If you already pay for a TV license, you're paying to watch anything broadcasted on the channels you receive. You are perfectly allowed to plug a DVD-R into your set-top box, and record anything for later viewing. I'm not with Sky, so I can't get Sky+. And I refuse to pay our crowd another ~€70 for a second set-top box and receiver, to feed into our DVD-R.
I see no problem with downloading series' in that case. From a legal point of view, you are downloading copyrighted material, and your TV license doesn't cover it. Morally though, it's fine to me
The argument then is, movies are shown on TV. If I missed them when they were broadcasted, why can't I download them? Same with music channels. If I missed a song I like, why can't I download it?
I had a go on my uncle's laptop (with broadband if you don't mind ) back in about '95. Very brief go though, although it was my first click.
My first PC was in ~'98-99, an old Compaq Presario. Back in the day it had epic performance, 64MB RAM, DVD-RW and CD-RW drives, 16GB HDD, 800Mhz Pentium. Happy days spent learning HTML on that yoke
It's a 12-hour ban. Get over it. You haven't been permanently banned, consider it a warning to not name-and-shame people on the server. If it was someone elses fault, PM a LR member with the replay, and they'll be punished. Trying to sort it yourself results in this kinda thing...
Plus, nobody here can help you anyway. If you want to be unbanned, PM someone from LR, or visit their website (if they have one).
Kidnapped - Help hostage in return for a few million dollars worth of ransom.
Arrested - Given a trial (although, this step would probably be skipped), given jail time for the crimes committed.
The main difference being that several millions dollars doesn't change hands. And only those that actually do crimes are arrested. Even if it comes down to kidnapping and holding hostage only those found dumping, I'd be happy
No, they've decided to setup a piracy network to hijack and plunder from (usually) innocent ships. I've seen the work the Irish Naval Service does first hand, and I can assure you it does not involve boarding and kidnapping crew members of yachts and freighters. However, if these vessels were seen dumping into our seas, or otherwise breaking maritime laws (I'm not too sure what constitutes breaking these laws, so I'm going to leave that vague), they'd have no problem boarding and arresting crew members, as they do. See the difference?
If you want a good cheap card, find a second-hand ATi 9800 Pro. My last PC had one, ran LFS at around 50-100FPS with hi-res and 4xAA, 4xAF, using a 2.6Ghz P4. There's new ones on Ebay for less than €50
I always wondered why I could connect any of my the machines in my house together with the same cable I use for any of the routers or switches I have. I thought I'd look silly if I said it was possible
I'm not trying to force or impose my opinions onto anyone, I'm just saying that as a way of life, it can't be allowed. It's just not justified. We are undoubtedly the problem, but their reaction is OTT. Sooner or later it's going to escalate to the point where once side is going to cause serious destruction. More than likely the West
They are pirates. They plunder and hijack (usually) innocent ships, and threaten the crew until they are paid a ransom. Much like the pirates of old (but with less cannons and more AKs and more RPGs). If they want to stop the dumping in their waters, they're more than welcome to launch World War 3 on the European firms that are doing the damage. Or, even better, set up a proper "unofficial" navy to patrol their waters, much like every other country with water has. Then they can blow the shit out of anyone dumping waste, and the problem is solved.
Hijacking others is earning them millions, but what are they doing with it? Spending money on ships and planes to patrol their waters to prevent illegal dumping? Nope, buying bigger and better weapons to take down bigger and more valuable fleets. The people of Somali themselves say that the pirates lead very lavish lifestyles, with big houses, new cars and several wives (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7650415.stm). If they're so concerned about the state of their waters, why aren't they doing something to prevent it?
What about the dumping of English nuclear waste into the Irish sea? Just because that's happening doesn't mean I'm going to try and hijack some British trawlers in attempts of 6-figure ransoms
(As reference-)
IMO, sometime the pirates will sting the Americans hard. And then the Americans will end up bombing Somalia off the face of the earth
