Sure, with some skill you of course can an should fight for position - no matter how fast you are.
But as I beginner I had problems to drive the car at all. So my whole concentration went in to the driving itself and I was not able to concentrate on other drivers too.
So I decided to stay at the back of the field to improve my car handling and my times first before starting to fight.
Well we are also running 2 XFG/XRG Demo servers and we have the same problem:
A lot of idiots are joining our servers with the only purpose to crash other cars.
This is the reason why our team members and marshals are quite nervous kicking someone quite fast to ensure a safe race.
Of course mistakes are done and we might kick someone by error!
But for this case every team running a server has a own forum and you can post your issue there and it is possible to check the logs or auto-saved replays then - and to excuse of course.
Anyway, 2 seconds off the leaders pace really is quite slow, so I would advise to drive VERY careful and try to avoid every contact. Once being last you have time enough to improve your times. Once you are able to do low 1:35 or high 1:34 times I would suggest to start learning to fight FAIR for positions. In my opinion letting someone go is better than forcing an overtaking which leads in to a crash.
However chatting with our admins and marshals to share setups and experiences might help a lot. There are a lot of damn fast guys on our servers - even driving with mouse or keyboard.
The shift beep only works with cars that still have a sift light. Demo cars don´t have a shift light - except for the FBM.
The beep sound itself is quite silent. So you might not hear it with a loud engine sound. Perhaps try to make it louder with a sound editing program like Audacity.
Well then indeed you need to remove the / and you have to create a welcome.txt file in root folder.
But to display such kind of messages in game I would recommend to install an insim app like Airio or LFSLapper - sorry all Lapper friends, but for me Airio is much easier to configure.
I asked Yamakwa in a PM if he also could add a button showing the number of pit stops the guy in front or back has done.
If have done such a custom version by my own with the help of a friend since I am not good enough in coding. But I am not able to add the support for the ShiftBeep.
Anyway, first of all Yamakawa´s version with Pit seems not to work for me.
So I used a TextDiff tool to find what he changed to enable the ShiftBeep.
The result is a version with a working ShiftBeep, working Pit indicator and it has been compiled with Win7 64 bit - so it definitely works with Win 7 64 bit!
I don´t know if it still works on 32bit windows though. If not, just recompile it.
However, the TS thing does not work for me so I set this option to false in the cfg.
Well for me the windows size and position aren´t saved too.
Win7 64 bit, Nvidia 9600GT (latest driver), desktop at 1920x1080.
Every time I close LFS in windowed mode - not matter if I choose the Exit button or just use the X and no matter which window size or position I manually choosed - LFS starts with a quite small window positioned top left.
I only need to start in FULL screen mode and it is not possible to click the buttons. I have to try to find a "clickable" point to select multiplayer but then it opens the driving school instead..
I am back to Z18 for now.
Windows 7 64bit final, Nvidia 9600GT driver version 191.07, 1920x1080x32
EDIT: sorry was typing while you posted... seems to be a known problem right now
As far as I know this is a NVidia driver related problem. With the new Aero they are not able to use the span mode anymore.
Anyway, facing this issue it would be REALLY great if you could manage to broach every single display - as Windows system configuration does: I have 3 displays with 2 display cards. But using Win7 (or Vista) I cannot either span all three of course nor two of them. I only can uses every screen as a single screen (or clone them).
I like that behaviour in Windows - I would hate having one BIG desktop! So I never would buy a TH2GO...
Perhaps you are able to "read" the windows display setup and LFS might know that the main display is a 1080p display, the two others are 1280x1024 displays and how they are ordered and then LFS would render 3 independent pictures...
Or perhaps if it is not possible to read the windows setup an option to enter how many screens are connected with which resolution may do the trick too.
However, else there are no issues with Z18 yet thx
Ah, ok... anyway, it is hard to get a non widescreen TFT todays... so perhaps it would be possible to change the button size at widescreen resolutions...
Well I don´t know if it is a bug - and if, if it is known... But I bought a new 23´´ widescreen today and I am running it at 1920x1080.
However, while racing I often check my tire temperatures - but I only realize the colour - not the shown temperatures. But using this resolution I am not able to see the colours because the temperatures are shown at the tire surface showing the temperature in colours... (see screenshot)
Do I have to live with that issue, or might that become fixed?
oops didn´t think about mouse users... but on the other hand I think this function is useless while driving. So in spectate mode you should be able to interact with the mouse in every situation.
Right, but if you want to spectate a special car by choosing it from the map, you probably would like to know who he is. So once selected the car you either have to press V several times to see his name in the TV or chase view, or you have to press N again to see the little arrow pointing at his name...
Thank you very much for the hard work to release patch 16/17!
However I have to say that I am kind of "addicted" to the shift light - but it is much harder to see than the old one. So I would suggest to make it a bit brighter or - would be my favourite - to add a shift beep (with a turn on/off option in sound menu of course).
Second thing is the pit speed limit shown with the direction arrow... Well all tracks have a speed limit of 80km/h... So why to show it?
Or does this mean Rockingham will have another speed limit in the pits than the other tracks?
Or do we get an option to choose custom speed limits in further versions - which would be much appreciated esp. in Kyoto and Westhill?
