Quote from S14 DRIFT :or b) Don't bother to learn to speak fluent English so every time you try (by necessity) to have a conversation with one of these (sorry but it's true) mostly Eastern European people, you end up wanting to punch them in the face. GET SOME ROSETTA STONE, ASSHOLES..

So, how many languages do you speak? I know you're talking about immigrants rather than tourists, but I always find it quite ironic when english speaking people complain about others not being able to speak english, despite they know no other language themselves (even when formally educated in one).

Quote from S14 DRIFT :or even c) Are not trained in anything of worth (i.e they do not hold any sort of professional qualifications such as a doctorete, degree, A-level, etc) and end up working in Burger King for 3 years before buggering back off to their home country. I mean, what the ****..

Yeah, bloody immigrants stealing your low wage job. Such a bunch of bad people ^^. Honestly, I think immigration would be much more of a problem if they were going for jobs that the domestic population actually wants to do.

Perhaps criticism wouldn't be deleted if it was contructive rather than pesonally insulting Eric... Just sayin'.

Quote from JJ72 :Because of the Uncanny Valley, really.

Because humans look lifelike, but just not enough to feel real, thus inducing a certain disconnected negative feeling towards them?

Quote from Macfox :note: opportunity was given to Eric to object to this disclosure, however no answer was received via PM(disabled) or email.

As it was posted via PM and not here, I highly doubt it was Erics intention to bring this to the public.

Still, the content of the PM isn't exactly newsworthy, as it contains nothing new and just states the obvious on the state of this forum, so I guess it doesn't do much harm posting it here.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Presumably you haven't played enthusia.

While I do love enthusia, GT5 is still the better overall package.

Also, IIRC, parts of the Enthusia team were hired by polyphony to work on GT5's physics.

Quote from Bob Smith :I've been into this game most of my life (was but 9 years old when I first got the TT demo), you can find a bunch of heightmaps I made here: http://bmp.thefloatingwidget.net/heightmaps/

I love playing with realistic landscapes and a fair bunch of NewGRF addons for extra vehicles and industries. I usually start games around 1840, fun to start off with horse and carriages and sail boats and work all the way through to hover busses and mag lev trains.

O man, I loved TTD back in those days. But didn't you start in 1950? Or were you using a mod?

I also don't see any benefit in this (at least if you rule out the added publicity).
LfS is already digitally distributed, and by not using steam or a similar service, there is no additioal step between the devs and the customers, which means that a) the release of patches (i know...) is slightly faster, as they don't have to put it through and adapt it to a different publishing channel, and b) LfS is cheaper/ the devs have more revenue per sale, as there is no third party wanting to earn money with it.

Somehow I think it smells fishy for a 20 year old girl to work behind the camera in a porn production. Unless she's there to help the male actors... get into shape.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Trees are a renewable resource however. You can't "grow" oil (to make into plastic).. however trees are relatively easily replaced, just requires a bit of time.

Saying that cutting down trees isn't green is stupid as they are entirely renewable..

Now there's a misconception. Oil too, is a natural, renewable ressource. It just takes a tiny while longer to regenerate than a tree.

Not that I've been to the military - I chose to be a civil worker instead of following the "call of duty" - but from what I gather, serving in a mandatory drafting army does not improve people in discipline and/or maturity.

So no worries there, TVE!

So, how's about doing a Top Gear Challenge style competition?

I'd imagine it like this: Every contender has 10.000 credits to spend on a car.
Then we'd race.
After that, everyone can spend the remaining credits of his 10.000 on upgrades, and then we'd race again.

As venues, I'd imagine the TG test track, Daytona and/or the Nordschleife.

Quote from Madman_CZ :snip

I think it might really be your cable, if it is a 1.0 HDMI cable.. Try using a 1.3 HDMI instead (or 1.4, but that additional number is for 3D support).
Also, a 1.3 cable shouldn't set you back more than 10 €. And stay away from the "gold-plated" connector cables, as they do eff all, but cost more.

Quote from dadge :a bag of kitty litter will also do a similar job. throw a shovel into the boot too.

Not advised unless you haul cats :P Sorry, couldn't help myself, but I kept rereading that part because I couldn't grasp the true meaning of it.

As for depressurizing your tyres: Not that useful to be honest. It slightly improves your traction on ice, but it makes matters worse in deep snow.

Snowchains are the best tool, as they grip better than spiked tyres and can be removed if not needed, allthough that is quite a hassle.

Quote from flymike91 :They are absolutely no ways for women to avoid this kind of treatment in Islamic, male dominated societies except to be slaves to their husbands and even that obviously doesn't work

While I agree that women's opression and abuse is a bad thing and I am an avid fighter for gender mainstreaming, you again show that you have no knowledge whatsoever about islam, but rather repeat what certain media outlets püroclaim to be the truth.

By islamic rules, the man represents the family outside of the house, while his wife has to be covered up, isn't allowed to speak to strangers and has to walk behind him.
At home though, that's a totally different matter: The (main)wife is the absolute ruler INSIDE the house. She can determine the times the husband is allowed to stay home, can prevent him form entering said home and can order her husband to buy whatever she or the household needs and he has no right to object her.

That's a reason why western feminism doesn't reach muslim women: many don't want to trade their domestic powers and responsibilities for rights and responsibilities outside of what they percieve as their domain.

Of course this is just an idealised representation of the rules, and in islamic families, domestic violence can and will happen. But that problem isn't limited to islamic families, but is quite severe in western societies too.
And it's not always the man who is the aggressor or oppressor. Just men very rarely decide to report the abuse they're taking.

rant over

Quote from CoolColJ :Well my GT-R Spec V is over 1600kg and it hauls ass, and handles pretty nice for the weight. Handles well enough to whip some 1 million credit exotica.

GT-R defies gravity, as it does in real life

Yeah, it was scary how it blitzed the supercar series in professional with just a few upgrades. It's so easy to drive fast compared to the R8 or Murcielago that I suspect that Kaz favoured japanese cars a tad over the other ones.

But then, it's filled with magical trickery and almost broke Clarksons neck by simply cornering, so it might be realistic after all.
