Quote from Klutch :Never been able to talk to someone so openly and freely, we're both comfortable with each other and weve been discussing "Dos and Donts" and such.
And i believe communication is key.

Dude, sorry to be harsh, but you act more like her girlfriend than like a Real Man. Girls need to share feelings and feel connected, but she has girlfriends to share feelings with, and if you start acting like one, you lose masculine traits of character. You too may need to share feelings sometimes, but don't do this with a potential gf. This way there's no mystery about you for her.

Then, talking of what's right and wrong and doing, maintaining the order, are completely different matters. Just an example: a girl said I have a point on ethics and that she supported me in that, but the very next day she invited me to do sports so that inconveniencies and efforts were 100% to me, 0% to her, and the pleasure would be shared 50/50. I hated but had to say "No way."

Be a man, dude, value yourself.

Quote from amp88 :Now you're back to missing the point again. If I had a teenage child (somewhere between 15 and 17, say but those are somewhat arbitrary) I wouldn't mind if they experimented with alcohol, cigarettes or marijuana. I wouldn't want them to become an alcoholic or a regular smoker (until they were of legal age to do so) but life lessons learned by the person themselves carry more weight than being told not to do something by a parent.

Interesting. First, until what age is it normal to live with parents and not work in your country?

If your kid comes home on all four, what do you do? What's a fair punishment and what's not? If a kid comes home with frequent hangovers, is it better to take action or let them grow and hope they understand things themselves and become responsible persons as you say?

It's fair to say that if there's no immediate consequence of alcohol abuse, the person doesn't learn anything.

Quote from jibber :I smoke weed since 15 years, daily. I have yet to experience any of those things.

I also know lots and lots of people who smoke weed on a daily basis, some of them do this since before the day i was born (more than 30 years). I have yet to meet somebody who shows any of those nonsense "after effects" of smoking weed.

From some time few years ago I don't believe in anecdotes nor favour others in this. Even when being sincere, people continuously self-deceive, over-estimate their own abilities and those of the others, be it (1) alcohol ("Others can drink much and don't vomit"), (2) smoking ("I can quit whenever I want"), (3) sleeping ("I/that guy sleep(s) only N hours a day").

Nice belief, but must be another wishful thinking. Any experimental evidence to support this idea?

Quote from Niels Heusinkveld :Apple has become very clever at making people pay quite a lot of money on something they either don't need or they could buy for a lot less money from a different manufacturer.

Not only. There's also a "pet to care" factor: basically, if you buy a poorly designed phone or player, to use it daily you have to care of it 15-30 minutes each day. I remember owning an expensive phone in 2002, in which, morning alarm could be set for 1 time only, so I needed to set alarms for each day. To delete SMS, it took 3-4 clicks. When it fell down from my jeans pocket, the scroll wheel button failed, and that was the "Enter" button. Had to repair it for 1/4 of price (which could buy me a new simple phone) had to wait for a month, and still I hadn't enough and tried to continue using it

Ridiculous.

I've read the features list, and looks like we're supposed to spend a load of money for something you get locked into. Can get software from iStore, can't load anything from external sources, DRM that will prolly stop you from playing radio in mp3 from podcast...

Thanks to all for posting here, I really appreciate your feedback, both supportive and critical.

Now some news. I've changed a job this week, the 3rd time this year. After quitting the 1st company, the boring one, I worked at the 2nd, let's call it the evil co. Salaries were low and the bosses were mistreating everyone, but it was temporary for me, and I learned a lot. Then I moved to another city and came to the 3rd company, of 2 founders and 4 employees including me. Everything was fine untill we were out of orders and cash. The founders said we needed to find different jobs in 3 weeks, and so I did. A little bit sad - I liked it a lot, but I've found a very good offer.

Needless to say, my CV now looks a lot better than in March, and salary is much higher than in the boring company.

So... it paid off.

A curious story that one should take the opportunities
Wednesday, I've been to a company that needed Python programmer. They required Django, that I only started learning recently, but I decided that it's better to try anyway: maybe I could impress them with other skills, experience, etc.

I was straight and told that started trying Python this spring, and hadn't worked with Django for production. They asked to solve some twisted problems on programming, then we talked a little on what I know and what I worked with, and in the end they were really quite impressed. We agreed to contact Friday.

Next day I was invited to an interview, Friday too. Ok, why not try, - I thought, - I could do that just for training. So I came and talked to them, solved some tasks, and so on. In the end of the interview they offered me a position, a good salary, and I could start as soon as I wanted.

Few hours later I got rejected by the Python company. (Prolly, they weren't as impressed as I imagined). That was quite polite of them to write me, so that I hadn't to wait&guess.

Never negate an opportunity.

Quote from pasibrzuch :Yes, I can't find any matching word too. I saw 'layout ' in Czech instalation and I was like "what?" Hrvatski version is untraslated there... Hungarian has smth like organised cones....

Edit: Now I think that once a fresh user will 'get 'it looking at KJS, he will forget it and use slang anyway - lejaut

I use the equivalent of "scheme".

Quote from DoC_uk :Just curious as to what the guys outside the UK are paying for Win7 ... from what I gather from the lemmings that 'just bought regardless' about £70 ish for the basic home ...
I realise that the home pro will be £120 .. my question is ...The os it worth it?

My fellows got it from torrents, and I don't remember anyone to buy a new laptop recently (in which it could be pre-installed).

I have empty partitions on my HDD left for Windows, but since I changed HDD in spring, but I won't bother to install it. Using Ubuntu for 2 years, and earlier I tried Mandriva.

Quote from detail :Does graphics slow down with these settings?

Answering my own question: yes, it does, significantly. 5 or 7 screens reduce FPS by the factor of about 3.

Quote from yaper :You don't have to have more than one monitor to use multi-monitor functionality.

It does nice job with one monitor too, just add monitors in LFS and experiment with monitor angle. It can offer you fish-eye projection.
You can have the same FOV, but gain better visibility of the dials, or you can extend your FOV without long arms effect. It creates some barrel distortion, but this is better than long arms. And of course stronger videocard is required, because it eats a lot of FPS.
See and compare attached pictures. Parameters of the view are in file names.

Wow never thought of that, thanks a lot! Does graphics slow down with these settings?

This is a linear approximation of cylindrical projection, and the latter is often the only way to make a wide panorama. Though I'd prefer a single, true cylindrical projection. But this is good too.

The curved lines like in fish eye are a normal thing, I mean 3 dimensions of a vision sphere around you can't be transformed to be shown in 2D flat monitor. If monitors were curved and you sat in the center, straight lines would have been straight.

Quote from rockclan :I have been drunk MANY times, and NEVER had a hangover.
One time, I had drank REALLY much, really to much:

2 complete bottles of Baileys, 40 small shot bottles out of germany, and 2 beers.
Was on my vacation, at a party.
...
When I woke up, I was all wet, but didn't feel bad or had a hang over.

Lucky guy. I can't swallow beer after 1 litre, and if I drink wine, I take 1 glass of wine, 1 of coffee. Because otherwise, if I drink wine/champagne only, a headache strikes me in 3-4 hours.

It seems to me that Z22 loads textures a bit slower than Z20. First 4% load quite slowly.
Why LFS doesn't load everything at startup?

If I have 2-3 GiB of RAM free when a user starts LFS, would it be theoretically possible to load all tracks and textures in the background using the 2nd CPU core, so that the user doesn't have to wait anymore?

When LFS loads textures, does it load them into PC RAM, or GPU RAM?

I've been in pits editing a setup when lost connection from a host. Here's what I see and nothing happened anymore for minutes after that. (My internet connection wasn't down, since I'm writing this right now after that).

The sign reads: "no cars on track". Closed with Alt+F4.

Obama's prize makes no sense, since he hasn't done anything except cancel the missile project, mostly for financial shortages.

It just shows how inflated this prize is (as well as literature prize). Just imagine Fleischmann&Pons have prize for their promise of cold fusion and cheap energy for everyone.
