A thing that I recall, not connected directly, but is said quite often: for example "why i like F1" or "why the new qualifying format is cool" — because "any mistake costs a lot".

Very sad. R.I.P.

Ban the Kid. Nothing personal, just way too much noise. At least, this would save much time of both the Kid and the others.

Quote from MyBoss :Would be fun with a competition where the devs/community choose the top three tracks, so the devs can add them to the game and make the correct adjustments to the tracks to.

Or another situation, after S3 is released the devs (or someone else) is in charge of a competition every quartal (I hope that is the right word) where one winner/ one track is choosen to get implemented in the game.

I don't pretend to be an "author", the ideas come to us independently, but I supposed the same idea before, couple of years ago. Good point.

i have avatars and signatures turned off, because they just explode messages. 1 line post occupies half of the Opera's screen - no, thanks. Also avatars confuse you when people change them.

Looks like in LFS there is always more dust and dirt than smoke, but it's quite real: you need tyre to overheat and burn to see smoke, while it's very easy to throw a lot of dust into the air.

What music does play at F1 podiums when the racers spray the champagne? This one would be nice.

Quote from xapexcivicx :Once again, install the mod, and just add some AI. I'm not trying to be an A$$, but it's probably coming that way, my apologies.

No problem But AIs either drive like by rails or one of them gets off the track quickly. Also they consume a bunch of CPU resourses (even on my athlon xp 2600+ i can get only about 35 fps with 11 AIs and min graphix), too much to record a normal video.

Anyway, i've raced with smoke intensity 25000 against 11 AIs, that's very cool! The dust stays long above the road!

I've suggested that before and suggested Victor to make LFSWorld in UTF-8 completely, to get rid of those buggy conversions, but he said "no". Still, at LFSW he converts other symbols into html entities like &1234;. The majority uses win1252 with latin alphabet + germanic symbols, they can't understand the importance of UTF and how many problems can be solved.

Just look how nicely wikipedia works, so sad we don't have the same in LFS.

Quote from Misko :So how long is a mile? I never knew that. I mean how it is defined, how many yards?

I'm also interested how can it be measured with human body.

Quote :Imperial units are comfortable units. A pound can be held in the hand. A kilo is too heavy. A pint can be held in the hand. It's impractical to hold a litre!

OMG, what a creative guy, how long did it take him to invent such crazy advantage?!
Quote :Metric has robbed people of their sense of value. Few people realise that petrol is over £3 a gallon because the change to litres means that many people can no longer relate quantity to price. Similarly with food: A tin of beans used to be 1lb. That's 453g. Since cans started being measured in grams, products have been deliberately made smaller. That's called "product shrinkage". A can of beans is now 415g, although many people still think it's 1lb. Many people think the carton of milk represents a pint. It's not. It's 68 millilitres - 12% - less than a pint. Vivian Linacre calls this The Great Gram Scam.

If i get to an imperial country, i'll get "3 feet" instead of 1 meter, but 3 feet is 10% less! It's just deceiving! BTW, in Russia everybody drinks half-litre of vodka. If a man can drink 1 bottle, and you give him a pint instead, he can throw up or even die! The same with 0.5L of beer. Hence, Englishmen were overdozing alcoholics nation for ages.

Well, these arguments are just mixing problems, shifting them off from a sick mind to a health one. It is only a commercial deceiving, not a problem of measurement system. The same problem exists here: people think that a pack of butter is 200 grams (as it always used to be in the SU), but now to reduce price by 1 rouble some producers decrease the amount to 185 grams. Not a problem of a measurement system.

Quote from xapexcivicx :You mean movie? If I'm right a replay would show the files on your computer, so you would need to have smokemod and the modded textures installed into your LFS folder. So basically you can just make one yourself. But if you mean a movie, I'de love to....If I was allowed to play =x

I mean .mpr file of a decent online race on rallyx.

I like this mod especially to race FXO GTR on rally tracks. It makes you be gentle on throttle. If you are sliding sideways, you have to release throttle, not to floor it - the car won't accelerate ahead, but will continue sliding like on ice (which means that 4wd isn't a jet thrust).

I remember last year at the Superfund-3000 race at Dijon the track personell hadn't got british hymn. The team representative who was at the podium just spontaneously sang "God, save the Queen" entirely into a TV camera (thus everybody heard that through loud-speakers)

I need to transfer a 27 Mb file with a recorded radio program to some particular people who will be interested to listen it.

I just can't find a proper service. There is one Russian server, but it can handle files not more than 20 Mb (don't want to split it).

Would anyone help me, please?

ButterTyres, Good observation about BTCC, however there are some reasons for that i doubt on this possibility.

First, BTCC is a closed community, all the racers are professionals there, they know their limits, they better than we can predict others and can feel responsibility. All together this makes them do these maneouvers safely. LFS is an opened community, so racing clean of contacts is the only way to divide fair fight and wrecking. Also, as mentioned above, lags, that cause "explosions", are an issue.

How much hp do those Champ Cars have? Is it possible at all to add 50 to say 700 hp (less than 10%) and get a significant advantage at a short straight?

I'd suggest to make a special car, looking like ChampCar, with such a feature, so that those who want or do not want this effect, would be able to enable or disable it.

I was taught to metric system since childhood, and nobody had to deal with imperial until the beginning of 1990s when we've got a wave of information from the US. For example, on TV, good translators do convert miles, feet, Fahrenheits into kilometers, meters, Celsius, but usually they don't. Needless to speak about computer games: in some of them there are only mph. For 10 years i've learned to convert roughly mph into kph, feet in meters, gallons in litres in my mind, but Fahrenheit degrees and other weird values like miles per gallon, lbs, lb/ft, don't say anything to me.

I also have to deal with nautical miles in MSFS. They didn't make a good switch to metric system: whatever system you select in options window, nm are always used in GPS, ATC tells you the american altimeter instead of QNH, and so on. Why in the world the Europe has followed the american measurement system in aviation?! What was the problem to oblige them to make it compatible with metric?! Of course, now with so many aircrafts in use it's impossible to change the historically formed system, and the questions are rhetorical.
