I hope you don't actually think that looks good...

No way Chevy puts out a car that ugly on the same platform as the G8, which was beautiful. That looks like someone slapped the front end of an S-10 pickup on a Camaro. Gross.

Sounds like they won't be at the cookie cutters either, as they are less than 2 miles.

They used to have the shark and decklid fins on at all races before right? I'm glad to see those go.

Quote from PMD9409 :Less side/rear downforce.

Less downforce is always a good thing for these cars.

Just watched the press conference to announce the changes to Bristol, they're grinding down the outside groove to remove the progressive banking up there.

Quote from Cornys :There's been some talk of JR finding victory lane this Saturday night...

Haha, there's been "some talk" of JR finding victory lane for years now. I'm hoping he saves it for the Bristol night race, that place would go nuts if he finally broke the streak.

The big block modifieds is the main thing we're going for. The Super Dirt Series runs under the same sanctioning body as the World of Outlaws, just more of a regional northeastern US series instead of touring all over the place like the Outlaws.

First big local dirt race is this weekend, bringing a bunch of people who are into Nascar but have never been to a dirt race before, I can't wait to see their faces. A half mile dirt track is a lot different than going to Pocono for Nascar haha.

We've been slowly turning everyone we know into at least casual Nascar fans. It usually only takes one race.

To say that crash was Newman's fault at all is ridiculous, Newman was off his bumper and Bowyer was still accelerating into the corner before any of the crashing started. He had plenty of time to slow down if that's what he wanted to do. Plus, Newman moved to the inside first before Bowyer jumped out in front of him. The dive bomb by Bowyer probably wasn't the wisest move, but Johnson and Gordon gave him no room either. You might be able to go 3 wide at Martinsville, but you definitely can't go three wide and all be on the concrete, no room for that.

I couldn't have been happier with that crash. Didn't want to see Gordon or Johnson win and Bowyer taking himself out too was just icing on the cake.

It worries me that he sounds like he's going to try something slightly different again instead of just going back to the exact old track. Just hope they don't screw it up again, I figure they've probably learned from their mistakes though.

Thanks, I'm sure I've said it before here, the lower the better as long as you can see the whole track. I'll go with those seats, pretty sure they're almost right on the start finish line too.

Quote from Cornys :From the sound of it there aren't may left. The rep. I spoke to kept giving me seat locations, but then saying that there were only two in the location together.

I needed 4 seats, and they were hard to find but I suppose that they are still avalible on the front.

I'm just looking on stub hub, little more expensive than going straight through the speedway I'm sure but we need 4 together like you, and I don't mind paying a little more to sit in a decent spot. Everyone in my group just agreed on front stretch, so that's where we'll be. I'm wondering if Allison Row 23 is high enough to see the whole track? Don't want haulers blocking the backstretch.

I'm about to pull the trigger on tickets too, might save a small amount of money and go for Pearson seats in Turn 1 but we'll probably just do front stretch tickets.

Quote from Rappa Z :Are people really not showing up to Bristol now because it offers side by side racing?

Nascar writer Jeff Gluck put it better than I ever could:

Quote :"Bristol is no longer a must-attend event. When the track had one groove and drivers had to bump their way past competitors to gain track position, the Bristol race was like watching a NASCAR bullfight.

Fans came to see cars rubbing fenders and tempers and crashes, and the drama required everyone to be glued to their seats to see what would happen next. If you liked NASCAR, you had to be there; if you weren't there, you were jealous of those who scored a coveted ticket.

Not anymore. Bristol now has side-by-side racing, but it also has long, green-flag runs and few crashes. The official race report listed just one multi-car crash in Sunday's race.

That's not the Bristol racing most fans really want, but many people in the industry are still having trouble accepting it.

The purists continue to talk about "real racing" and try to guilt those of us who enjoyed the old Bristol drama into feeling bad about it. Their oft-repeated stance is if fans can't find a way to enjoy the new Bristol racing – the cleaner, tamer kind – then they're not real NASCAR fans.

I disagree. The purists are missing a key point: "Real racing" occurs at nearly every other track in every other week. The places fans want to see side-by-side excitement is at 1.5-mile intermediate tracks, not a half-mile short track where drivers should have to root and gouge for every position.

Bristol was once a must-see because it was unique. But since the reconfiguration, the racing seems to be about the same as at every other track."

Quote from PMD9409 :Speaking of Bristol, Bruton Smith is talking about maybe changing the track back to Pre-2007 (when it sold out 55 races in a row). Final decision should be known by the end of the week. If they change, Smith said it would be done before the August night race.

You have a link to back that up? Tickets will definitely go fast if they change the track back, and we're planning on going this year. If they're going to do this we'd definitely get our tickets now.

Edit: Here it is:

Ah the Caprice, the ugly version of my G8 haha.

I wish they'd use the Malibu, saw one of the new 2013 ones at an auto show last week and I think they look pretty good.

Can someone post some kind of link to the fantasy league?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get back there on the Nascar site even though I played all last year. Haven't even been able to pick drivers this season because I can't find out how to get there.
