I don't understand what you want the guy to say, I'll take Kyle Busch any day over 75% of the other drivers who would just act like they don't care they missed the chase and then thank their fans and sponsors.
Really looking forward to this Jeff Gordon mustache.
I'm hoping he does well in the race tonight, if only to prove how much better of a driver he is than Danica when he has some decent equipment under him.
More specifically, I keep hearing Mosport being thrown around. Only 4 hours from me, depending on when this happens I could definitely see us making the trip if they actually go there.
Heard there is a possibility of Hornish at least getting a part time ride in the #12 in Cup next year, he has at least earned that.
Sadler is also leaving RCR in Nationwide and it sounds like he's going to Gibbs. Probably a good move for him, no room for him at RCR with the Dillon boys moving up the Nascar ranks.
Also I just remembered, what the hell is up with all those praying mantises in the stands? Seemed like every spot we moved around to during the course of the weekend we saw at least one. Funniest thing was when one of my friends tried to stare one down, it started doing a little dance and then attacked him. Scared the crap out of him and everyone behind us was laughing.
I'm not completely convinced the track is always going to race like that though, I want to see what happens to the top groove once it weathers a little bit.
Yeah that's why I was so shocked Stewart and Kenseth crashed, seemed a little early to be racing like that but I loved how hard people were racing once that high line got worked in. I was honestly pretty disappointed the first 100 or so laps because no one could go anywhere even if they had a fast car, business really picked up later on though. The dive bombing and slide jobs were pretty awesome. Hated to see Tony crash but that helmet throw made my night. Overall, loved Bristol, can't wait to go back again.
It actually started raining slightly when we were driving home. Who knows if they tried to clean up all that oil and then had a couple GWC's because you know someone is going to wreck in Turn 1, it might have started raining at the track again. They made the right call, everyone had to deal with the same thing and it was a great finish. I completely lost my voice on that last lap haha, can barely talk today. I like how Brad got out of the car and went straight to the Stanley guys to shake their hands, super classy move.
Yup. That storm was ridiculous, we knew it was coming though so we were packed up and ready to go when it started raining, sucks about the lightning strikes though. I do actually remember one huge strike going off right in front of us when we were in line to get out of the infield, that was over by gate 3 where they said the person got killed.
That's crazy if that's what it was like over in the main parking lots, we couldn't really see over there because it was raining so hard so I didn't know there was that much lightning.
My run of 3 races in 4 weekends starts in a couple days. Going to Pocono, the Glen, and Bristol. My brother was going to try for number 4 at Atlanta the weekend after Bristol, but last I heard the wife was shutting that down haha.
Getting to see Tony Stewart drive an F1 car for the first time at Watkins Glen last year was very cool. Also the time he showed up unannounced at a World of Outlaws race was memorable. He does that kind of stuff all the time but its just cool to see a guy that has accomplished as much as he has still show up at a little dirt track in the middle of nowhere just to race.
Best sporting event I've ever been to might have to be the lacrosse championship game that happened in my home town this past spring. The NLL is the "major league" of lacrosse here but it is still a very small sport. Well we were in the championship, at home, and ended up going down 5-1 in the first half. Start the second half with 5 straight goals to go up 6-5 and never lost the lead after that. The building was so loud when we went on that run it was crazy, I've been to plenty of racing events in my life and my ears were ringing just as much after this game.
Definitely don't change the Indy 500, lights might just be nice for Nascar to make their race a little bit different and get the fans out of the heat of the sun. Could always do some Indy practice at night just for the hell of it. How about the Indy cars go back there a second time later in the year and race the road course at night? That could be a hit.
The Glen is super smooth anyway, I've done track days there. I think they want to repave because they've had problems off and on with parts of the track coming up, I know the turn coming out of the boot was falling apart during the Grand Am race last month.
I don't think it was a bad race, but Jimmie dominating so hard was kind of boring.
Indy has been talking about adding lights for a night Nascar race, wonder how much that would actually bump attendance up. I know we might try to make the trip if they went forward with that plan, I think a night race there would be cool.
In other news, Watkins Glen still doesn't have a sponsor for their race in 2 weeks. Sounds like they planned on repaving the track next year but now they're cancelling that because of the lack of sponsorship money from this year.
Eh. The new Camaro looks ridiculous enough as it is on the street, looks even worse as a stock car. I'm really looking forward to the new Cup cars next year, they look so much sleeker than the new Nationwide cars, which still look like flying bricks.
