Quote from PMD9409 :Finally they add what we knew was all coming...

Now when I go to an Indy Car race I don't have to try and set a fast time in a TurdFactor simulator, it'll be iRacing FTW!

I think we'll have to wait a long time for some of the tracks like the airfield tracks....

the Indy was always going to be coming since they started to sponsor the indycar website.....

really good to hear it's on its way for Autumn though. Maybe it'll get here at te end of this season with the Corvette

Quote from pb32000 :10GB/day is quite a lot to be downloading though.

I think its 10 gig a month usually!

Quote from danowat :I use Eclipse too, get 50GB on peak, and no FUP off peak, bit pricey though, £29.95 a month.

I download ALOT, and as far as I know, its the cheapest package available that gives you no FUP.

You get what you pay for I guess, I get top notch service from them.

that's good to know. I can't get much more than 1.5 meg dload speed due to where I live but I have the old evolution2 package and thats unlimited.

Just wondered... who do you use in the UK for broadband and what do you think of them?

I notice a lot of packages now offered by broadband suppliers now have a usage policy, limiting the amount you can download a month too.

============================

Provider: Eclipse
Have been with them for 6 years and they've been great. Fortunately, I got the package before they changed to a usage policy system and it's been excellent.
Cost: £15/month

Quote from Willem-racer :thats a hell of a long time ago
and 20€ is way to much imo.

the only thing that's noticeable is that Rockclan gets off his arse to try and arrange stuff and all you can do is whine! The person that looks a muppet is you !

Quote from Jertje :I'm so stoked they decided to keep the grids at a decent size!

yeah.... totally! Makes a massive difference, especially as this series should be close racing. My SR took a massive hit in the first race. I was punted off at turn two by a very over zealous ISR presenter

Still a lot of fun despite the car being wrecked. The Jetta is a real feel car

Quote from PMD9409 :So it's just $1 to host, nothing to race?

If so, I'm expecting LM's on road courses the first week its out!

I remember reading something on the forum that was saying ages ago that there would be very little flexibility in what you can and can't do and it would have to mimic current series.....

What I want is Jetta and Late Model multiclass

It's going to be such a difficult balancing act I think. Too many private leagues and it will upset the apple cart for regular races and attendance.

StableX: He's a guest driver just there for one race and getting no points, so there is no age restriction. Think of GTAL where they have guest drivers from IGTC/MoE, same basic concept.

yeah, I realise that but I'd have thought they'd want to give the guest slot to someone in the same age range to show it can work

Info on the series: SCCA

Quote from S3ANPukekoh3 :What is iRacing? How much does it cost? Is there a free demo version?
And is it any better than LFS or rFactor is your honest opinion?
And is it regularly updated..?

I've heard about it and some people seem to think it's quite good...

you can still go to http://www.radicalsportscars.com/racing/virtual-racing and sign up for a free month's trial. You need to add your credit card or paypal but you can cancel that in your account page once all setup for the month.

It's different from LFS and rFactor. LFS still has the best community of any sim but for racing, iRacing has the best environment I think.

It's updated at least once every 3 months.

The best offer on the table right now is $60 for 6 months including the Lotus 1979 F1 car. Additional tracks and cars work out to be between $15 and $25 each.

Quote from Gabkicks :you have to be 26 or under. i forget the minimum age...

I'd be surprised if it was under 26 when they're sponsoring the iRacer this weekend in a guest car at Road America and he's 30.
