Hmm... you could cut and resample CSR files... but they would have clipping like hell

Well there are a few things I would like to see in the !tr display:

- the current amount of laps to be driven at the current track
- mustpit on/off
(I know both of them are only reported at race start - but if you use FULL track rotation you could take these values from there?? )

- A complete list of the current track rotation would be nice... Then you can see which track is coming next, after the next and so on...

An other thing is that I would like to have a command like !now to just print the current date/time into the chat. Then you shortly can check the time while racing without having to click to remove the !ver buttons.

A variable to print out date/time to use in custom text, race start message, custom command would be nice too

Then you could create a welcome text like:

Hello! Welcome at our server. The server time is ..... Race clean and have much fun!

Or you could create a race start text like

Race start at <Date/time> @ <track> have fun and drive clear!

oh... then I would need a track variable too...

Some calculations would be nice to for the !event command:

Our next event starts in... (countdown)...

Well future music I guess...

Hmm... VoID and me had a test session yesterday and we came to the conclusion that the pit exit and entry check only works good at a few tracks... (BL1, KY1, KY2)

At all other tracks the painted pit exit/entry line crosses the normal race path. So we need to set the last/first pit node that early/late that it makes no real sense because nobody would enter/exit the pits that early/late.

So I was thinking and thinking what could be done...

And the only solution coming into my mind is that there should be 2 checks. First you have to pass the last pit node coming out of the pits, but then you also have to pass a defined area on the track located exactly at the end of the painted pit exit line (coordinates like the restricted areas).

But then there also must be a check if the car passes a node just behind this area. So you could prevent cars crossing the line without passing the defined area. Or cars that just stop or go slow after passing the last pit node.

Entering the pits should be a bit easier: Check if the car passes the defined area, check if it passes the first offPath node and if it enters the pits then.

Well I am no programmer, but it sounds quite complicated for me and might be a lot of work for all Admins too to define all these nodes and areas...

Hmm... I hope someone could follow me....

oops...

I guess I forgot the ironic / sarcastic tags

Well...

There is one thing I don´t like with Airio atm:

If you drive an outlap (out of the pits) you get a message saying:

"Invalid personal stats from this lap were not saved" (line 256)... I think this text is quite confusing... So I changed the text to "This was not a complete lap"...

This should be better in my mind.

There also is a text: "KICKED FOR SECURITY" (line 182)... well should be "KICKED FOR SAFETY" in this case...

There are a lot of texts in the German translation that are too long for the 64bit limit. So I had to change some of them in to a sorter version.

Perhaps there is a way for Airio calculating the length of a chat output and separate them 2 lines if needed like this:
Quote :
Top Speed 1 (kmh) for
TheFastGuy: 184,21 kmh

You are doing this with available layouts (!axi) too atm which works good.

Hmm... I can´t follow you, GmiRacing - sorry.

LFS is an online racing simulator and Airio is an online tool for this online Racing simulator.

So why is there a problem with an online changelog and online manual???

If you need a PDF then install a free PDF printer and print the Airio website as PDF.

Ok the manual is not up to date atm but the changelog says enough in my point of view.

And believe me: I updated enough Airio versions (the common ones and a lot of test version before the next release became public). It never took me more than 5 minutes... And Airio itself was offline for about 10 seconds while updating the exe and pdb.

So I really can´t follow your way of discussion!

I see a straight line: implementing useful requests as fast as possible, testing, bugfixing, testing and bugfixing... Finally releasing the next version.

This is no Microsoft Windows that is full of bugs and takes years until the next version is released.

Finally:

Quote :In my opinion, your lapper is the best i have seen in the past!

If you are looking for a lapper... this way please: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=58267

This is the thread of the Airio Tracker.

Last tip:

I would exchange the XAMPP favicon on your homepage...

Quote :The initial 2.3.2 release had some small deficiencies. I did a quick update, meanwhile adding one more feature, the possibility to check correct pitlane entry, not only pitlane exit. Ah, also incorrect entry/exit can be now penalized as you wish. To get the new things, just download 2.3.2 again...

Just updated and will check the entry nodes (at KY only I think) this afternoon...

Layouts again...

Well as Airio admin I can list and load layouts.

But I don´t see a command to save a layout... Normally as Server admin I can load a layout from my home computer and it is available for all users at this moment. I also can use the /axsave command to save a layout on the server.

Would it somehow be possible to create a !axs command for Airio enabling to save layouts? Else we always need an server admin to upload new layouts...

I also would like to view the list of available layouts as buttons (!axi command). We have 6 layouts atm and listing them as chat does not work because of the 64bit limit...

Ok.. I have Win7 64 bit installed now.

Well... LFSRelax works! But it crashes after a few minutes

Well then I set it to run as Administrator AND to run it in compatibly Mode (WinXP SP3)... I played an hour without crash...

Will test some more time tomorrow.

EDIT:

Ok it still kept crashing, but recompiling with Microsoft´s free Visual C# Express Edition helped. Now it works as it should - only the shift beep sometimes works - sometimes not...

Thanks, Jason!

Well I am using the 64bit version... so getting the OCX to work was quite hard, but I found an installer which did the job (VB6Runtime custom setup).

After installing this Runtime LFS sound and CSR sound are at the same time and you are right - it does not matter

At Win XP both sounds have been delayed by a fraction of a second - and there it DID matter...

Now I need getting LFSRelax running stable (it crashed from time to time). Because if LFSRelax crashes, OutGaubeGateway crashes too and disables CSR... But this might be a point for an other thread.. Thanks!

Quote :Oh? I really hope that would not be the case, because when I was checking this last time it was working OK. Also I tried this on your server and it seemed OK to me, my stats were correctly reported and saved.

Hmm... strange... I did a quite good lap at one of the layouts, then we changed the layout by ending the session. We did some other layouts and when we came back all PBs were gone...

Well OK... as we raced this layout the first time I just loaded it in SHIFT+U menu from my home computer. Later we uploaded several layouts via FTP and I created the track rotation.. maybe this was the problem.

Hi there!

Well I know this is a rather old, but GREAT piece of software. Ok... I had some problems with it using WinXP: I had to turn off all sounds with the slider - except for skid and wind to be able to hear the GREAT CSR sound without overlapping. But I was not able to hear other cars around me

Someone here said that XP and Vista have a different sound management and that it works with Vista. However I have installed the RC1 of Win7 (64bit) to test CSR again.

Well I discovered the same problem I need to turn off the sounds in LFS with the SHIFT+A menue in order to not hear some double sounds (LFS/CSR mixture). But then I cannot hear other cars around me

An other thing - I believe this is a Win7 problem - is that sometimes the "Road Noise" sound get stuck. Then I permanently hear this sound - even when I am in the pits and no one else is on the server. I am also not able to edit the sounds. If I try to, CSR crashes with the error: "Run-time error 339: Component "MSCOMCTL.OCX" or one...."

But since the link to the missing OCX files is not working anymore............

Hi!

I discovered a problem rotating several BL3 layouts with Airio:

I set up the rotation like this:

BL3_layout1|5|MRT > BL3_layout2|5|MRT...

I also set the races to rotate to 4. But if I type !tr I only see this:

"Races after the track was loaded: 5, Next track: BL3_layout2/5/MRT".
The text "Races after track was loaded" grows and grows and grows...but a rotation does not happen - I have to end the race manually!

At "normal" rotation I see : "Races after the track was loaded: 5/6, Next.....".

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I also discovered that PBs are deleted if I we return to a layout we raced before

Wow... I found the source in an old backup...

Perhaps someone of you can improve it?

However... Just install Airio and disallow the B2R tag - except for the real members of course.

That´s what my Airio config does.

Hi EQ!

Today we had a strange kick for inactivity:

A guy just joined the race as the lights were going from first to second red light - last place.

But just after the T1 he got kicked for inactivity... ???

Any clue why?

Quote :Right, simply taking MSG (or SET, maybe others in the future) files from root and overwriting the existing files in subfolder is not always the expected and desired behavior. I think I'll remove the default SET file completely from the archive, I'll just leave mention about its possible use in the configuration suggestions.

But files in root must take precedence and must be moved to subfolders because of other features. The best way to ensure you'll not lose your work suddenly is, in my view, renaming the existing files before copying new ones. Thus the required behavior is preserved and even after erroneous update you have the option to delete/rename files and use previous configuration.

Worth mentioning is the fact that FULL version creates daily backup of all TXT (configuration, stats, log) files, optionally sending it to other FTP location. Reverting to old config including customized messages or broken stats is then easy.

I guess removing these files might be the best solution. My problem is not that I don´t have a backup to restore me prior settings! My Problem is that I have a private server running Airio. If after an update the default set file is called automatically (I set Airio to restore default server settings 30 minutes after the last player left) the server suddenly is public (/pass= )...

Ah! Then Airio only copies the Airio.set.1.txt file if it exists in the root folder?

Hmm... then I would suggest to do the following:

1.) provide the Airio ZIP with already existing SET folder which includes the Airio.set.1.txt in the standard version.

1.) Check if there is an Airio.set.1.txt in the root.

2.) If so copy to SET folder. (This is the case you are updating an rather old Version without SET folder)

3.) Check if there is a Airio.set.1.txt in the set folder.

4.) If so do nothing.

5.) else create the standard one.

Other Language MSG are not provided in the current ZIP. But if they are some time I would suggst to do the same. Just Imagine someone is running Airio with customized different languages (as I do)... You would kill the hard work of reading and editing about 400 txt lines.

And there is a bug!...

Well again I discovered my Airio.set.1.txt file reseted to the standard one:

pass=
!ch on

...

I guess the following went wrong:

When I update Airio to a new version I extract the zip and then I copy all files and folders from the old version in to the folder of the new version - except for the Airio.exe and the Airio.pdb of course. So I do not loose any settings, PBs etc.

Now I can start the new Airio to hold the downtime rather short.

Then I open the confing files directly from the ZIP with PSPad and compare it with my current config files. So I see the new options and copy/paste them in to the current config file. If ther is something interesting to configure I do it and then I just reload the Airio settings with !rld - done

BUT...

I also copy the SET folder into the folder of the new Airio version and I have no Airio.set.1.txt in the root folder of Airio....

So I guess Airio does not see a Airio.set.1.txt in the root, creates one and copies it in to the SET folder. But here the still existing file becomes overwritten...

This is just a guess... But it would be nice if someone could test and confirm this issue.

Quote :In my view the question is why use some external ban file. You can ban all those usernames just once for a looong time and then backup the server BAN file and use it in case system is reinstalled.

Well in my opinion Airio left the beta status long ago ans has its own good working backup system. LFS still is in alpha status... And the maximum ban time is 999 days.

I believe most Server admins are not running their servers from one directory. So you need to backup and take care of several BAN files - having Airio controlling itm it would be much easier to handle... Also as far as I know it is not possible to view or edit the BAN file.

Well I think a complete ban management by Airio (deleting names from the list when the ban time is over, saving a ban reason etc.) might be way too much!

But a kind of:

ban= licencename

would be great!

If a guy in this list wants to connect he gets a defineable message and becomes kicked after let´s say 10 sec.
