All in all, I would welcome any automated enforcements of real world rules. The pit exit is one and a drive trough for passing under yellow is another. I guess I'd like the sim itself act as real time marshal and sort out the penalties there and then, so the league admin doesn't have to call for a judge and jury everytime someone has done anything wrong

Thanks for answering Cawwa and Scoop

I'm going to go with Cawwa on this one. Since he's from Sweden as I am, it'll feel good to defend the blue and yellow colors together.
But Scoop, if you really like to comepete in this event, there are a number of drivers over at SCORE still looking for a co-driver. Link in signature
SCORE - 3 hours of Westhill

I'm looking for a driver to help me complete the three hours of Westhill scheduled on SCORE in 14 days (Sunday, April 23:rd). You should be able to handle the XR-GTR fairly (that means keeping it on track), but you don't have to be blinding fast. Any takers? Please post reply in this thread.

Well there are at least one pit area not being used at Aston, so I bet there will be at least one more layout there in the future. And it has been suggested that Kyoto could have a really long layout if we could get the National and GP layouts combined into one.
I would like to see more tracks and and track locations in the future, but for me this is secondary. It's more important to get the cars physics and damage finished first.

But that's a prefect example actually
If I see the blue flag first time shortly before the righthander into the chicane at Blackwood, I keep my line trought the chicane and then go as fast as I can on the straight. Chances are that the lapping car behind me will use me to slipstream down the straight, and by going just a little wide in the right hand turn, I let the faster car by without losing so much as a second.
That's how it should be done, but sadly, there are much to many impatient fast guys and much to many nervous new guys on the same tracks.

This is taken from the SCORE GT-Challenge rules. It has proven to work out fairly well so far.

About general overtaking:
Quote :
§04 - Overtaking
§04A - Overtaking is the responsibility of the overtaking car. Pushing cars out of the way is not tolerated and if deemed deliberate, it will result in a lifetime ban from SCORE.
§04B - Overtaking during Yellow Flag is prohibited. If the Yellow Flag appears you must stay in line. Even if you're about to lap a slower opponent and even if you think it's safe to overtake.

About the blue flag:
Quote :
§07 - Blue flags
The blue flag must be respected. Failure to respect the blue flag will result in one warning and if repeated, a ban. The blue flag does not mean you have to come to a complete stop. You should however let a lapping car by at the first available spot. Generally this is done by going wide in a turn and leave room on the inside, or keeping to one side of the track at straight's.

IMO it doesn't have to be more complicated than that.

Besides this forum I run my own (pretty busy) forum for SCORE. I also visit the major Nascar Heat forums and of course read up on the sections that interest me on RSC and BHMS.

Quote from JJ72 :I don't think anyone still use HTML anymore???

I rather spend more time actually designing the webpage rather than writing line of codes, Learn dreamweaver and flash, then you can already make a pretty professional flash based website.

I use HTML and will do for a long time to come. I see little or no need for creating a lot of flashy looking stuff that visitors will look at once and then click past as soon as they get a chance.
Good looks doesn't mean it's better. It loads slower and not everyone are connected with 2Mbit or better. Quite a few are still on dial-up, and let's face it, they love plain HTML.

SCORE is not the best looking site on the net, but it's clean, fast and easy to navigate. And when you press a link, it loads the page in a blink even if you are on dial-up. It's all HTML and it's all made with CoffeeCup HTML editor, witch works for both newbies and advanced editors.

Get it at www.coffeecup.com and try it.

I would like an InSim application whitch has the all the features from AutoMessage combined with the some of the features from RaceManager like the Rolling Start and the Track Changer feature. I also could see a good use for the LFS Spotter included in this package.

You know, about doped contestors...
I used to play together (music) with a bodybuilder. Say what you want about them, but they do know a heck of a lot about the human body, food and dope
He told me that any sportsman or woman who knew what they where doing (and most do) could calculate on the hour when any illegal substances had left their body and how long after that the effect from them started to degrade.
I, for one, believe him. I think that most of those who get caught in doping tests have just miscalculated the time for the substances to disapear. I also believe that just about every world class athlete experiment with one substance or another to performe better. It's just a matter of not getting caught.

So don't yell to much on those who get caught, they just calculated wrong.

AI is important, no doubt. And the more real, the better. For instance, it would offer newbiew a great chance to practice offline (in traffic) before coming online and causing first turn mayhem and getting kicked and banned.

It would also offer those who are intimidated by online play a chance to fully enjoy LFS. Please keep in mind that not everyone likes to go online.

So... AI's are important and again, the more "real" they drive and behave, the bigger is the chance that all those offline players in the end start going online

Quote from 5th Earth :I wonder why he started so far back... he's obviously way faster than most of the other cars, both in terms of skill and in vehicle.

I think I remeber a post on a forum somewhere that he had an engine change and was forced to start last, behind the much slower "Sport" cars (three classes on track in DSC, GT, SuperSport and Sport).
That site is well worth a visit, and I can recommend the broadcast from Spa 2005. No less than 53 cars on grid, including a BMW M1

I've said this in another thread, and i'll say it again. The best solution for online gaming is the last free, clean version of Roger Wilco.
You got full controll over it, it doesn't take much bandwidth (made for 56k dial up connections) and it's small (only 355Kb). Ok, so the sound quality isn't the best, but hey... If you really want to simulate those "Pit to Car" conversations, this is the one to do it with

--- Edit ---
Roger Wilco is Available on SCORE, in the files/usefull section.

Quote from amalgyte :Do you think it would be possible to classify users by their experience by using their credits, total mileage and lap times for each course? This would mean that servers can then be pre-selective of what types of drivers they allow.

My best advice would be to join a series on SCORE. As the series move forward, drivers are "ranked" in a pretty unique way, totaly separated from the points table, and it allow each and every driver to track their progress and their average at the same time

Oh and a warm welcome to the wonderful world of LFS

Yes, road racing is definatly becoming more popular in America. 60% of the driver on SCORE (a European online racing site) is from USA or Canada. And SCORE is all about road racing.
I try my best to teach them about LFS
Congratulations Victor :)

Well if there is an interest I could set something up. Maybe a small series on the shorter tracks? Possibly something like two sprint races per session with reversed start order for second run? Tell me what you'd like and I'll try and whip something up. It has to be on tuesdays or thursdays tohugh, since SCORE server is engaged with other type or racing the other days.
Sadly, I guess that mean Europeans only due to time zones...
