See you aren't sure which is the problem, I am not around much anymore but I have been around plenty before this forum was together and I can tell you there are movies you wouldn't know that exist, if you were to make a list it would most likely only contain current ones.

There used to be an LFS Movies database a many years back, but then Youtube was released and the movie database was dropped with no one to take care of it, there are thousands of LFS videos, and I can promise you not all of them are made by users on the forum.

(btw a sticky is the threads with the thumbtacks on them at the tops of forum sub sections)

Now, if you would like to get a group of friends together etc. that have been around these parts long enough or have enough dedication and time, then go for it, but I am telling you right now making such a list is extremely daunting.

Quote from MadCat360 :I agree, Forza 2 drives very well, however, it is not simulated in the same way as LFS. In Forza 2 a car is just a box with a bunch of sliders for the developers to play around with. In LFS, the cars are constructed with suspension components. As a result, Forza 2 is an approximation of what is happening, wheras LFS is truly simulating things like wheels movement, damper movement and body roll. In layman's terms, in LFS you're seeing the simulation with your very eyes, in Forza it's just an effect. This is provable by adjusting the ride height in Forza - there is no change in the car's actual visual height, it's just a simulation parameter. In LFS, adjusting the ride height truly does raise the body, and doesn't just apply a behavior parameter. See what I'm saying?

Wrong, that is totally wrong, look it up like I said, forza 2 does realtime calculations it doesn't do presets like rFactor (if rFactor even does) Simbin did in GTR, but spreadsheets are history in coding in today's world because there is no reason for them, computers are fast enough today to do a calculation on the fly than it can be to load up a memory sector and read it in special cases.
LFS is as much as a spreadsheet reader as Forza 2 is.

@piggy501, I was looking up blueprints the other day but I couldn't really find any, actually I had absolutely no luck finding any really much of anything..

There is a stock overload of the newer mini body and I came across the new clubman, but there is only one blueprint of an older body style which was the Austin Mini, making it.. back in the 60s, sorry, I've looked everywhere I know of

It's a good idea logitekg25, however it is an astounding amount of work to put together such a list.

If anyone on the other hand is willing to take on such a task and do it in a nice orderly fashion, categorize it, date it, whatever, then we will be more than happy to sticky it,, but as you can see by everyone else that posted here it would take someone a lot of effort with zero gains.

It would also take someone here that has been around long enough and will stay around long enough to keep the list updated.

Quote from logitekg25 :forza is no where as good as lfs in every way...of course i should try playing forza before i judge

I'm sorry but that's wrong, the physics in Forza 2 are extremely accurate.

Forza 2 is by no means a dumbed down game at all in any way, it is a very nice simulation 'game'

In fact I will go as far to say it's as accurate as LFS is in it's faux world, Forza 2 is as real as it could be in real cars on real tracks (I say LFS in faux world because no tracks are real and only a few cars are real)

I had plenty of fun watching my friends that play arcade racing games and think they are good at 'driving' play forza 2 only to realize the brakes don't stop a car going 120 mph to drop down into 2nd gear to make it out of a hairpin turn within 100 ft like they're used to..

I promise you, Forza 2 is pretty freaking realistic, I can't wait for 3 to come out it looks awesome and after giving Forza 2 a try I'm tempted to buy a 360 JUST for the Forza series

Let the flame wars on me begin, but remember there is plenty of facts around showing how realistic Forza 2 is on just about every subject.

Trust me, I too was once a closed minded person that thought LFS was the best of the best, but Forza 2.. is just as good in my personal opinion.

Just remember that Forza 2 has some things that have to be unrealistic to capture plenty of buyers, and it did a good job at that to, LFS isn't the same, it has a very tight nit community (as stated above about LFS as a niche), Forza 2 goes for the general public, LFS is for what some would say 'the elite', but for bringing people into the world of racing simulations, I give it the Forza team because they are doing an excelent job.
LFS could easily be there to, but last time I checked 1 coder, 1 artist, and 1 web/specialist cannot beat a team over 100 men with plenty thousands of monies to spend on something.

Okay for those that wanted that porsche as a background here is the final render, a touch more noisy in post than I wanted but it isn't terrible.. No idea what the render time was, I just let it do it overnight, I assume it was somewhere around 6 - 8 hours

@crashgate, because it is a low poly model, do not be afraid of triangles, they are your best friend in low poly, it isn't like mesh smoothing where it makes divits, everthing in low poly is made out of a triangle except you don't control them unless you want to, the computer controls it otherwise.

There are lots of places you can get rid of those weird rectangles and replace them with triangles to get a smoother finish.

More renders, tried the TT in that previous scene, and brought up an older scene that never really got worked on, put some mats on it and put the speed 3 in it

I'm kinda upset about the people that think it's funny, if he wasn't around .. I mean the world would be different without him besides music he put a TON of money into lots of programs around the world, sure he spent a lot on him, but he gave away just about as much.

Besides that though I think I almost feel worse for Farah, she died too yesterday but it's almost like no one cared!

Wow.. okay first of all the CCX is a Koenigsegg which is Swedish, the Shelby he is probably referring to isn't a Shelby, it's a Saleen S7 twin turbo (I'm guessing)
By the way, an FXX makes 50 more horsepower (then again it is a V12), and also weighs a quarter ton less than the Saleen.
Oh one other thing, the FXX isn't a production car, only 20 were/will be made, and they aren't street legal either.

The CCXR is the fastest production (is it production?) street legal car being made, it has 1018 bhp, Veyron only has 1001, but the CCXR also weighs an astounding 1.5 tons LESS.. shows how much crap they have loaded into the Veyron..

All Shelby really makes these days are modified Mustangs for outrageous prices.

I think I would like to see the end of S2 first :/

Since we are all in agreement here.. why not just settle for a "supercar" period?

Better yet, how 'bout that Scirocco!

Made a new scene!

Same concept as last one except... this one.. doesn't have any lights?

Yep, it's all done by reflection there is no GI, and no omnis, no vray lights, no spotlights, just done the right way, with big planes that have circular gradients of white on them.

Out of all of these the one from the front still looks the best

It's a touch dark but that can be fixed easily.

I see what happened, there are actually a LOT of things missing from that model because I didn't import the actual model, I just imported like.. almost half of it lol... oops!

Dunno I'll have to look it up, i'll send you a PM in the next few days if I come up with anything!

My dad thought it would be cool if I turned the headlights on.. so we messed around with volumetric lights (the foggyness) everything is rendered minus the stars that I put over the headlights in photoshop

New wallpaper!

And someone at another forum realized there are no side mirrors.. I.. never noticed lol! I will have to fix that

Ah sorry about that, here is a fixed version of the last one (fixed glass material, put the rear windshield in oops! and mirrored the fog light)

I know I worked the heck out of those and the model looks really smooth but in rendering they just don't

Anyways I worked on them a bit more and made another scene... anndd.. it's awesome..

It doesn't look like much with the S2000, but I decided to take the scene on a run for its money on a .. little more serious model of mine

The real test... (real res. is 1440x900)

Kinda like it in red? Looks saucy

Fixed some of the messy areas near the front side vents and near the headlights... apparently have more work on the headlight area, and gotta fix that strange looking reflections on the fenders

Working on an old model I never did anything beyond the hood a few years back.

This time I'm going to do something.. not normal, going low/mid poly with this, no mesh smoothing of any kind.

Also working on what really has needed to be worked on.. lighting, the hardest thing when it comes to 3d is real lighting, modeling is the simple stuff..
But no matter how great a model is, it can always look terrible under the lights

Oh and I figured out why I was getting those blocks on the 412p (330 P4), it was because vray was in bucket mode.

^ same scene as the BMW Z4 model, except the white plate had been moved around and just got lucky it reflected like that

^new light setup, no reflection plate, just soft lights above on a dome, almost makes the car look plasticky, should try a more silvery paint instead of that white

As you can see my low poly modeling.. isn't all to great, which is why i'm doing this, so I can get better!

Quote from baSh0r :wow XCNuse deep respect there. I know how hard it is to model a car (I made my experiences on a Audi S5 and failed terribly)

Great Job!!!

Great until my father came up and asked me when the last Le Mans Grand Prix ever was lol, to late now!

Plus I like the words Grand Prix, they're cool

Guess I coulda put 24 Heures like the french.. du mans!

Or I coulda just put the 24 hours of lemons <- funny stuff

Well I did another one that .. it was smooth, but it had even stranger issues, it started doing blocks..
http://i15.photobucket.com/alb ... 0P4/42-2.jpg?t=1245212933

It too has a fair amount of noise, anyways I took advantage and didn't feel like letting my laptop run overnight again so instead I finally closed out of 3dsmax finally, and opened up photoshop and just made a quick little wallpaper .. kinda?

Unfortunately I didn't realize this until the last render I was about to start that would've taken probably 20 hours to complete.. is when I noticed the goodyear logo on the tires were backwards so I fixed that for later lol oops!

Old model.. new renders
I tell you what, I opened this up and did some early renders of it and I was wondering why some reflections looked so weird, looked at the mesh.. wtf was I thinking?? that is the WORST .. whatever, anyways lol the wireframe on this car is terrible, but from a distance it is.. okay

Sorry the second one is so noisy, I had one rendering like that which rendered from midnight last night till like 4 today.. yea.. I know.. anyways, it got to starting to render time and it freaking crashed so.. I'm working on a cleaned up one which is going by much faster (no idea what I tweaked to make it go so slow), but this one is very clean and has almost no noise and is sharp, it looks good

Anyways.. shedding new light (literally) on an old subject! as the saying goes

I know its because I never finish the models
I do have a render, one that's ready to go but another one that's been going on for .. over 12 hours now, I changed something and it's taking forever, but its.. great renders of an old model

I agree with you 100% though it always does ruin them unfortunately (don't worry, the speed3 that's what I'm working on next though is getting those lines in so.. I usually wait till starting the interior which I just did yesterday, so those door seams etc. will get filled in properly)

I'm not back for good per say, I'm just around ... you could say I guess, as for moderating, I mean I just am one I guess they could release my status as one, but I'm not acting as one since I'm never around anymore etc.

I just don't have the time anymore like I did back in highschool :/
