LFS has easily got the engine to beat every race sim out there at the mo, but there are a few tips it could take from other games, false starts are just one of them, but i still can't tear myself away from LFS, the competition are just not quite in the same league as LFS. i'm not saying the others are crap, but there's something about LFS that makes it very special, the no frills 'we're gona make this baby REAL' approach wins me over. false starts are needed before too long tho
you're refering to the ALS (anti lag system), basically when you close the throttle(in gearchanges mostly)instead of actually shutting the throttle butterfly, it keeps the butterfly open at full bore and cuts the ignition instead (allows the turbo to keep spinning) thus dumping a load of unburnt fuel into the exhaust, witch as a side effect goes boom and can whizz the turbo round even more. hence flames and popping
a backfire's pretty much the same thing, (fuel not burning in the chamber) but caused my many different things (closed throttle on hard overrun is usual for my motor)
and a misfire is usually just a glitchy ignition system etc. that causes the engine to miss a few beats every now and then, (sometimes resulting in a backfire)
BSR.Jarmin uses them, i can vouch for the whole 'messes with you're eyes' argument, they're ok for a short while but i just can't concentrate properly with them on, you get an annoying flicker and you cant read text properly, but they do look cool , there's certainly no advantage to using them. and you do need a seriously fast monitor (100Hz minimum) to get anything like a smooth effect. not really my cup of tea but fun for a while
If you made a real life 450MPH tweak-beast and started throwing it about hard, i've got a funny feeling you'd be beefing things up to take the strains of pulling 5g's+
ATM it's mainly the fact that the cars are virtually standard except for engine and transmission tweaks, that lets the program down a little, so i'm trying to stick with more realistic tweaks for now. 2Ltr XFR's and a 1380cc (roadish spec+tyres) UFR to simulate the average Fast mini etc.
It's amazing to me how little you have to do to a car to change it into something compeatly different
I find using the look buttons quite intuitive, but i keep the settings on 'slow' so i keep orientation better. i'll often tap a button severaly times to get a constant idea of what the other guy is doing but also seeing whats infront of me. it's just a case of picking when and where too look. for me it's mainly the transitions between straight and corner etc, that i try to avoid using them, but mid-corner is OK as long as the car is settled. it does often let you know when something stupid is just about to happen
maybee a two stage system, i personally don't mind having more than two look buttons, being able to glance quickly with one button and have a more serious look with another, be nice to make it more usable (you never know you might even get more people aware that you're about to pass them, instead of the classic 'sorry i didn't see you' even though you're way past they're (blind side) door
24h of LM, spa or the mighty 'ring are my top 3 races of the season, it's just they don't happen in my country and TV coverage is terrible (except LM, but you're usually forced to watch about 6hrs of tennis too on eurosport)
the weight option is simply an 'offset' that effects only the weight of the engine. try a negative value, although don't go too far with it, the car can go a bit mental
i'm sorry if it seemed i got the wrong end of the stick but i've just seen too much evidence to suggest a LOT of peeps are using cracked LFS's, probbly paranoia but the muppets are gettting more common.
they're can't be much to compare to seeing a few hundred different cars (most of 'em loonies) careering through a forest or down a winding narrow road.
I'd have voted for rallying myselft but they banned Group B, so i'll have to go for GT's OR tin-tops
I think it would be nice to know what sort of racing really stirs people up the most, weather it's the glamour of F1, the Passion of endurance racing or the rough and tumble of rallying. If you had to choose one flavour of motorsport which on would it be? Post you're favorite specific series if you like.
there does seem to be tiny problem ATM, i've seen enough evidence to suggest a security update should be part of the next patch, make 'em work it all out again,
once the crack-muppets get pissed off trying to directly work with the exe, it's inevitable that little scams such as this will crop up.illepall
May i be the first to openly suggest 'fighting dirty' with these kiddie's, we know enough about 'em to make 'em think twice about screwing with the ONLY decent title out there.
yeah, i agree with bob, although it's great fun knocking about in 1275GT mini's and Lairy V10 F1 cars it's difficult to go far beyond what the standard car is capable of without serious problems.
BTW tried a 4,500,000BHP MRT5 earlier, the most powerfull shoebox in historyillepall
just a thought (maybee for s2final or the long awaited rally pack )
what about filling in all the gaps in blackwood's surrounding area, i don't mean the scenery, it's just that given the use of some surrounding roads (up to the perimiter fence) would mean we could actually start doing time trials, rallies etc, not to mention enjoy puttering about on actual roads, i'm not asking to be let loose amongst the grandstands, or a complete free-roam, just a continuation of the already existing service roads around the track. i feel this would be worth the time taken.
I've always prefered my mini's with that lovely bumperless look about them, bodykits just dont quite look right on 'em, (bet that bonnet bulge us handy for those twin SU's tho'
yay, i'n not the only one that thinks the UF1000 needs a middle brother,
just enough power to take it level with a GTi etc, it's something that i'm sure will be 'investigated' when tweak is released . i sure will.
the mini is one of the greatest cars of all time, (ask anybody in the world, chances are they've got a funny story involving a mini) and each of it's breeds are different animals, (at the mo we've got a shopping trolley, and a complete beast of a car) it's be nice to show the mini's most familiar sporting character, the Cooper S/1275GT (even a 1071 style, rev monster would be cool)
BTW the mini V-tech is probably one of my most unforgettable driving experiences, a couple of laps of a showground at last years IMM (int'n mini meet) had me grinning for about a month, shame i can't ever get rid of my love for the old a-series engine.
I don't wanna sound like a whinger but, the UF1000 is just too damn slow to be a true simulation of what people race. as good as it is, the Uf1000 and UFR do leave a BIG gap in the middle for the UF1275, it'd be potentially competitive with the GTi and XRG AND be much better suited to all the tracks.
it's just that nobody drives 1000s competitively anymore (IRL) and it'd be more in line with reality.
I'm not talking about a MASSIVE hike in power, about 75-80 BHP would be spot on. and maybe slightly wider wheels to match (keep the 10"s tho') and you've got THE mini racer.
Whenever i go online, there's one thing that still amazes me, nobody EVER joins empty servers, but as soon as I enter one, it often starts to fill.
please don't be put off by there not being anybody there, i know you might even feel a bit stupid driving round on you're own but PEOPLE WILL JOIN!
if you take a look on the host-list you'll usually see loads of 0s and almost full servers, but rarely find any others, instead of simply piling in to the already overcrowded servers, join the one you wanna race in and after 10 min's i guarentee you'll have at least a few joiners
