Quote from Bob Smith :Yes, we've had a few of moderators become inactive, although most still have their priveledges here.

ahem.... shhhhhhh! :slap:

as for that Atom V8, I think it's safe to say that is no racing vehicle at all.. that thing is going to be a murderer, the stats on it are freaking insane.

Greased up all my black plastic today so it's all nice and shiny and.. imo looks 100% better, to bad it won't stay shiny, but I lowered my windshield wipers today! Those also look 100% better! Now I just need to go get some wipers, hopefully some of those metalless ones without those frames, those are nice! But.. expensive.

Might wash and wax my car today, also might claybar it too if I decide to clean it.

I guess a cheapo way to do this would in 3ds max there is a 'noise' tool, just select all of the track inwards of the edge and use the noise tool and it will put bumps here and there, unfortunately it will do it.... everywhere.

As far as a 'bump map' goes, those are only for lighting, they remain flat, it is just how the light reflects off in game, the mesh doesn't change.

Quote from S3ANPukekoh3 :I can drift an lx4... does that mean I'll be able to drift a Bf1?? LOL

If you remember what it was like trying to learn how to drift an LX ... take that and multiply it by about 1000, that's how hard it is to drift a BF1 and not spin it out lol

No, 15.4s should do what my 17" is, 1440x900.
Depends when you got it at least, but even now 1440x900 is being ruled out and they're shoving like 1920x something in the 15.4s and 17s

lol I was afraid someone would ask for that, that is such an extreme crop;

here it is though, along with a larger image of those 3 cars together:

close up of the three in turn:
http://i15.photobucket.com/alb ... ad%20Atlanta/_MG_0453.jpg

If its just the Renault you like, I got a closer shot of it with my camera:

unfortunately .. web colors.. ruin all the color of the image, sorry!

Quote from evilpimp :I don't think its THAT much work, but I'm a noob so correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think he needs to remake the tracks, just add some random bumps here and there... Isn't there any easy way to just pull the ground up and make up quick bumps (Sims style ) ?

Yes but knowing Eric if he's going to do something.. he is going to do it the right way, not ghetto rigged just so it's.. similar to how it works.

But either way, that is a ton of work, you think pulling up a few points will make a difference.. try a few hundred thousand points at random. On every track, that is a TON of work.

Except it can't be at random.. like I said, Eric is going to do it right, so he would do it where there normally would be bumps.

How to make smoke?

Look at thousands of photos of burnouts from cars, and spend hours upon hours and use every brush you can possibly use, I used to be good at smoke but.. then I stopped doing it.

Quote from logitekg25 :we r not all as skilled in the drifting world as you
that would be impossible to control.

Uhh.. well seeing they are wide slick tires, you just have to know how to control the vehicle, sure a setup may help slightly, but it's still going to take far more practice than a 'drift' set can help.

Formula 1s have such long and thin bodies (like the LX class) they're very hard and snap easily when you lose grip, that is just the nature of longer bodies. You just have to learn how to control and understand it, and be predictable.

That is a LOOOOT of work, but imo it needs to be done.

All tracks should be as bump some of the worst places of SO, that's why I like South City because it has a more realistic feel, it's more organic feeling, sometimes its actually to smooth, I know the really short SO track gets really bump in the XFGTR and it gets to be lots of fun!

oh I should mention all shots were either taken with this equipment:
Nikon D40 w/ 55-200mm 4-5.6 VR (other lens used but not shown was Sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6)
Canon 40D w/ 100-400mm 4-5.6 IS

edit- just a heads up, I just added 27 more shots

I don't think the rallypack was actually 'canned', or at least by no means like the LX8 was, the LX8 was actually made, worked etc. It was just canned because of its extremities.

Rallypack Scavier stated would be made if they had time etc. (I believe), if not it was something along those lines, Scawen (or was it Victor?) kinda hinted at one, but nothing was official about actually making one 100%, they just made it sound like a little fun side thing they could've done just to keep stuff moving along.

Change of pace is always nice, hence why I never really finish many 3d models just because after a while it's the same tedius work over and over again.

I say we leave the LX8 canned, and replace it with a late 60s F1 with front and rear wings

Yea one guy that owns a Panoz V8 payed me a little bit for some shots of his car, was pretty cool though. (I have one shot in here of it, white panoz car with maroon top)

Here are the .. 'finished' shots you could say, these are just the shots I put up on Facebook (which is why they're all small shots) but.. you get the idea of the event!

I want to go and be able to take shots at a rally track.. it's not even close to doing it like on the track, you can't get anywhere near the cars when they're racing over, even if you are a professional and can get on the track.. the most they allow you is behind a tire wall just on the inside of the first out of two fences..

Shots from Road Atlanta will be up later either today or this weekend, got 6GB of shots to roll through so...

Check this out though, while I was there someone 'hired' me to take shots of their car that was pretty eventful.
