You did not understand what I said. Also some people are not getting the idea.
You just said this weeks theme is HDR and posted some rubbish examples. There was never an "official" explaination of what you mean by that theme, thinking the pics explained it.
I'm just saying make yourself clear, describe what HDR is etc. just so that other people know what it's about. Otherwise I'd accuse you of letting others run against a wall just to make you win again. It seems to me much that way.
By the way is there a program or plugin that is able to imitate the HDR effect working with only one photograph? I'm asking because I can't be helped but think the examples skiper provided look very much fake.
As has been mentioned, HDR adjusts contrast by putting together a little series of images with different light exposures.
In LFS there is no such thing as light exposure, the contrast is always the same and is best everywhere from every angle.
I'm saying Photomode competition - as the name already tells you - aims at replicating effects that occur when taking images in reality to achieve a realistic look of an unreal picture.
HDR aims to erade such an effect resulting in a real picture even looking unrealistic sometimes. Both together are a bit contrary, don't you think?
It's not that hard to understand as he wrote it all down himself. He does not care about which colour or what sponsors will be put on the skin he just wants to have something (but with colours/decals on it).
If you are creative and feel like helping him then go ahead and do it otherwise don't.
The texture looks right now but the shadow is still looking bad, much too steep for that angle if you ask me. Also try turning your background counter clockwise, as it doesn't fit now.
First you could sort out the blur issues around the car. There is a way and it's not even complicated or time consuming. Also a bit of the guard rail is not blurred behind the car.
Maybe you want to add the signs and a bit of other stuff next to the track. Your image overall looks a bit empty.
One last thing. :] I would have positioned the center of blur for the asphalt closer to the left end of your picture.
The outer border of the car is blurred too, you may want to fix that. Also with the sun setting/rising there is very few contrast within the landscape because almost no light reaches it. Thus the shadow under the car is too dark and the overall contrast apart from the background is too high.
The same problem here: too much contrast/too bright and especially the shadow directly under the car don't fit the scene. Imagine the way light goes on your picture.
Also the lights look too simple and the grass in the foreground looks blurred too much compared to the rest apart from your background.
Last thing is there seem to be no windows installed. :/
Good overall lightning and impression but look at the car only. If the camera were an inch below you could see it from beneath. Seeing that you will realise your asphalt texture is looked at in a much too steep angle.
You got it right. I screened it and pasted it into your shot. I attached the image to my entry post.
Don't know what you mean by "mind ****", I just replaced the original sky with the sun set. I had to resize it but it is not of low quality. I blurred it like I blurred everything else around and the noise is also done manually.
To understand how to edit a picture you have to understand how things work in nature - physics wise. This of course is because everything you want to do is to fix a screenshot to look like a real image taken by a camera. In some years when every racing game looks like NFS Shift or better, we will have not much to do in that aspect just like painters had not much to do first when cameras spread. Until that you may want to achieve a realistic look.
Doing that there are basically two things to do.
1. Compare both the screenshot and the same situation imagined in reality. Try to guess what would be different and look at photos with similar scenery.
2. To make a .jpeg of your imagination you will need many skills in picture editing. Learn by doing, watch tutorials if you are stuck or ask here on the forums.
I understand you want to use many effects on your picture but you will understand hopefully that won't work out really. That means for your picture:
The sun and light effects are needless. I guess your eyes don't hurt if you look at headlights/foglights directly on a clear bright day. You will easily figure out that these and the sun should not look equally bright.
Also concerning the headlights: These spotlights don't fit because they look as if they belonged to a round headlamp whereas the XFG headlights have a very square/rectangle form.
Don't try to imitate HDR lightning because in almost all cases it will be overused making it look like a blurry dream.
Comparing with real camera shots you will notice your overall picture is too light and thus also lacks contrast.
As has been pointed out that black blurry frame around the picture looks weird because it does not replicate any real effect of photographing.
