Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :The CTRA receives more traffic, so you're bound to get "more" beginners purely by statistics. I think Becky that you're taking this too personally/seriously TBH, it was a rash complaint about incidents that happen everywhere, not JUST the CTRA. I realize it read that way, but read between the lines... It is looked upon as the "beginner" CTRA server... because it IS, even though everyone is welcome.

I agree =)

Race 1 is a beginner server. True There are issues present, but it's not the the servers fault and there are systems in place to help these drivers learn a bit about racecraft. There is more that can be done though, but not from Becky's end, she has provided us with an awesome licensing package with great racing to be had, on any server. I have never had too much of a problem on Race1 myself.

Quote from obsolum :That's probably because the racing there is very different from the racing up front. I've experienced that myself a few times.

It is different in the midfield, it's not down to the servers, it's down to the drivers. I have heard these discussions on the CTRA subforum for weeks now. No system in the world will help drivers if they do not want to learn.

Problem is then it becomes a private club server where only the people registered can race, which defeats the whole purpose.

If you want a server like that there are hundreds already available, virtually all of them empty =)

It's a good idea, but not the direction intended.

Thats what I do aswell. I also don't make aggressive moves and wait for corner exits to pass. Passing on entry with a newish driver is extremely risky, chances are they will not see you. If there is a newer driver behind me I do brake a bit earlier and prepare myself for them missing the brake point so I don't get tangled up.

Some people may say that you shouldn't have to drive like this, but if you want to finish the race you don't have much of a choice with these new drivers. Mistakes are going to happen.

I think training is the next step for finding a solution. Hopefully I can get my computer connected to the internet. Having issues with the networking drivers now...grr. Never had this problem before.

Using deductive reasoning you can figure out how it works through the multiple posts we have already posted on this subject. Everything thats used to calculate the points in on here somewhere in this subforum and there is no real reason to have the exact calculation. I don't even know it =P

CHances are you earned less points because there were not as many people racing as the previous races.

Why do people even want to know? Just race, you race well and finish well your license will progress, that's all you need to know

ajp71 Mentioned what part of the issue is. The drivers racing the first tier are newish drivers new to racing in this type of environment. Before there was plenty of 'older' LFSers who on the whole have done a few leagues at least and already have the basic knowledge to avoid potential accident situations which these new drivers currently lack.

There is another semi solution besides the reporting system, which IMO is the best way to combat these issues. Hopefully I can get my arse in gear and get something done to show what I mean =)

Quote from Becky Rose :Only after somebody said it was a render did I see that it doesnt 'quite' move in sync with the video. It is superbly done .

It is, but the colors are a touch bit rich compaired to the surrounds, thats what gave it away for me =)

Very nice! I wonder if Viktor could get a limited edition release if they could actually get that car made as a diecast =)

Quote from Becky Rose :
...which in our experience and because of the lack of an instant replay feature this often results in the admin not seeing the incidents that matter anyway.

Between us we spend anything up to 2 hours a day adminning the servers. So you do have an active admin, we just choose to admin in a more time effective manner than sitting and watching - waiting for an accident to occur.

I have done some live administering here and there. I do the same thing as anyone else does. File a report after the race has been completed. There are little things that people do that are not really reportable but still could use some action and I do remind them, but on the whole it's not really that different than having me going through the report queue. And TBH you miss 75% of the things that happen anyways when trying to admin live.

The big thing we are asking for and you drivers actively participating here is that you/we are wanting to create professional driving atmospheres while dealing with people that just don't see the specifics of what happens on a racetrack. You can tell them and get them to agree to things until you are blue in the face, but you cannot get them to understand what your asking for until they get it for themselves. I am trying to work a better way to showcase these issues but my computer is not cooperating...

Project is delayed until I can get another Raid stripe built. While I am getting a new mobo I decided to upgrade. Hopefully I can be running on my new computer here within a month or so.

Sounds like most of your setups are very old then. Did you try making a new set from the default setup you know works?

Yeah no doors =P If you see one of these cars in RL they are nothing like a real car on the road.

I was wondering when he was going to make another go. I watched both him and Kenseth at MIS in Wisconsin before they went big. Both very good drivers. Kenseth has the edge on him though and Kvapil would stuggle against him. Could have been down to the car though too.

You increase the chance of an accident when you increase the number of players racing.

Take the average accident rate on CTRA, 28%. put two average drivers on the track and there could be 6 laps with an incident in a ten lap race, giving way to 4 laps that are clear of issues. Add another driver the chance of an accident goes from 6 laps to 9 leaving 1 lap free. Add yet another driver you will have an accident every lap plus 2 laps having 2 incidents.

This 28% means that for every driver 3 out of ten laps will have an accident. So if you add 30 people in a 10 lap race you are going to have 90 incidents occuring during that session on average. Whereas if there are only 3 people there is only going to be 9. This is why we cannot add more drivers to the server, it compounds the problem.

This still doesn't solve the problem of having too many n00bs on the track and especally on the weekends it would make it worse

Quote from Becky Rose :S1 does allow 32 cars to start. We just are not stupid enough to enable 32 car grids on our entry level server. No offence, but you guys still crash on 28% of the laps you try to complete, putting 32 cars and more tracks to learn isn't going to help that any.

Show me you can drive, proove me wrong, and i'll consider some other way of supporting S1 users and switching Race 1 to S2.

If it was up to me I would make it 10 cars, max :biggun:

Seriously, out of every ten laps that an average racer does while on the CTRA servers they will crash on 3 of those laps. Put Just 3 people on the server and you could theoretically have someone crash almost every lap of the race, I think the last thing people need is more people to bump into on race 1 =P

Becky and I are on the same boat on this one. Because it would never get the required majority vote(although Becky does hold veto power) shortening the distance will not happen for rallyX

I will say this. You and only you are in control of how much damage and at what pace you run at. If you are trying to put in blistering laps you will get damage, it's the nature of rally. Slow the pace down and work on putting consistent laps in, thats what racing is about, not hotlapping. If you want to run flat out do it offline in single player. =)

Multiplayer is meant for racing, and keeping your car intact is one important aspect of racing.

STCC did a 25 (ended up being over 30)minute race or so at one of the RallyX's for round 11(cannot remember off the top of my head) Sure it was only 18 laps, but the amount of time spent on the track is alot more than a little 15 minute race and almost everyone finished the race. The front runners finished the race with only their ride height being damaged. You can set a fast pace(in this case low 1:13's) and still come home clean if you learn where you can push it and where you have to be cautious. This is one of many skills a competent driver must have.

Quote from Becky Rose :OK then, lets migrate CTRA to Smurf Racing on the Playstation so we can support more driver and car models...

Quote from Nobo :But...if the races are longer, you have the time to fight yourself back after T1 mayhem and can overtake all the impatient people

Better yet if they are that much of a problem start the race from the rear by specatating before the the end of the last race and join while the grid is forming.

There are other ways (IE letting the field by on a start) but it's not reccommended.

Hehe, no it's not =)

I could easily put my car into the 11's. Just add the S3 kit and a few other little HP goodies(total cost £2500) bringing the car around 350-400BHP and slap on a set of slicks. Guys running the S2 kit are running 12's with slicks, total cost of that is about £1000 plus the cost of slicks.

There is a big difference, but it's easily gapped

You still wanting to do some tracktime Chris? How do your brakes hold up?

It's not the idea of people being used to it or not, it's just that there isn't enough people to put on that many servers and still have great racing.

Makes perfect sense to me. The teams running in Nextel will have literally hundereds of cars to get rid of, instead of pumping them into the local short-track scene they are being put to good use with different body shells on them. They will remain the same cars, but different bodywork. Making the Bush series a very cheapish division to run in, until the cars run out that is.

There isn't much of a difference now between the car makes. the bodies are nothing like their real life counterparts. Running a different skin is not going to change that =P They all produce about the same hp and torque. There are subtle differences in the areo, but cup cars now are nothing like they are in their every day counterparts. It's all about marketing now more than anything. Sure it says Dodge, or Chevy on it, but you could take an RX7, put a few pieces of bodykit on it and call it a Viper. Anyways this is going OT =P It's a good move to bring the cup cars to bush, but the problem will now be making them slower than the COT cars, least IMO they should be. Chances are they would put restrictors on them to limit them to something like 600 HP or so.

I would love to see a CTRA RallyX server.

Here is the problem we are having. There just isn't enough people to get the servers to a comfortable user level for good racing. We could open up every type of server in the world, but if they don't have at least 4-5 drivers in them people will just go to their most favorite car/track combo and have some fun on there instead.

What I am trying to say is that everyone that races CTRA should tell their friends so we can get these servers filled so we can release more and different server combos =) We can only provide more servers if there are more people to fill these servers, otherwise there is no point, or in CTRA's case no points

Your best bet The Very End is to post on this thread http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=30826 and state your proposal about changing the laps.
