According to this page we can guess that shader model 3 might not be supported fully in wine (as of 2013-06-02 atleast), so having backwards compatibility SM2 is a nice thing.
As far as I know it's intention is to set wheel straight when you join the track or reset the car and such... LFS doesn't support that so u should disable it.
When I open it I see empty fields... I guess it would be much more convenient if there was default settings mentioned, so I can set them there if I don't care, or a "don't care" answer
The profiler has 2 places where u can set things -- Global device settings and Specific profile settings (or something like that, u can easily find it in the menus). Try to set the same at both places. I remember I messed with this stuff. No need for $
Having ability to have race practice (and qualification) without sending setup-package to each other would be nice. I guess cars will look laggy, but it will solve the problem mostly.
I wonder if it was planned when current tyre model was developing: You can go 44 laps (more than 45 minutes race) on Slick R1. And this is true for many other tracks...
So the point is: it is hard to test those tyre dynamics properly (because you need lots of data), so why to bother making it perfect?
