Quote from anttt69 :If you wanted to avoid windowed mode i think you can use softth for a twin monitor setup.

If you've got an ATI card, you can do full screen dual screen mode with ease.

Open CCC, go to "Displays Manager" and you'll see your two screens, side by side.

Right click "Desktop 2", and pick "Stretch desktop 1 horizontally onto digital panel".

I run both monitors @ 1440x900, so I get 2880x900 after doing the above.

Also, as I'm a right hand drive man, I have my second monitor to the LEFT of monitor one instead of the right, so I have to right click the monitor box underneath "Rightmost" and click "Swap display mapping". This gives me a spanning resolution with the second monitor on the left.

LFS still works properly at the spanning resolution with the mapping swapped, just make sure you set up the multi monitor options in LFS properly, as IIRC, it'll default to a 3 monitor setup... or rather it did for me.

Put my parts list up on another thread, but not final build specs.

Intel Dual-Core E5300 2.6GHz (Overclocked to 3.6GHz, can do 3.8GHz stable on stock air HSF!!)
Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L (PCI-e @ 125mhz)
2x1GB Kingston PC-6400 800mhz (Just a stopgap until I can afford 2x2GB sticks)
PowerColor ATI Radeon HD5670 (Single screen 3D OC: Core@900mhz, mem@1150mhz)
WD SATA 250GB + WD ATA 200GB
Huntley 400w PSU
Coolermaster Elite 334

Usually using a dual screen setup (Gateway FPD1975W 19" + Samsung SyncMaster 940MW 19", GPU 2D 450/900, 3D 775/1000 (stock)) for everyday usage, music production and LFS, single screen with GPU overclock for power hungry games.

Gets a nice consistent 60fps in DiRT2 @ 720p on Ultra

Quote from lukelfs :No they were at Idle, Its currently at 35/42C Idle, 42/49C Load, They are abit higher than I expected

I'd say. I'm running at E5300 2.6GHz @ 3.6GHz, and I'm getting 31c idle, but with slightly higher load temps, but on the stock HSF.

Have you tried Core Temp for temperature monitoring? I found Everest gave wrong results...

Try 400 x 9 with vCore at or around about 1.18750.

I had an N95 once.

It was crap, slow and clunky. And the screen broke 3 times.

Quote from Flame CZE :Thank you! Where did you find those commands? I mean the forward shift etc., those are not in the documentation.

To be honest mate, I really can't remember!

From a couple of minutes with Google I think.

There's a slight issue though, when using the GUI you can set head tilt to 3, but if you use 3 in the script, LFS doesn't see it and uses 2 instead.

Quote from Flame CZE :Is it really possible to script those? I didn't know that

Yup

My FXR.lfs contains;

//FXR script
/echo ^1FXO GTR:

// Wheel turn
/run /conf/wheel-540

// This controls the gear style switcher. Add another / to switch it off.
/run /conf/gs-seqtopad

// Force feedback (0-200)
/ff 10

// Default view (fol/heli/cam/driver/custom)
/view driver

// Loads settings for driver view movement
/run /conf/view-gtr

and view-gtr.lfs has;

/head_tilt 2.0
/lateral_shift 0.020
/forward_shift 0.025
/vertical_shift 0.012

Different cars load different view .lfs's, one for SS, one for GTR and one for roadcars

Depends on the car.

In the single seaters, I use very low head movements. GTRs get slightly more "shakey" settings, and the roadcars have "bounce about in your chair" head movements.

Yay for LFS scripting!

I've been having this issue on/off for quite a while now, but I'm stumbling at the first hurdle...

... I don't have the correct sized Allen key to get the pedals off. Anyone know what sized Allen key I need to go and buy?

I manage to stop the spiking for a short while with a can of compressed air, but it's not foolproof, and I still get small spikes. Arseloads of dust inside the pedals, but as I can't get the plates off, I can't open the case properly to get rid of it all.

Not only is the dust stopping me from accelerating properly, but I'm highly allergic to the stuff too, and for the last few months I've been coming up in huge rashes on my legs whenever I play LFS

As heson said, the rules are important.

But I do agree that rescue animals should be exempt, surely there's tests they can run on the furry thing to check if he has anything nasty instead of keeping him confined for 6 months.

Quote from NSX_FReeDoM :You know what's most annoying thing of LFS, most of the servers are running Blackwood.

Yup. XFG/XRG@BL. Yawn.

Too many demo servers IMO. How about some of the teams which run them, which seems to be every second one, change it to a decent and underplayed combo?

Do we really need 230861 (numpad mash yay) demo servers which all run exactly the same combo?

Quote from MAGGOT :blah blah blah

Look at the spelling of gymkhana, MAGGOT, and you can CLEARLY see it's tongue-in-cheek.

Nor did I say I could do it. I KNOW I couldn't, but I might be able to, or I'd certainly give it a try if I had enough cash to buy the sort of facilities and equipment they have.

Maybe I should start a shoe company which sells badly made shoes to skateboarders and people with long hair... then I'd be able to build a WRC spec car and spend years and years learning how to drive it properly...

And Travis Pastrana, pfft, he's just someone who has no sense of fear. I ride bikes more then I drive, and I love him on a bike. Dude is a fruitloop, but the whole "rallying" thing just smacks of "Ohh, everyone's bored with me backflipping bikes, perhaps I should borrow old man Block's Scooby and jump over shit in it for publicity...".

Quote from FOGlegsy :And 125cc national motocross champion Lets not forget All those X games medals for rally and moto x events.

Not exactly the hardest rally trophy to win though, is it?

Caught a bit of it on late-night C5 and it was full of complete no-names.

Anyway, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who thinks Pastrana and Block are massive, MASSIVE belms with talent that doesn't come close to a proper rally driver.

OH NO FOON BUT TEH GYMKYAAMMANNA VIDEOZ, zzzzzz, give me shedloads of cash to practice on an airfield for weeks and we could produce a similar, actually BETTER, video.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I haven't used FL Studio but if there's a soft synth in there that will produce square and triangle waves, a distortion effect and a decent 12db/oct low-pass filter, then you should be able to make the sounds yourself.

Maybe look for a bitcrusher plugin too, and maybe a vibrato effect. You could probably get both out of a ring modulator actually.

In a stock version of FLS, you could use 3xOSC for the square and tri's, Fruity Fast Dist for the distortion and Fruity Free Filter for the LPF.

I'd recommend using V-Station for the waves though, much more control. CamelPhat for the distortion (TBH, there's loads of dist's about and most do a decent job) and TAL Multi Filter (freeware!) for the LPF.

Bitcrusher, you want Decimort.

Unless you know what you're doing or have a lot of hours free, I really would recommend you go hunting for some arcade presets and the VST they need.

Just had a quick flick through my Vanguard presets and there's a few in there that have chiptune-esque percussion (kicks, hats, rides, lasers, snares etc) and some with the usual Gameboy style bleepy nonsense.

Quote from bunder9999 :i hate dragging up "old" threads, but i'm gonna do it anyways.

i've wanted to get into music production for a long time now, but with "rock" the way it's been going (to shit, basically around the time y2k swept through), i never got around to doing it.

rather intruiged with what people have been making on youtube in terms of beats and improv-ish music. been listening to ronald jenkees (i'm sure i posted a video here before), this one guy named taurus, as well as scooter, daft punk, eminem, ludacris, and kanye west.

i've done video editing before, and i've played around with FL studio a bit, but i can't seem to find the right stuff to sample, or maybe i'm just not looking hard enough. what i'd really like would be to do some chiptune remixes. anyone here done samping like that before? i'm not sure what genre i'm looking for, either "techo" or "rap".

re chiptunes;

You'd be best to generate the sounds instead of sampling. As they're only oldskool bleeps and bips, they're not hard to recreate.

There's even an "arcade" preset pack for Vanguard IIRC (even contains a lot of the classic LFO'd and PWM'd sounds), but I'd personally recommend something like V-Station or maybe even Sylenth1 for that sorta sound.

Rubens Barrichello when I was working at Volkswagon UK. He was driving for Stewart F1 at the time, which was/is (RBR are there now) right next door.

He stole a fistful of my chips!

Countless big name DJs during my time too, everyone from Jules to Dave Pearce (stole his hat LOLBALDY), PvD, van Buuren etc etc.

Finest moment was harrassing Tiesto after he played an awful prog set at a supposedly \o/ trancey night at Turnmills which cleared the dancefloor completely for all the 3 hours he played. After, he came strolling into the VIP with a huge smug grin which soon disappeared after I called his tune selection sh*t and him an overpaid, underskilled c*nt.

Quote from Sir moi 407 :The problem is that guitar sound a bit strange with this program

Get yourself NI Guitar Rig. 4 is the newest version but I'm on 3 myself. It's an FX insert and it's very, very good.

Couple with a nice guitar generator (Can't remember the name and my Add > Channels list is far too long to find it :P A few minutes on Google and KVR should come up with it) and it's lovely for guitars of all types, from acoustic souly bidness to heavily distorted trashy stuff.
