this is not the first time somebody has decided they wanted to do a 24 hour race at a moments notice,

I'd actually be happy to help organise such an event for demo racers, they're not all morons (usually far too young to know any better). with better organisation it would be very do-able.

my advise, set up a website (a blog type thingie would even do it) with all details of when, where and what will be racing. you'll ideally need to setup a mail adress for entries and stuff. and you'll need to find a server to use. (it'll have to be a dedicated server for reliability and speed)

the biggest piece of advice i have for anybody contemplating this sort of venture is to DO YOU'RE HOMEWORK! read the rules of the existing series' to get an idea of what is involved. it'll take a few months to organize properly. if you don't spend the time to set this kind of thing up, you'll not have anybody to race. 24 hours is a long tome to race alone.

it might be worth running a 4 hour just to get started, you'll have more racers willing to participate and you'll have a better idea of whats invloved.

good luck!

thats the kind of software we need. the problem is more to do with finding/building hardware. and then sorting software to go with it.

there are some flight-sim cockpit panels and stuff available but they ain't cheap, just the control board (powers 10 or so servos) is about £50 and thats before you add the cost of the panel/cockpit itself

although a simple Printer port shift light would be simple to do

i've had that glitch with a lot of cars when running with below ground CG, although it's not really a bug in that situation.

i'm pretty sure it's when part of the car spawns below ground, it's a pothole or something on the inside of the turn

it's nice but not essential, and it all adds up to a slower game (not much tho), and it's probably worth it for the noobs.

it would be cool to have the regular track menu, but with a button to toggle between regular and grid style menu, (obviously it would have to include reversed layouts and the choice of menu stored in a CFG) but would allow noobs to have a nice track menu with pictures and full names, and a seasoned player can choose to have a fast, abbreviated grid style menu.

the Lateral acceleration Vs Steer angle is something that will help a lot of guys out, it's something that gives the driver a lot of information on when and where to do what. It made a huge difference to my own tecnique when i first used it. it's just a shame we cant have nice colour channels and stuff like their software has.

even just rubbing the other guy a bit (erm...) is dangerous, ok you're not supposed to but it happens, and when it does it's kinda like having body panels covered in Nitroglycerine, one tap and BOOM! you're over there.

it'd be nice to have different amounts of 'give' for each part of the car. also have you ever noticed how hard it is to cave the door in? it's very difficult to make a side impact mark.

less to dodge but more to get hit by

if you have to use a cheat like this to get a decent qually time, you're probably gonna get you're ass kicked when it comes to the race

It's anti-social behavior. there are no excuses.

there are many kinds of idiots in LFS, most of them young males, show them a girl and they don't usually have a clue how to act.

same here, we need less bullsh1t and more racing!

I didn't forget to mention LFS when they asked me why they should give me the laptop. (i'm gonna win it BTW)

the DEMO is fine, i played the demo (ok it was S1) for 6 months before i could buy a licence, it was fine, i didn't get bored, I just concentrated on being as fast an as clean a racer as i could be. if you're the kind of person who'll get bored with what you get (12 combos in all) then you're probably not the kind of person I wanna be racing.

LFS takes a fair bit of practice to get up to a competent level, i say leave the content alone as i gives the noobs something to concentrate on.

and if you've been playing the demo for more than a year, then bollocks to you whinging about more content, there can't be many people that can't afford £2 a month (in the west at least)

Quote from xpjames :Why don't we jst get an open option where the whole of the track layout is there and people can block and reroute the track so that they just have the sections they want! You could use SHIFT+U and layout the whole of the track as you want to!

This would solve the problem of people still wanting their own layout!

it's something i've dreamed about regularly, it'd be very complicated for LFSW etc, but pretty cool for messing about on.

I like the idea of Kyoto Ring Natval GP long! although it'll be about a 4 minute lap, might be one for endurance races tho'

after taking a nice set of bends or a roundabout at decent pace i'll often check my split times in the top-right of my windscreen, all that tells me iswhen my MOT runs out.

I do get problems with my real car feeling really odd, especially the pedals, after a long LFS session. and i've found my steering to actually be heavier in LFS, even though it's only set at about 40% (DFP).

And i just cant get used to driving with my shoes on!

BTW I computer all the time!

Around 30 seconds after the ATC GP at Blackwood my lovely green chair decided to break spectacularly, the welds obviously not up to the stresses of 60 laps. distressed but unharmed I've had to look for a replacement.

I'm currently sitting in a very sorry looking "computer" chair from argos. It moves about a lot and i've already got a couple of bruises on my legs from the nasty armrests (bent bits of metal), I HATE this chair, It's killing me (and my lap times)

It's vital i find a replacement soon, unfortunatly in my current stock of garage crap i only have a nasty brown skoda drivers seat. oh well, at least it's free!

Regardless of weather or not you like/use MS software, the important thing is to have a new, derogatory name ready for the release. It's a geek tradition that has existed long before the idea of an OS was even concieved.

I'm not gonna start bashing Vista straight away, i'm gonna wait until they release Vista SE SP2 PLUS.

at least with LFS it's got Alpha written all over it

I too lost my cable and internet, missed the start but it was working from about 8 onwards.

My predictions were close ish! but thats the beauty of Le mans.

Good race to all involved, especially RML and Radical.

The Nature of endurance racing changes from now on. with so many diesel entries to endurance races. Diesels work, with modern dovelopments like common-rail injection, and Variable geometry turbos, diesels have really come of age.

How long before we see a diesel WRC?

my pre race prediction - 1st audi, 2nd & 3rd pescorollo,

GT1 - Aston Martin 1st & 2nd, 3rd corvette

I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on the GT1 battle, it's gonna be a classic!

any relation?

I'd like to see pesco' win but i'm sure the audi's will put up a serious fight, it's not like they're new to this game, but then again neither are pescorolo and they're hungry.

the GT battle should be pretty good too, with Aston finally coming with a capable enough car to take the honours away from them damn yankees. the aston's also a lot nicer to look at!
