there's only so much you can do to minimize the harshness of the bumps. too soft and you'll loose the transient grip needed for the twisty bits (around 1st split, and just after the hairpin) although it's down to personal taste at the end of the day, as long as i'm not actually sitting in the car i don't worry about a bumpy ride, just having the tyres sticking when i want them too

yeah, good races last night! I narrowly avoided retiring due to spectacular accidents in 2 of the races (3 pit-stops in a 20 lapper doesn't look good for a 60 )

If you can run 1.41s consistantly without bouncing of any walls in the proccess then you'll be in good shape for a podium.

It's a challenge, and I won't say it's gonna be easy, and at around 1h45m it's not exactly a short one either, but not too long to put everybody off.

It's gonna be a good match between XFR and UFR too, they seem pretty even on pace, the UFR is good around the tight bits and the XFR making headway on the straights. although the UFR suffers a bit over the bumps.

It's built by Lotus here in norfolk, so being a nosey so and so, I've been stopping for a quick peek at the factory every now and then on my way home (there's a lovely little spot at the far end of the test track ) I've spotted a car I think might be it, making a very odd noise for a sports car (sounds like a supercharged fridge!) It was of course covered with masking panels so it was an ugly thing but it was going like stink!

I'll see if I can get a good picture of it next time i see it, but i'm likely to get thrown off the embankment if i get spotted by the goons (it's happened before, but it makes me want to see what they don't want me to )

Quote from Tweaker :Also, some force feedback effects don't happen while you are turning.

I think that's mainly to do with the fact the wheels crossing the ripples aren't loaded up enough to really feel them, and the tyres absorb most of the 'microbumps'. When the average car is pulling 1-1.2Gs almost all the weight is off the inside wheels.

I've been getting the same sort of thing but with both Momo and DFP over the last 2 years.

It's damn annoying! but unfortunately I can't find the problem either. Is it the new bug from logitech maybee, 'cos my pedals are fine!

An admin isn't necessarily a person of responsibility, but a person of power.

Usually this power is used in a good way, but with some people that power goes straight to their heads. The "It's my server and i'll do what i want" mentality will never trully leave us, all youo can do is let these people carry on with thier narrow minded, and often selfish attitudes. We need to simply let nature take it's course, if the servers die on their arses due to lack of popularity, then so be it. if they increase their popularity, there's obviously enough people out there thinking on the same wavelength.

If you download setups from the 'net (team inferno etc.) you've got two choices. You can double click on the setup file and when it asks what program to open it with, select LFS, it'll copy the file to the correct directory for you.

Or you can simply copy the .set files into LFS/data/settings

you'll proably find that firefox is no different to IE in functionality, I've been using it for a a couple of years now and it seems faster than IE, with the added bonus of less popups and more (some of them very cool) plugins.

and of course it's not by micro$oft

AS club is a pretty good track to learn. it's short which makes it fast to learn, it's popular so it's easy to find and it's fairly forgiving if you get it wrong.

T1 is a nice tight constant radius turn that'll teach good throttle control

the T2 chicane is a good one for teaching moderation, brake nice and early and keep the car settled, if you run wide here you'll bugger up the right hand part and plough into the wall.

the T3 chicane will show you when it's good to use balls and when it ain't

and the final complex has so many lines through it you can explore the car's capabilities. oh and mind the kerbs.

I know you said Reversed and Yes it's much better than normal, but I still don't like it. it's a very forgiving track but I like the nasty ones that bite you if you get it wrong. we've already had 2 GPs of the last 7 at blackwood

Are you actually gonna be racing with us this time Vain? I can't remember ever racing you in a GP.

BTW how many GPs have there been? I know I missed one at westhill i'm not sure about the rest.
I've raced in these:

XFG/BLGP
XFR/Kyoto Nat Rev
XFR/Aston club
XFR/BLGP
XFR/Aston North
UFR/Fern bay green rev

I'm just wondering what I've missed

At the mo' I'm stuck with a cheapy argos 'computer chair'. it's uncomfortable, it moves about and creaks alot and has nasty 'armrests' that do nothing but leave big bruises on you're legs (!?)

I've got a couple of nasty brown seats from an old skoda but they smell funny. although they would be more comfortable. If the next GP is any longer than the last I'm gonna have to invest some serious time down the shed welding up a new seat base.

It would be cool to have a flying lap average worked out, not counting first, last and pit laps. I might work some of 'em out later.

Quote from spyshagg :

the next one was gentlefoot and leprekon before Theafro came by them...

My apologies to GF for buggering up his race with Lep, sorry about getting in you're way (repeatedly) I tried to hold back a bit after seeing you two going at it a bit, then I made a go of It to catch you after the 2nd split and pass in the slower bits before the straights but I cocked it up badly by throwing myself off at the last 2 corners and ended up slowing you down too much.

I couldn't even catch Lep after that.

I need to bind a key to "I can wait, finish your battle" so I don't disturb the backmakers so much, I've been in that situation myself too many times and it's frustrating as hell to have a blue flag interrupt a good race.

Good Pic Cropsy! I love ziggy's Picture in the corner!

I'd like to point out that Tukko Most definately got the fastest time with a 1.11.49 - a clear 1/2 second faster than me.

Can i suggest turning on the RB4 for recovery duties before the end of the race. would save unnecesary DNFs

So LONG, 'cos it's says long in the title. I'm a sucker for punishment!

I don't want to see Aston again for a little while, after the harrowing (it's the only way to put it) race there last time around. AS club is way too short and Blackwood's boring

Kyoto National Is a good 'un but might be too long for some, although the turnout at REV was pretty good and it was an excellent race.

I'd have a go at FE Gold in either direction too.

edit: just done a few laps of both, SO long is the one for the next GP without a doubt.

shame about ypu're incident earlier on spyshagg I was looking forward to racing you, we seemed pretty even in the warmup.

Guess that's even now tho

Had a good chase trying to lap Leprekaun , I nearly caught him But he pulled away quite nicely towards the end.

Qualified in 3rd with a Pb on first flying lap! I just sat around in the pits after that, I guess i was just in the zone

started faily cleanly got to keep my third spot during T1, so it was going better than normal. started chasing after the leading pair. they were pulling ahead of me for a bit but they started battling a bit hard, so I caught them up. Renku has a bit of a spill on around lap 4, and tukko jist pissed off into the distance! I tried to catch but although I was averaging about 1.13.00 It wasn't enough to catch, although I was keeping up (at a distance) It wasn't long before he was out of view.

Lap 45 Ish My front tyre started to get Far to cold for comfort And stopped me putting on any real pace.

I nearly cried whe i saw Tukko in the sand, his blip getting closer and closer, so i chased hard for the next few laps. Lap 56 I pass Tukko in the sand at the last complex after the 2nd split. He was beached pretty bad.
Well done Franky and Zueg, Valiant effort but sadly to no avail. Zueg needs a Medal for the time spent on his roof, But Make Sure Stewie Colditz gets a bigger one, like Ziggy said "Every time you see him he's just crashed!"

Shame about Tukko's crash but There you go, that's racing>

Thanks Franky and co. Good Race!

there isn't really a probelm after the field has passed the wreckage, it's only really and issue immediately after the accident has happened, when the drivers involved are still recovering. it's damn frustrating trying to make you're way around a crashed car only to have the it move into your path and take you out aswell

i find there are way too many variables to brake at the same point every time, i'll use something as a marker, but vary where in relation to that marker i brake. it's a combination of both i suppose.

there are quite a few clubbie racers that use locked diffs it works but yeah, the steering forces can be unbearable. the only reason locked diffs are so popular in LFS is due to the fact that we don't have decent LSDs yet, and we don't have to deal with hurrendous steering forces.

when we eventually get a properly modeled plate-diff we'll see a lot more people using them.

Stop asking for more content please

I'm not even sure this thread is really needed, but it must be if there a so many threads asking for licenced stuff and more content.

it's simple really, WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE CARS/TRACKS, at least not for a while. we're not gonna get an update for a little while and even if we did it's almost certainly not gona have much more in the way of new cars.

If you're bored of what we've got already, you've probably not explored the cars we have to the fullest. LFS is a RACING simulator, and we've got enough different styles of cars to happily simulate most types of racing well enough.

A lot of people have been spoiled by games like GT4 and forza, and even by the BMW sauber we recieved in the last full update. LFS is not the sort of game that gives content over quality, learn to love what you've already got, and by the time you're REALLY bored with what LFS has to offer, it'll be time for S3
