WHen I drove on it wow, the scenery and elevation changes, the monster backstrait with slower sections of the track make it a great track. Then that last bridge... made my skin tingle heading up to that corner at 90MPH, full throttle waiting for the dip on the far side of the corner and hoping that you put the right amount of steering in to prevent an off on the backside, which cannot be seen =)
We cannot change how the connection list shows up with everyone display name and username. I do believe there is a button located in the UI about being able to make the CTRA userlist be shown with real names only. So we have done everything we can to get rid of online handles for the server aswell.
For those people that are afraid of having their name on the net you do have a choice and you don't have to put your name in and the only thing that affected is the ability to show up on the ranking list which seems fair considering you don't want your name on the net.
You don't even have to use your real name, just a real 'appearing' name. Handles will not be used as a form of identy on the CTRA rankings now or in the near future.
My LFS account name is Viper93 but if you have ever raced me in the last year the only name I go by is my real name, this includes the CTRA and STCC.
It's not a dictatorship, if it was we wouldn't have listened the first time. This has been thought of between the admins and discussed when we first brought the system online and we are not going to change it now because people want to use their online nicknames, which sometimes tend to get very rude.
Sure I shouted, but who wouldn't after their face started turning blue because people are not listening to the first couple responses saying that it's not changable. What else can we do when all other messages saying that this isn't changing are not sinking in? What else can we do when we get a small amount of people saying to change it.
besides it's not manditory, you don't have to put your name in, I don't see the big deal. Just let your online friends know your real name (if they really were your friends wouldn't you have already told them?) and then they can see where you are in the system.
I don't know why all of the sudden this came up, real names have been in use since the beginning of the X-System.
First your referring to UKCT which in itself is not CTRA. CTRA is made up of people outside of UKCT and UKCT should not be linked to CTRA in this manner.
That would be like saying to any other team that helps with CTRA that they cannot put weird names on their website because they are part of the CTRA.
We are not requiring people to use real names if they don't want to, but if they don'tuse real assuming names they will be removed and while you will retain all points and standings you will not be recorded on the rankings until there is an acceptable name on the list.
End of story, this is not open for debate and has been like this since the beginning of the X-system.
If you don't like that you have to use a real name to show up in the rankings then find something else to do, tough =P Just to be clear that everything in the X-system will still work for these drivers but they simply and ONLY will not be shown on the rankings list.
We are trying to provide a professional appearing service for everyone and part of that appearance is to get rid of the wacky usernames like RiCeZ0Rs which reeks of childhood antics and pimply teenagers sitting in a dark room during all hours of the day which is not what we are about.
I would but already I am looking at a hefty sum just to get up there and back =) 25mpg does have it's drawbacks... but it's worth it when you can hit 60 as fast as a BoxterS =)
Depends on the situation and the events leading up to the person sitting in the sand trap. If there was no foul play and it could be caulked up to a driver error then it's only going to be a polite warning to any offending drivers that they need to be more careful in the future... and that we ARE watching making sure everyone is being good little boys and girls and don't throw their toys out of the pram =)
The reporting procedure is there for these incidents so people can see that hitting someone, even accidentally, is not acceptable and they need to be more cautious.
But, because of the nature of racing you are going to get accidents like these and we understand that, hence only a warning and nothing more severe =)
Above all every incident is unique and none are alike so what I am saying is only a rough guide and each incident has to be looked at individually.
There is no 'one solution' for these types of problems. Each incident has different circumstances and each is many interactions and conditions which makes making 'blanket' rules difficult to put down on paper.
In general I think it's a good idea to think and act with this in mind
"Treat People As You Wish To Be Treated"
If you intentionally hit someone off you don't HAVE to stop and personally I don't unless I had made a really huge mistake that someone at my ability shouldn't make. But it's a nice thing to do and people will enjoy your company more online if they know that if they are wronged in any way you will have done and will do anything in your power to make it right.
I am not specifically trying to attack you. I was trying to let you know that when dealing with people, especially people that have what you want you need to be saying...
"What can I do for you!"
Instead of...
"Can you adjust the schedule because it's hard for me"
The first time was fair enough, but when you asked the second time... do you honestly think that your so good that he would adjust the schedule for you?
You have great talent to go fast in a computer game, I hope, for your sake, that you realize to compete in the real world you are going to need more than just talent to succeed. One of those is a personality that people can work with, and WANT to work with. Nobody is going to want to deal with a person that keeps asking for demands, You need to be saying like I said before, "what can I do for this person to make their task easier" People will not only like that mentality, they will enjoy being around you because they feel that you want to help them. Nobody wants to help someone who say's "gimmy gimmy gimmy, I know I am good so give me what I want"
Think of it through Jay's eyes, would he want to work with a kid that keeps saying "yeah this sounds great! BUT can you change this for me?" The first time maybe, but when you start asking multiple times your seriously going to piss someone off, and that person is going to be holding the key to that car, thats what I was trying to get at.
This is not specifically a personal attack, it's more that the level of frustration I have is so high, seeing someone that has a real chance, saying stupid questions like you just did multiple times. He gave you guys a timeline, just because it's not easy for you doesn't mean squat.
I am 25, too old for this scholarship, and getting to the point that I couldn't get enough experience to run in top level competition and be effective. I am trying to get you to realize a key point that I hope will help you realize your dream, knowing that I cannot as a driver anymore.
Mods please feel free to delete this if it's too aggressive, no harm meant. Starting to reread what I wrote I almost hope they do, almost =)
Jay is nicely trying to say that you need to work to his schedule or else he will pick someone else. There are plenty of people on this forum that could make it and he doesn't NEED the top 3 drivers to have good data to work with, he simply needs 3 competent drivers that will be available during his shedule, which is presumably tight. If you can't work to his schedule go find something else to do, there are plenty of people that are more than willing to meet the scheduling time line and frankly I wouldn't think your exactly that special or unique that Jay would adjust HIS scheduling to meet a kids timeline because the kid can't work out how to get someplace at a certain time.
This is all guesswork and I could be totally off base, but I don't think I am that far off.
To put it as bluntly as I can, either you meet Jay's timeline and be you are able to run in the simulator, or you don't meet the timeline and someone else will happily take that free spot.
Glad it's going well Becky, well as well it can go anyways
I hope you don't think I have been ignoring you. I am still concerned and want to know whats going on, just wanted to give you some space after the split up between you and Sam.
The last one was never a problem was fun to meet everyone in person =)
I don't see the big deal, fair enough if you guys are making judgements on people because you have already seen them face to face but how can you like/dislike someone so much from reading a bit of words on a forum? They may well be totally different than what their writing reveals here on the forum.
On a lighter side cmon people you know 'thisnameistaken' has a light sense of humour and his meanings should be taken lightly =) It'll be a fun day out if you want it to be.
I don't know what people feel about me but Dan I was hoping you would be going, your one of the more vocal people on the forum here and I was hoping to put a face to that name, ahhwell.
I will be going. I live near Oxford and willing to convoy up there. I am also willing to bring up to 4 passengers. It is a long ways off yet, hopefully I will do a mini get together for the Oxford area sometime sooner, nothing big, more like I am going on this date, meet me there if you want to gokart ad daytona type deal.
I have never noticed a problem either. On some tracks the XFG is a tinie tiny bit faster, than on others the XRG is faster. They both have different characteristics and they are never going to be exactly the same as each other in time for each track. They are not that far apart though and any competitent XRG driver can run in the front.
This is the same for the TBO's, it's slightly more noticable now but they are not that dissimilar and are pretty close once you start running with the front runners.
This is coming from my experience running the RB4 in the STCC.
