Quote from Fordman :I keep checking as hope one of these major players brings Cable down to little old Norfolk. They got as far as Cambridge and either thought the technology world stopped there, or they ran out of cable.

I live in Norwich, and we have NTL telly, I know most larger towns and villages are now cabled-up since the phone network relies on the same fibre optic network. It's usually just a case of switching the TV feed on, installing the box, and running a small cable from the end of your garden to your TV box.

you might not have been 'switched on' yet but most of Norfolk is now connected, with a few blackspots around the north walsham area. even my grandad outside old buckenham has NTL broadband. so there is hope for your viewing pleasure.

BTW with a trillion channels to choose from, I still only watch Motors TV

A sad day indeed, It is always very sobering to hear of the loss of one of the good guys, may his soul rest in eternal peace.

It's a good system, I've managed to replace my entire Logitech profiler configuration with LFS scripts. with cycling indicators/hazards, views, and a shifting system that has a push-button 3rd gear selector.

I also have the D-pad (DFP) set to various messages (good pass etc) that automatically switches to arrow functionality when the F11 or F12 menus are selected. There are some quite complex tricks available already and with a few extra commands (basic logic functions etc) we'd have a powerfull tool at our disposal.

Judging by the races we've been having, This is gonna be a seriously busy race!
More signups wouldn't hurt, 2x15 has got to be better than a full track, passing ain't as easy as at some other tracks.

It'd be nice to have a few more tracks, since that's a lot simpler to regulate, and doesn't cause the same sort of problems as addon cars. Although I'm certainly in no hurry, I'm still discovering the delights of the existing tracks, and I've been playing for 3 years. anybody who's bored of what we've got already, probably doen't have much of an attention span.

Good race!

I watched it live on motors TV,

The best moment was probably watching one of the aston mechanics (the french ones) cocking it up badly in the pits by using a shitty pair of grips to puch a caliper-piston back in and popping the others out! bloody idiot cost them the race. shame to see the Radicals retire, the works car early on, and the Roll-center boys going strong (winning LMP2) until 15 minutes from the end when they retired with starter motor faliure in the pits.

6 hours of solid motorsport entertainment!

cool pics BTW, I'd been wondering what happened to the front of the farnbacher porsche

Quote from phatdragonx :I just did a 1:43.99 after 3 laps on SO Long, is this acceptable?

You're probably better than Franky & Zueg then

It's nice to see some new faces (and some old again!). Welcome to the ATC 60 lap GP

I was mooching about searching for fun things to do for free, when i stubled upon LFS S1G demo, I only had a mouse at the time but I was soon hooked, I played the demo for little while and unded up buying an S2 licence just as S1H came out. I spent 6 or so months playing with a trackball, and then bought a crappy MS sidewinder wheel (no FF!) even though i was licenced i stuck with the GTi until S2 came out, and finally got a MOMO! I've since moved on to DFP control and XFR/UFRs are my main steeds at the mo'. I'm still not bored yet

BTW Who is 5. monstor? I don't want to sound like a snob or something but I hope he's a better driver than Stu colditz was at Fern bay. at the risk of offending somebody I hope he's not the monstor on LFSW (with 96 miles under his belt)

I just watched the 91 race. pretty good race really, I've got nothing against Skylines or cossies, although they didn't seem to be particularly reliable!

awesome coverage from the aussies, plenty of commentator-driver chatter and plenty of amusing incidents. It put even modern F1 coverage to shame.

Quote from Smax :Unfortunately the link I had for the 1991 race is now dead, but this link

http://emergencyfork.net/bathurst92divx.avi for the '92 race is still working. Be aware that's a 600 odd mb file. It's Aussie TV coverage [channel 7 iirc]

Try this one

http://emergencyfork.net/bathurst91divx.avi

It works but there don't seem to be any others barring different file names (I only tried changing the year)

:P you're talking to a diesel freak! (my pug does 0-60 in 9, and tops at 125 :P)

The JCBDieselmax got to 365.8mph on its first run and 335.7mph on the return run, giving an average of 350.1mph

Driver Andy Green said: "I am so pleased that we have got the car to 350mph, which was always our ultimate goal and that was with a slow start to the second run. There is so much more to come as the car is pulling like a train and we still haven't used sixth gear!"

Sounds good to me! Doesn't look all that fast to me though

There have been many people posting to say they'd like a Demo 24H race, I think it's a great idea, apart from the limited number of cars able to compete.

If you get a list of people who are REALLY prepared to race for 24H, and form a consortium of organisers, find a reliable server (very important) and make sure it's adminned properly. with a bit of planning a few like minded demo users could could have a lot of fun.

you could even charge each team £4 to enter and give away an S2 licence as grand prize! I'm sure that would focus minds into making it a race to remember!

Just heard, JCB just broke the Land speed record for Diesels! I don't know many of the facts yet. all I know is that Andy green and Richard noble have done it again! Well done boys, you make us proud!

You'll be surprised to find how may other cars are out there on the road sharing the same diff/gearbox as you're own car. Even though it's a suzuki there will be many other suzuki's out there with the same (or similar) bits as yours.

My advise - spend a day out around the local scrapyards and try to find how many different suzuki (or other manufacturers') FWD cars share the same gearbox/boltpattern as yours, and then do a bit of research on the ratios available.

For example - Both Toyota and ford used the same rear axles for years, and for a short period of time, the same gearboxes too. the same goes for Honda/Rover and Daewoo/Vauxhall, Peugeot/Citroen etc.

If you're lucky you'll find a gearbox that'll fit, and with a bit of haggling, it could be yours for £40-100 (depending on car/condition).

I'm not all that sure about suzuki parts compatability but it's gotta be worth having a wander around you're local 'yards to see what goodies you can find. you'll usually come away with an idea about what's possible. I always head for the scrappy if I'm stuck with what to do on a project. they're highly inspirational places for grease-monkeys like me

and remember, Nothing is impossible, but you'll usually find a better (cheaper) way of doing the job another way.

Teamspeak crashed LFS

I'm getting a few issues with LFS crashing (after 'orrible sound glitching and some graphical bugs) when i run Teamspeak at the same time. Is this a common problem or am i just gonna have to try a few different versions etc.

I'll post a more detailed bug report If I can't get anywhere with it.
just wanted to see if anybody knew anything about it.
