Quote from dekojester :I've actually re-done the calendar - intending to start season on 17th August, and then races shall be every two weeks on from there, for seven rounds.

Is tracks order ready?

After I checked my working dates, I can say that I will most likely miss:

round 3 (aug 31)
round 6 (sep 21)
round 7 (sep 28)

This can change if I take vacations (can miss less or even more then )

I guess we should all write such info so admings might reconsider calendar...

Did a short test. Resetting car somewhere around the middle pit spot worked fine.

Quote from Aukoue :I don't know what's going on, but for some reason, I can't set up the G25 in LFS. Right now, the main problem is the degree of rotation. I have set it to 900 in the profiler as well as in the game, but for some reason I get like 30 (besides, the in-game wheel is not centered when the G25 is). The force feedback is messed up as well, but it's a whole different story. I know that the steering wheel is working properly, because everything is perfect in other games. I am willing to pay $10 to anyone (via PayPal, but I also have some Amazon gift cards if you prefer that) who can solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

The profiler has 2 places where u can set things -- Global device settings and Specific profile settings (or something like that, u can easily find it in the menus). Try to set the same at both places. I remember I messed with this stuff. No need for $

Do you read me? In practice and qualification.

Having ability to have race practice (and qualification) without sending setup-package to each other would be nice. I guess cars will look laggy, but it will solve the problem mostly.

Quote from hibooost :Okay, so I have the same problem as 2nd post (missing textures - need to download a dll of some sort.) What do I do? I'm not very tech savvy at all. I'd love an explanation that would be easy for me to understand. Thanks guys.

Install winetricks from the repository. If it is not included in your repository, just download it:

$ wget http://winetricks.org/winetricks
$ chmod +x winetricks

then run it (remove "./" if you installed it from the repository):

./winetricks

Then select "default prefix", then "Install app or DLL", then select "D3DX9_43.dll" from the list...

After installing that D3DX9_43 DLL u should have those textures back

Quote from Scawen :As some people pointed out, it can't be made impossible. Your LFS.exe must decrypt a setup and hackers can figure that out. Setups in replays are already encrypted but as LFS can read them, hackers can read them too. It would be nice to make setups impossible to read and LFS licensed content impossible to crack but unfortunately that is not possible.

Do I get it right: you need to be able to decrypt setup of everyone for every instance of LFS connected to a server?

Quote from Amynue :While new Westhill looks great, I can't help to notice that there is one thing which looks rather awful. It's the shadows. I mean, look at this:
http://i.imgur.com/65GaXQx.jpg
With red I've marked the shadows which look either weird or out of place. Yeah, that's like 80% of all shadows in the picture.

Some objects on the other hand don't have a shadow at all. Like cones and bilboards in here: http://www.lfs.net/page_images/screenshots/WST006.jpg

Westhill is still in developement, so it may improve, but if we take a look at existing tracks, it doesn't look any better:

http://i.imgur.com/o2Qlh7P.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/xx1Tdcp.jpg

So yeah, are there any plans to improve track shadows? I wouldn't prioritize this over finishing the tyre physics - but then again - I have no idea how much time would it take to implement better shading system for the tracks.

I wonder why they don't use just baked shadows (those which stay on textures) instead of this mess...

Quote from Oliver Feistkorn :Great pics, I hope new Westhill will be more suitable for BF1 races

What is wrong with it now? Well... I mean. What exactly do you mean?

I wonder if it was planned when current tyre model was developing: You can go 44 laps (more than 45 minutes race) on Slick R1. And this is true for many other tracks...

So the point is: it is hard to test those tyre dynamics properly (because you need lots of data), so why to bother making it perfect?

Anyway, these are good news after a bad day

Run LFS! :auto:

Quote from UnknownMaster21 :It is a default option, if firewall ( or any antivirus software with firewall) pops out on the window, it is easier to select "allow connection", if having first time starting the LFS.exe. Also, after that you can select not window on connection and it stays on memory afterwards.

For me it comes back to window [yes] for every patch. I don't care much though...

Quote from DANIEL-CRO :...no multithreading and D3DXSaveTextureToFile now write to temporary file...

Somehow it runs faster than previously (7 seconds now vs 13 before).

My guess is that it could fail to work in threads, like if it was using some common buffer, I donnow. Does it use GPU in any way? Maybe GPU driver failed for me, it is AMD and it sucks in drivers side

vitaly_m, nikopdr and Jussi-Pekka confirmed that their problems dissapeared when using this version. I'd like to hear from Ebbu94 as well.

I wonder what the problem was, and how did you fix it

What kind of team are you looking for? Race
Age: 22
Country: Russian Federation
Preferred Car/Track: Formulas! FO8, BF1, FOX, FBM (in order of preference)
Average Laptime on Your Preferred Car/Track: Luckily I have a couple of AIWR best laps (see http://stats.airio.eu/PCS.aspx?U=vitaly_m ), donnow what to say more... In events sometimes I get slow still, but things slightly change after I bought new PC
How Active Are You? Can spend up to 3 4-hour evenings in a week, but I have 2-by-2 work days schedule...
What Kind of Control do you use? G27 in service currently, so I use mouse (which doesn't make me much slower, just a bit more unstable)
Time Zone: UTC+4

I am looking for a team which targeted on single-seaters races (if there is not such events now, we might try to organise some?). Want to practice and race together with people like me. I prefer people to act respectfully to each other and trying to be clean on track (for me is better to keep slow than crash someone in a desperate overtake attempt).

If you just plan to organize a team with such things in mind - write me as well.

Hope I didn't run out of letters here :maggiesim

I guess we should provide more info here, so Daniel can try to find the problem.

Please provide information about your setup - OS, architecture (32 or 64 bits), video card, CPU...

My setup is: Windows 7 64bit, AMD R9 270, AMD Trinity 5600 (4 cores).

Quote from MadCatX :A heads-up for Linux gamers using Logitech wheels. Due to this change (https://git.kernel.org/cgit/li ... 5e5c99d0d657d22a7dbc69334) it will no longer be possible to easily change the range of the wheel without proper permissions through sysfs. We intend to write a udev rule to resolve this situation properly and securely.

I'd be thankful if you keep us updated here

Quote from sicotange :D3DX9_43.dll definitely did wonders. I wonder though if the antialiasing issue is due to Wine.

In single player on AU1X I get 60 FPS but as soon as I turn on antialiasing the FPS drops to an unplayable 5-10 FPS. Does anyone experiences this with a more powerful PC than mine (Asus UX32A)?

I'm looking into it as we speak

I have AMD Trinity 5600 CPU (3.8 GHz) and AMD R9 270 videocard. On windows I have good performance, but on linux with open source driver game is unplayable (around 50 FPS without anti-aliasing and around 20-30 with it). I didn't try AMD drivers, but I guess they would change the image.

But as far as I know AMD drivers wouldn't work on any modern linux for your PC, as they dropped support for older GPU's on modern linux kernels

Quote from Bean0 :Just noticed that the track map changes colour when cycling through cars in the latest test patch.

It is lighter when viewed in an FZ5 or RB4, and darker when viewed in an FO8.

I guess it is rather feature -- car roof is dark, so you need a lighter map

Quote from MadCatX :The problem seems to be isolated to JPEG textures - as is somewhat confirmed by this "fixme" message

fixme:d3dx:D3DXCreateTextureFromFileInMemoryEx Generation of mipmaps for compressed pixel formats is not implemented yet

I guess that a newer revision of DX9 introduced a functionality that is not supported yet by WINE directly. I'm on a less than useless mobile connection at the moment so I cannot grab the latest DX9 libraries and start experimenting but if it takes as less as telling WINE to use a native d3dx9 library I don't consider it a problem.

Any chance you can reupload E15 so we can verify that a native d3dx9 library is necessary only for E17 onwards?

I attached a screenshot to show what my LFS looks like now.

I have no problems after I switched to d3dx9 from Microsoft (installed it with winetricks).

With default wine 1.7.19 setup I had a problem (see screenshot)

And someone refered to installing some d3dx9_* DLL from microsoft and it helped!

I installed some of them (can't say which exactly did help) using winetricks script and it fixed the thing.
