Yup, unfortunately Jimmie proved its too easy for one person to just be decent all year but then crank it up for the last 10 races and win the championship. I'm not saying he's a bad driver and couldn't win the championship without the Chase because I think he still would have had a couple titles, but there's no way he wins 5 in a row under the old format. The Chase is entertaining this year, but I'd still rather get rid of the Chase and keep the new points system, which I do like.

I don't really think that's accurate though, you know people drove differently over the course of the season knowing that the Chase was coming. Would have been a different story if people knew they had to be leading all season and couldn't just wait until the Chase to turn things up.

I'll start working on the budget for that.

I posted about this on the Glen forums, this was the Glen president's response to the twitter comment:

Quote :takes two years to put together a program and we are planning for 2013, we hope! I think the comment was taken out of context since I have speaking to NASCAR about this for almost 2 years and the schedule needs to fit just right for both of us.

2013 is going to be a crazy year for me, I've already told myself I have to go to the V8 supercars in Texas and F1 in NJ. Add the trucks at the Glen to the list.

Yeah, I have no idea why they'd do that. I thought they'd get a pretty decent crowd for the trucks, especially if they paired it up with the Grand Am 6 hour race.

According to Jayski, the Glen isn't getting a truck race after all. Boo. I wanted to see them test out running the long course with the trucks, would have been awesome.

Quote :Status of road course races being added to Camping World Truck Series 2012 schedule; On Twitter -- When NASCAR's Steve O'Donnell was asked about Watkins Glen being added, he "tweeted" in response - "Watkins Glen declined."

Sounds like they're still going to do Road America though.

Quote from Rappa Z :What did Todd Bodine do to ruin his reputation?

Wrecking his own teammate in the middle of a straightaway, plowing into another car after the race was over, just generally acting like a jerk. I never really liked the guy all that much anyway.

Awesome cup race Sunday, took forever with all the cautions but it was entertaining for the most part. Hate that Kenseth and Keselowski didn't end up with good finishes, if Stewart can't win the championship I wanted one of them. Tony is looking really strong, can't wait for these last three races.

Wouldn't they just limit the amount of fuel electronically though? I imagine they're still restricted, just without the plates. Someone will have to come up with a new name for the racing if we can't call it "plate racing" any more.

Quote from DieKolkrabe :Chad (allegedly) told Jimmie to wreck the rear of the car after 'Dega

Doesn't surprise me, he's a known cheater.

Is it just me or is Pocono getting through this repave process pretty fast?

I could swear they're only on like the third week of the project and its already almost repaved, they could have fit this in before the June and August races if they wanted.

At least it sounds like Nascar knows most people don't like the 2 car draft and they're trying to fix it, hopefully they figure something out before Daytona but with the bumpers lining up like they do, the drivers are going to do everything they can to push each other.

Gordon really needs to bring that disgusting mustache back.

Kahne's is pretty funny too, nice hair.

I saw a survey not too long ago that pointed to fans liking the old style of drafting better than the two car packs, I think the two car thing is actually hurting attendance. After going to Daytona this year, I definitely wouldn't go to another plate race if they're still racing that way.

I was actually pretty worried when I saw Regan's crash, looked just like Earnhardt's crash at Daytona and he hit the wall a ton.

I don't understand why Nascar can't just make a rule saying you aren't allowed to push people around the track any more, how hard is that? It's just the stupidest form of racing I've ever seen.

I didn't really see a ton of switching yesterday, the 2-car pack racing is getting more boring and boring. End of the race sucked, Paul Menard totally blew it for Stewart and let Burton and Bowyer get away for the win. Points are still pretty close, especially if Edwards slips up at all in the last races.

Hard to tell but the transition from turn 2 to the backstretch looks more gradual from this angle, I remember the old Phoenix liked to send you right at the outside wall.

I don't think they're going to ruin the track, I just wish they could have started the project earlier so it could have been paved before winter and had time to weather a little bit. As it is now I don't see them getting the paving done before it starts snowing.

Pocono is getting repaved.

http://www.poconoraceway.com/repave2011.html

I don't remember seeing any definite articles about this beforehand but the track is already getting ripped up so its happening. Sounds like they're keeping the same configuration so that's good at least. Could be an exciting race next June with the shorter 400 mile race length and new pavement.

Tony's really making a run at this championship, let's see if he can hold it together for 8 more races.

I was listening to Tony on the radio most of the day and I know for one of the cautions the spotter didn't know where the debris was but Tony called it right out since he had seen it on the track already. I do hate debris cautions though, I would rather see the drivers just avoid stuff until a real caution comes out for something then they can clean it up.

I didn't make it, finished 3rd in both segments and even though I was 2nd overall that didn't cut it. It looks like we still get scored for the LFS league for the chase races too though.

I'd say that might have been the most entertaining race of the year, Vickers blocking Ambrose on the track after he wrecked him was pretty hilarious.

Quote :But the appearances did give Mark Martin an opportunity to respond to allegations from Regan Smith that he intentionally wrecked Smith at Atlanta.

"Wow I just saw the replay, I was wondering if it was intentional at the time. Now there's no doubt in my mind," Smith posted on his Twitter page after Tuesday's race. "A driver as talented as Mark doesn't just take a right turn going in a straight line. We had contact on a restart 10 laps prior, racing deal each continued on no harm no foul The wreck following was no racing deal."

Asked about the allegations, Martin initially dismissed the discussion by flatly offering "We had an accident."

He perked up, though, when asked if it was similar to an incident he had earlier this summer at Michigan with teammate Earnhardt, and if the 52-year-old driver is refusing to take any (incidents) on the race track.

"With the way the racing has become today, the double-file restarts, how equal the cars are, it's pushed everyone to really a whole different level of driving then it used to. So part of that requires less sportsmanship and more me, more selfishness and less sportsmanship," Martin said. "I'm falling right in there with the gang. The deal with Dale Jr. was a complete and total accident, and I took responsibility for that accident. I thought that I was going to get off the corner ahead of him and he got there sooner than I thought he would. I'll just say again, these restarts, they're getting pretty tough.

"I'm not going to be run into. I'm not going to be run into. I don't run into people and people aren't going to get away with running into me."

Quote from PMD9409 :Yeah I failed by picking Kyle yesterday. Weather pooned me.

Mark might be turning blind or deaf I don't know. I love the guy, I have pictures and stuff of him in my room, but he just straight turned into Regan down the backstraight yesterday.

Didn't Regan bump him on the restart before that? I know Mark isn't that kind of driver, and Regan seems to drive everyone clean from what I've seen, but I was wondering when I saw the replay if Mark didn't mean to tap him a little bit.
