Quote from profike :Where can i find someone that knows how to make a cruise insim ?

Try under a rock, behind a tree, the neighbour, etc, etc... So many possibilities.

Or simply learn the basics of C#(as that's what most of the cruise insim app. developers use), and download one of the free source (cruise) insim/outsim/whateversim bases. Or just look for threads with the name "Can someone code me an insim" or "Where can I find an insim coder", etc... I'm sure there is one of those on the next page in this section. Or maybe even on this one.

So, have you checked?
I'm pretty sure that the LFS Hosts list can answer your question.

Yeah, some of the pedestrians are like brainless zombies too. Some others are just too distracted(you know that type of people, I guess). But yet, they are not such a big problem, as the complete idiots behind the wheels. I just can't understand that... How late could you possibly be? And my case today was even weirder than normal. A few meters after the walkway there was a traffic light, and it was red. And the timing on that cross there is just awful. The side I was coming from had 70+ seconds constant red light. And there were like 50 or 60 remaining when I stopped. The only explanation would be that the other guy just did not want to stop. He can't be changing his CD or anything, because he was coming too fast as for a cd change, or anything connected to getting eyes off the road. I just don't get the point of this. And if I write his car number down and go report at the police, they aren't gonna do anything.

The best I can do is have a guy with a camera next to me filming, and then I would have to send it to some tv show, or else the authorities won't do shit about it.

Leave that aside - I was with 3 of my school mates today in the car, and I had to risk getting hit to let the lady pass safely. At least after I explained why I did this weird maneuver they understood, and even supported my decision. But it's still soooooo confusing and annoying. I mean, I felt completely mad, and wanted to go there and just smack the guy's head into his dashboard, in front of that pretty lady he was with by the way.

[E] Much crossings have been replaced with traffic lights here too, but here comes the other problem: You are a pedestrian; you see the green light; you start walking; you are in the middle of the way. And there is the driver coming, seeing the straight road and the red light, thinking "Why the hell would I be stopping here?". Then he just slows down a little to ensure no cops are there and floors it right after, causing you to run to the sidewalk, unless you wanna get hit. Not that regular occasion in my country really, but I've seen it happen(at least the people that were crossing were never in a situation in which they would have had to run to the sidewalk... as much as I've seen).

Walkways(does this happen in your country?)

Ok, I have a driving license for like an year now, and people in my country(and especially my city) almost never stop on walkways. And this has affected me too.. I mean, in a bad way. I just didn't care about the people that want to cross at first. But then after a few times, that I got annoyed from waiting to cross(of course in front of a walkway), I started thinking that I'm the same behind the wheel. And my first question is: Is it like this in your country? Or do people regularly stop in walkways?

And the 2nd MOST annoying thing in my life as a driver: I stopped in front of a walkway, because there was a mother with a baby crossing (on a 2 lane road). And there was this COMPLETE(and I mean COMPLETE) idiot, who passed me on the left lane, making the mother run back on the sidewalk, which totally pissed me off. And now, today(a few hours ago that is) there was almost the same situation: A few people and a mother with a baby waiting to cross. And I've learned that pedestrians in my country are never sure that you will stop if you start slowing down, so you have to start slowing down earlier and stop a little earlier too(so that the people can be calm). And today this is exactly what I did, but this time I was constantly watching my mirrors, which helped me a lot, because some idiot in a red golf 2(iirc) was coming wayyy too fast... Which pissed me off and I turned left, floored it a little and stopped diagonally, to block all the cars, which of course MADE him stop and let the mother with the baby finally cross(cause she ran back on the sidewalk when she saw him). So, I'm just speechless... There's a mother with a baby, and you're gonna make her RUN back WITH her baby on the sidewalk?! I still don't understand it.

So, has this ever happened in your country? Do you have to stop in the middle of the road when you want to stop and free up the walkway? Have you ever had to block other cars so they don't pass on some of the other lanes and cause the people running back to the sidewalk? I am still really pissed off, and I just don't know how is this even possible. I'm not the best driver or anything(and who knows me knows that I do stupid stuff from time to time), but this is just too much... TOO ****ing much...

And don't get me wrong. It's not just 1 or 2 times. This is a regular thing in my country(except some cities, where people obviously have brains). But still, my city is the 2nd biggest city in my country, and according to the statistics the best(yeah, right) city to live in the country. And that kind of behavior on the road is imo just unacceptable. And the people that do those stuff are supposed to be more mature than me... Since I guess they have their licenses for longer, have more experience, etc, etc...

I'm just totally disappointed that I have to take so drastic measures to give the people the right, that is actually theirs.

Shame on you misiek08, Dygear and morpha.. You are all supposed to be good programmers and couldn't decode his original question in the 1st place. It clearly says "Please. I can't code at all. But anyway, find a way to teach me how to do this.".

And after the 1st "what???????" you should have understood that he 1st: doesn't even know what insim.txt is(or has never opened it for more than 10 seconds, because it's not in english ); and 2: has no idea what packets are(and, yes, that does mean that he doesn't know how the internet functions :razz.

So, shame on you!!!!!!

Quote from Fire_optikz001 :u can do that?

I don't think it's possible, since it's not really specified in the rules that you can't name your server in a specific way. Anyway, I guess that the name you made for your own server is protected by copyright law. I'm not really into laws and stuff, but if you wan't to sue them it's gonna be awfully difficult to prove that you came up with that name first anyway. So as for now, I guess you just have to wait for the other server owner to get bored of this nonsense and stop hosting.

I'm not very good at decoding messages, but as far as I understood there has been a user in the server, who has had 6 instances of LFS running, and all of them have been connected to that same server, which means that he can 'voteban' 6 times.

Anyway, lfsforum is not really the place for such complaints. Just contact the server administrators, cause nobody is able to help you here.

Quote from PoVo :Ah, good Traffic isn't the problem. I was thinking that if it takes 5 seconds to load players stats, when he connects, it might cause something bad

Anyways. Thanks again!

Definitely not. I'm using the same method for the -OsR- InSim app. and it does not cause any problems. This is 100% copied from it, and just modified to suit the needs of a cruise insim application.

The only thing that is slow in the SQL part is in the -OsR-'s app. and that is the !pos command, but tbh, I don't even know what does it exactly do yet anyway. And I think that it's not the application, but the server that is responsible for the delay. Plus, I doubt that such command will ever be needed in a cruise server.

This has also been using as the SQL base for the -OsC- insim app, which should tell you how comfortable I am feeling with it.

All I understood from this thread is that some guy John needs to find a job and stop playing LFS all day long.

Other than that: Since I played dirt 2 a few times at a friend's place(I can't run it in my 10yo PC, obv xD) and some LFS after... There is difference. Dirt 2 looked good on a fkin 42'' TV, and LFS looks (sorry but it does :P) crap on a 19'' monitor. I see LFS as a cool game only after I've been watching Simpsons for example. I don't know if Dirt 2 is classified as a simulator, but imo it beats the hell outta LFS. And, yeah, even tho I'm posting such a negative comment about LFS, it's still the most played game on my PC and my laptop.

Just for the record: I am driving with mouse and it's better than getting my wheel, opening it to fix it up, so it lasts for another 2 hours, plug it in, and have worse experience than with the mouse. The only advantage is that I can accelerate/decelerate more smoothly, which is a bit of a problem some times with the mouse, but if you get used to it it even becomes part of the fun.

Quote from SmegFirk :I understand now I think, we are almost talking about the same thing but coming at it from different sides. You would like to retain every single setup for a certain car but you somehow have the setups for the current track you are connected to highlighted in some way whereas I was taking away all the other setups that didn't match the track.

Exactly. But well, your idea could be extended to make it better too. Since it's a set for the car, then why not be able to access it(let me give you an example: a stupid thing, imo, in LFS is that when you save a layout for a specific track, you can not load it on the reversed version of that very same track+configuration - not the same thing, but I hope you will get the point :razz. So, then, another solution from your suggestion came to my mind: Why not have: STT(Show setups for This Track only); STC(Show setups for This Configuration only); HOT(Hide setups for Other Tracks, eg: Show the setups that contain this track's name or do not match with any other track) and SAT(Show setups for All Tracks), and yet when in SAT mode, still highlight the ones, the names of which match this track's and/or configurations' names.

Anyway, in that case it might become a little overdone, so maybe it would be the best if we just stick to the main idea.

Well, the server is up and running normally now. You are all more than welcome to come.

Also our 1000th player joined today. There are 1010 players registered, at the time I am posting this.

So, I thought that maybe it would be good to change the color of the setups that include the name of the current track we are about to drive on, in case we have just joined the server, or in case you are new to LFS and don't yet know the track names by heart. You know, the default color right now(if you haven't picked a different color for the setup name of course) is black... So I thought maybe change it to something lighter. Like light gray, which we already have as default for /msg messages anyway. Or maybe to make it better for the eyes to note the difference and respond faster, maybe the blue, that is used to announce that a new guest is connecting. Or whatever color seems good for there - just different from the current one.

And I don't mean only the short track name, but also make it work when it contains either the long track name or the configuration name.

Also one more thing: Some people may want to remove the spaces from the track/configuration/both names to save space, so maybe check if records exist with and in the same time without spaces(that didn't sound quite right, but I hope you got what I wanted to say).

It would use some more traffic, but it wouldn't make that much difference. And, yes, I had considered to make an open and close function on the side, but after some more thinking, I found out that I would need to use 3 lines each time I need to update the database, instead of one, and it would make no difference anyway. So that way is better, imo.

Quote from bosbrandje :There is a way to solve the problems. The programmers can program a 'crash avoider'.
For example, car A drives towards T1 and another car B, right behind car A brakes too late, crash imminent. This can be calculated and an automated sending to the pit lane for car B can be programmed.
Same goes for crashing from the side; excessive sudden movements which mean imminent crash between cars can be calculated, and just before any crash there can be automated measures taken.

And when you send a /pitlane command over the insim:
1. The connection > Your app. <-> Dedi < will definitely have some(even if it's minimal) lag.
2. I have never seen this command being executed in the millisecond you press Enter on the dedi. So the logic leads to the other connection > Dedi <-> User < , which also has some lag.
3. From 1 and 2 you can see how complicated it gets. You have to track the time to the crash, and how big the risk of a crash is(speed difference). Then based on that you need to decide how many seconds before the crash you want to pitlane/spectate the car. And here's another trick: Which car shall we spectate? If we track which one is making a sharper turn, then what if one of the cars is on a turn, faster and the other one is just close to it, but has cut the turn and is now about to hit the car that is in the right way.

In 2 words: Won't work.
At least not accurate enough with the information we have been provided with by now.

Well those are words from someone who knows almost nothing about coding anyway, so I might be wrong.
