decided to use $15 of my remaining $25 credits to get the Jetta. Man. So much more fun. I've only done a few laps at Laguna, but it's nice to be able to push a car without it snapping away from you before you have a chance to see what happened. In fact I might get Sebring for next week...

my only gripe with the jetta is that the sound isn't high enough.....

Quote from carey :NK-pro. My reasoning behind this is purely feel, in that it’s the only racing game that has given me the same connection, which you have in real life between the car and the track. Of course this is just my opinion, but I’ve noticed that relative novices (that I know) say the same thing, which’s unusual as normally sims divide opinion and don’t unite drivers of differing levels.

yeah, I know what you mean.... from a feel point, NKP is excellent and the tyre physics are superb (let's hope LFS takes note from how awesome Nkp tyre physics are when they update). iRacing though is a complete package and from that point I do think it's excellent (though still needs work!!)

Quote from carey :but it isn’t the best sim out there, so it certainly doesn’t justify their double whammy subscription model.

I'm intrigued... what is the best sim out there for you, and why?
