Seeing engine damage would be a valuable information, especially for learning drivers so they can actually see what and when leads to that damage. And regarding repairs - yea,LFS mechanics are insanely fast with repairs,so it wouldn't be that different if they were able to fix engine too, however I would suggest to have it as different option in F12 menu and also that in pit it would be a seperate repair section besides minor and major repairs.
And if we start the topic about repairs, maybe in bigger future update it would be better to slow the mechanics down regarding repairs (I assume tyrechange and refuelling are pretty much fine) to give people more "penalty" for not avoiding contacts. Also one other note - if tyres are changed, tyre pressure adjustments should not cost extra time as that's a predone work of mechanics.

Quote from Degats :Thought of a potential use for the arrow colours even when lap timing is available

I would oppose this suggestion - When racing in high numbered field,it's a valuable information from map to see if a driver ahead is lap down or a driver behind is chasing me to lap. And if there are 2 drivers behind me (lapping car and direct opponent),it's a valuable information to know which is which as mirrors are not always showing everything.

Round 3

Monday,16th January
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

Last season AWS introduced new engine type in it's cars lineup - electric. This year the league goes a step further and introduces a new round specially for electric ars - Ampere Grand Prix. Since electric cars have a more limited range and energy recharge takes a lot longer than refuelling fuel for internal combustion engine, standard race length of 40 minutes would be difficult to set up and end in a fast energy conserving cruise. That's why rounds with electric cars in AWS will consist of 2 races, results of both will be counted together to have one result to declare one round winner. Both races will start with same grid order, set up from qualifying results.

Round 3 of the 2023 season features the heaviest car of the schedule - the electric BZ30 Roadster brings scales up to 1400kg,which will create own handling characteristics. Still the car is equipped with slick tyres and has minor downforce assistance to increase cornering speeds in the tricky Aston Cup configuration, which effectivelly consists of well known Aston Club and Aston Cadet reversed configurations. As always the new car brings the challenge of setting it up for the race, but well made set up is just one part of success.

Round info:
Track: Aston Cup (AS2X/A22)
Laps: 2x12 (2x52km)
Car: BZRE
Previous winners : N/A

Server info and password will be PM'ed during sunday (european time) to all entrants, until then server remains publically accessible:

Race statistics (Picture of field approaching turn 2 attached)

So we can call the test successful - 40 drivers signed up,even if 6 never arrived, there were 34 in qualifying and 30 were standing on grid waiting for green lights. A total of 15 cars were represented in race, the only car not in race was Cammera, which was drawn to Igor who left before start.

The race posted new challenges to many drivers - due different characteristics, drivers had to addapt to own cars and be more aware how different oponent's car will behave. Qualifying saw quite a dominance of FXOs and RB4s - it's questionable of due being better or just because mods don't have many years of setup developement behind, however the race changed situation,as the well known trait of the both leading car models affected their race pace - the overheating tyres troubled both FXO and RB4 cars.

After such activity it's secure that we will host a full series of this format, using the free tuesdays as a race day, aiming to start in 7th february. It will require signups (simply for the need to have drivers list for cars draw) and it will be using same racing format as in RTFR - 60 minutes qualifing (usable as practice) and approximatelly 30 minutes race, using also same LFS server. During next 2 weeks we'll be discussing possibilities and hold voting for an additional car in Race Green Autosports discord server. If not willing to join, you're welcome to cast your thoughts and ideas in this thread.

Project RandomCar - test race for new possible series
Eclipsed
S3 licensed

Hello,racers!
With addition of user created cars more than a year ago,the options for racing have widened drastically, adding possibility to race many different cars in same class. First this was used in Race Green 300km of Westhill 2022,where a total of 39 cars were available for selection initially, all balanced to be in very similar pace around the 14 kilometer track. Around then also the idea for new series ignited in my head - a league where many different cars can be used in same race through multiple rounds.

To spice things up,there is an addition to car selection - to avoid everyone selecting favourite car and have the race just like any other race, each racer will receive the car selected by a random draw (scheduled at specific time on public draw). Since all cars are still not equal (not possible on LFS's variating circuits),faster racers will have a challenge if they want to win or finish in high positions again if a slower car drawn. However racers usually driving at bottom half of the field could get assigned a car with slight advantage, which will give them a chance to finish higher than usually. Also despite leveling, some cars will always be faster in turns, some in straights, meaning there will always be some challenge during the race between racers.

To reduce some cars being overperforming or underperforming in different tracks, with time restrictions might be adjusted regarding feedback from drivers. The selected car class is TBOplus class - the average paced car class,a bit faster than the crowd favourite GTi class, yet not too fast to require professional racer's reflexes. The standard LFS's 3 TBO cars are used as a base for leveling other cars - that means approximate power weight ratio of 200BHP/ton. The additional set of cars from user created mods list are selected from approved list - all cars deemed to be potential candidates were tested to decide the restrictions.

That's the plan for longer term, however we still have to figure out if this concept of racing is interesting for racers,so we will host a test event on coming tuesday as it is the "free" tuesday between RTFR races. Since the server is free,we will use the same RTFR server without name change.

10th january 2023

18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET - 60 minutes qualifying
19:10 UTC / 20:10 CET / 21:10 EET - Race start

Track:
Rockingham ISSC (RO1)
Race distance: 21 laps (~30min)

Available cars and their restrictions:
1. ACOSTA STARLIN (21% / +180kg)
2. BZ30 ROADSTER
3. CAMMERA 730 TURBO (14%)
4. CZR LUXURY SEDAN (10%)
5. FRAUD WHEELER E2 (14%)
6. FXO Turbo (4%)
7. FZ50 (20%)
8. IMPREZZIVE B2 (22%)
9. Raceabout 06 (17% / +160kg)
10. RB4 GT
11. TALOT SUNS LOMIS (10% / +100kg)
12. URC1 (50% / 120kg)
13. VGI-6 TEDAVI (1%)
14. XF COUPE TURBO (+30kg)
15. XF TURBO 5
16. XR GT Turbo (+1%)

All cars are limited to use Road Super tyres only (Slicks are forbidden!)

It is every driver's own responsibility to use correct restriction during practice phase, however administration will try to point out wrong restriction at possibility.

Car draw:

To get a car drawn and to participate in the race, racers have to sign up for it. Cars will be drawn in 2 waves:
1st wave - monday,9th january 18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET (all who have signed up until 17:50 UTC)
2nd wave - tuesday,10th january 17:50 UTC / 18:50 CET / 19:50 EET (all who have signed up between 1st wave and signups deadline)

10 minutes before the draw a public link to scheduled draw will be posted and everyone can see live the draw.
For this test race we will use simple https://www.randomresult.com/num.php numbers draw - the online randomizer will draw same amount of numbers as signups count in range from 1 to 16 (car ID number from cars list). The order of these numbers will be same as signups order - the 1st drawn car will be assigned to 1st signup,2nd car to 2nd signup and so on (a signups list will be added to draw link).

I hope this concept of racing will be interesting to take part - if so,a future series will be created in the "free" tuesdays. Current idea is to hold a 10 race scored series through the year, where the winner of round will be allowed to select a track for next race (from a bit limited selection). Additionally the winner will be allowed to select one car for public voting, where a new addition of cars will be selected. It is planned to go through the unapproved cars list and select 5 best suited cars as candidates, where a public voting will decide which one will deserve to be added to cars lineup. Additionally if there will be many complaints about specific car from current cars list,we might held a voting for it's removal.

Race statistics / RTFR .mpr folder / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated later this week)

RTFR racing in 2023 opened in Aston, where an older layout was used once again - the unofficial layout named Classic Boot combines 3 different Aston standard configurations, while Race Green added additional chicanes to spice up the difficulty. Luckily LX4 is a very agile car,so drivers mastered (through some complains) the challenge well and delivered quite a show on the livestream. The car wasn't used in RTFR last year as with addition of mods we have way more cars available for selection than the standard 20,but it made a well crowded return with 32 participants.

Gábor was the first driver to set new best laptimes during pre-race practice, but could not set one in qualifying, earning just the outside of front row for the grid. That did not hinder him to get involved in fights with other race leaders, eventually becoming one himself with 3 laps to go just to keep the lead over finish line to score his 18th RTFR race win (matching exactly half of most winningest driver's Botsi's wins count). During the lead chase he set a new lap record, securing also fastest lap of the race - that's his 15th,but the top5 finish is his 38th. Upsas has 2 RTFR wins under his belt, but the application for 3rd one was not successful despite leading more than half of the race, but at least in qualifying he scored his 2nd pole position, adding 8th top5 finish to his achievements. Despite starting from 2nd row,R.Kardol was the surprise early leader, but after 3 laps his spotlight ended,as he lost one position after another - at the end 3rd place finish for him, which is his 68th top5 finish - with this he breaks the tie for 3rd most top5 finishes with his teammate Botsi. Unite finished 4th,but still keeps himself in lead in race for 2nd most top5 finishes as it was his 69th. Onur was close to leaders whole race long, but could just watch them from behind, having some own battles, finishing 5th at the end, which is his 5th top5 finish.

VOD at Youtube:

So quite suddenly RTFR started the new standings season just 2 weeks after end of previous one,and now will as suddenly take another 2 weeks break - the 298th RTFR will be held on 17th january. The combo was mentioned in broadcast, feel free to check yourself out if curious, full information will be posted as always in the weekend before it. And there is something else I would like to draw attention - many active and successful drivers have received PM in this website regarding 300th RTFR,more than half have still not relied to it - please do that until 20th january to have better options for public voting,as the 300th RTFR will keep the tradition of having a voted combo for the race!

(browse for various championships and single round results)

The 2nd round of this season saw an increase of attendance, that included 2 other previous champions besides the one winning 1st round. The tricky compact GTR car set up a new challenge for the drivers with it's specific handling characteristics, and with it's small 30 liter fuel tank - added a strategic feature for this race,as it was enough to complete 25 of 27 laps without a lot of fuel saving. 3 drivers still managed to finish full race distance without pitstop, other 8 had to visit pitlane for short splash and dash.

After missing round 1,the defending series champion and winningest driver in league's history V.Lakūnas joined the action in South City to carry on his winning performance - he was never really challenged and scored his 4th race win in the round and 11th total in AWS,taking also the full 22 points set from the round. The winner of season opener A.Valta was the only one to at least get close to winners pace - he finished 2nd with 13 seconds gap. Doni finished 3rd to repeat his best finish in AWS.

A.Valta extended his lead in standings to 10 points over Thehemuli and Lorenzo, who are tied in points for 2nd position, the finn however is ahead due better highest finishing position. What whill spice up the race for championship is the defending champion - let's see if he can keep the performance up through remaining 6 rounds of the season.

The 2nd round featured 4 league's rookies,2 of them did not qualify, another one retired early, but at least one of them finished to officially open the race for Rookie of the year award - Richard is still leading rookie despite not participating,he's now 3 points ahead of driver with backwards spelled name.

Race Green Autosports extended their lead in teams championship to 13 points over Zafiralis,MRc pulled 1 point closer to 2nd position but are 15 points behind leaders. Also in 2nd round Finland scored most points between all nations, increasing their lead to 28 points over Czechia. Drastic increase in signups lead Lithuania to climb up to 3rd position, setting sights to challenge table leaders.

3rd round of the 2023 series will feature 3rd new car for the league - after racing 2 sub-ton cars, next round will feature the heaviest car in AWS history. The electrically powered BZ30 Roadster exceeds 1400kg on the weight scale, but with 280kW motor and slick tyres it will be everything else than slow. Since electric cars have a limited range, this season will introduce 2-race schedule for both electric car rounds - that is what awaits drivers for round 3,but without need to save power as car's range exceeds race length.

Hello,racers!

The year 2023 has already started and now in slight short term fashion here's the main information of the year. Why such short term? Simply because not much has changed - only some numbers, the racing still is going on and best racers will receive some monetary awards for their efforts, kindly sponsored by World Class Lions. Full details can be found in Sponsorship document.

For season standings the same points system will be used as in the evergoing rating system - for full details hower mousepointer over rating sheet's green colored title bar, here are the links to both spreadsheets: RTFR and RTFR XL.

What stays same and what changes:

* RTFR is again split in 2 seasons - same as last year. The change is amount of races allocated to seasons - 2023 season 1 will consist of 12 races, starting from the 1st RTFR of the year, held on 3rd january. 6th june will mark the end of season 1 as the 12th round of it. Then we go back to casual racing - for 3 rounds RTFR will return to old times, where the racing was done simply for fun and winners glory,no standings,no awards. The 2023 season 2 starts on 1st august and will be just 10 rounds long to finish on 5th december - the 19th december RTFR will be just a simple year end race, which probably might end up as something different in terms of car/track combo while keeping the standard format.

* Practically no changes in RTFR XL - all 12 races of the year are a part of 2023 standings and just like last year only 10 best scores will count towards those (fun fact from last year - just 3 scores were not counted into standings as they were not between best 10 of the respective scorer). As always RTFR XL is set to have a race each month, meaning there cannot be 2 races in same month. This usually leads to a 6 weeks gap between races at end of year - this year this big gap will be between october and november races.

* Points system stays the same - each event has it's own system, both however are very similar. RTFR keeps the base of 20 points for winner based on 20 (or less) starters, where each 3 starters more than 20 adds 1 point to winner's gain. RTFR XL has own attendance based base score increasement, which last year reached the same 20 points for winner - if 5 races in row have more or less attendees than current base score,it get's increased or decreased by 1. Not affecting the yearly standings which leads to money prizes is the ever going rating, which until this year used to be 10 race rating for both event versions - this will be changed slightly. RTFR will have 15 race rating, slowly expanding from 1st race of the year, where oldest 5 scores will count only half as much, but in RTFR XL it will turn into 12 races rating, where also oldest 1/3 will count only half.

* User created cars will be also a feature in RTFR and RTFR XL - there will be a slight increase in mods usage frequency in RTFR (used to be every 3rd race in standings scored races),which means the frequency will shuffle between every 2nd and 3rd race, occasionally having back to back races. Couple of most popular cars from last year might have a return in schedule this year. RTFR XL however will keep mods ban for selection in race after mods race, which basically means mods cannot be used 2 races in row. A spreadsheet "RGE approved mods" has been created to keep track of cars that can be used in our events, however the unused (new) mods tracking was given up at some point as it was increasingly difficult to follow them. In case RTFR XL winner wants to select and is not sure to which car class it belongs, simply ask for feedback.

Both events have been entered into lfs.net racing calendar, where the combos will be updated as soon as possible - the currently set "XFG at BL1" is simply a placeholder. Info about each event will be posted in this forum subsection as it was always done previously in the information threads.

For past 2 years RTFR and RTFR XL were honored by having a great promotion through livestream by the best broadcasting company around LFS - Sim Broadcasts. With sponsors support, the broadcasting will continue also for 2023,giving a great chance for people not in race to follow the action live and to racers in the race - relive the action from the spectators view. SB.tv will broadcast by availability all races that are part of standings, taking a break in summer when the 3 non-championship races will be held.

Additionally you can visit SimBroadcasts.tv for their full streaming schedule and contact,or their lfs.net forum thread for local updates.

Last year in the annual crashfest once again there were left plenty of wrecked cars lying around, but few best survived to battle out for event win to become the champion of the 12th This is Crashmaaas !!! This year the attendance "shrunk" to 44 drivers, but just because most of the attendees kept the connection alive - only one driver left after setting laptime in qualifying, leaving his name unused in his heat. A total of 3 previous winners attended, including both 2-time champions, but only one of them made to final, without reaching the finish though.

Being fast is surely an advantage if you get in safe distance to pull away from competition. This year 6 of best 10 qualifyers made into final, but the polesitter was taken out after completing half of the Last chance run. However his majesty the defending 2-time champion Meaddie obviously had a blinking neon arrow over his car after all the pre-event talks,so he was a huge target for the "peasants" masses - he finished 5th in his quarterfinal heat and just 13th in his relegation run, retiring early frome the battle and laying down his crown.

With 2 champions not reaching the final and the 3rd one being taken out with 4 laps to go,it was 100% clear there will be a new addition to the glorious list of champions - the 10th one! Twincam is the 1st driver from B2R team to reach this glory, his way to it however wasn't that easy. The irishman qualified 23rd and was drawn into only 6-driver QF heat (due to non-attendance of Atian),where he finished 2nd behind driver who set the fastest laptime of the evening A.Laipnieks, collecting his SF ticket right away. The semifinal wasn't that successful as he finished just 3rd,being pushed to the nailbiting Last chance run. With all the physical battles he was a bit lucky to snach the last 4th final ticket from the LCR,meaning he will be standing alone on the 4th row for the final. His last to first mission succeeded with huge help of his teammate - Twincam finished the final run with rather little amount of car damage to become the 10th winner of this traditional event, being 2nd hailing from British Isles.

A countryman of 1st three event champions finished 2nd this year - A.Rozītis had to go longest way possible to reach runner up position. He qualified 2 positions behind the new champion, finished dead last in his quarterfinal heat, but won his relegation run to reach semifinal. In his semifinal heat he got too involved in battles, being relegated out of track boudries,so he also had to battle for ticket in the last chance run, where he finished 3rd,less than 2 seconds ahead of the new champion. The 3rd place finisher however never saw a single relegation run - E.Blixt used andvantage of his pace as he qualified 4th and won both his quarter and semifinal heats. Maybe it was lack of battle practice, which caused the swede being held up by backmarker, eventually losing fight and also leading position which he held for 12 laps, still he rescued at least a podium finish.

It was planned to make a bit simpler layout for the Bonus run this year, however seems like the last jump was not properly tested as it caused way more retirements than most skilled wreckers. Incredibly how many fell for the wrong direction arrows - lack of experience made them an easy victim for the little organizer's prank. Also the good old "minefield" (tyre stacks, where some have hidden pillars) caused plenty of havoc, but eventually the remaining drivers got used to the track and started the exhausing survival, most of them with highly damaged cars. The joker of the Final run Upsas was on top of the game in this chaos, leading the last 8 laps to finish 1st in the bonus run. Only 4 drivers managed to complete all 20 laps.

There were few problems this year - the new button clutch app proved to have an imperfection,as it does not allow to grid up drivers in gridding screen (since the car isn't actually on track,it cannot check settings). Also the Airio managed to hang up when many drivers simultaniously found out about info available in !opt menu (it's hosted on a very basic machine, probably a combination of being remote and being slow caused the hang) and the event organizer messed up count of drivers, promising top4 being promoted from each relegation run, which was one more than actually available - 2 drivers were dissapointed that their secured semifinal ticket was actually invalid. But at the end of the day the event produced plenty of fun and drama as it supposed to be,and all of that was visible live on broadcast, thanks to the SimBroadcasts.tv effort - the usual crashing motivator and previous champion Pete was substituted by Jonathan and Miika in the virtual commentary booth. You can rewatch the action in the Youtube link few posts above if you already have not.

This year in the Rony's Tuesday's Crashmas Race on tuesday the 26th december - there will be an event using XRG on the small Fern Bay Bullring, featuring many races to qualify themselves for final, which will decide who will become the winner of 13th annual X-mas derby "This is Crashmaaas !!!" Aditionally a new idea has been born (and probably used if not forgotten),between final and bonus run there will be a new race introduced - the Battle Royale! The idea of it is to set up all attending event champions (including a new one) against each other to battle out for the pride of being best in actual head to head battle.

Bugs don't fix themselves and I had no updates of anything. I wonder if that had to do with some event infos/logos that aren't in list anymore.

(unserious note - no more Crashmas in event list,no more crashes of LFS Tilt )

Quote :- New vehicle categories such has Muscle Cars, actual Rally Cars (with point to point rally tracks of course), Trucks, and the list could go on

Please check the mods section - the list is slowly filling up with many different vehicles already. It will take some time to have quality cars in each category, but community guys are surely working on it.
Quote :- Weather so we could face more challenges like visibility being limited, road conditions like aquaplaning

Devs are currently working on graphics update, which will bring real time lighting with changing conditions (day-night),that will replace current simple pre-baked lighting. Let them finish that first and see what's coming in future, but that's surely a step towards changing weather conditions, including rain and realistic wind.
Quote :- Driver suits could have the same treatment like liveries and helmets

True, that would be a nice addition, wondering why it wasn't done already before, should not be too much work compared to more complex updates coming in future.
Quote :- Driver animations is not exactly a problem, but, could the feet and shifting animation be present by option?

That would be problematic as software does not know when you will shift! You could program that driver animation would put hand on shifter when closing to shift point, but how would the software know when you plan to stretch as you're closing to turn already or if you would short shift. Reacting on already done shift would but just too late and unrealistic. So I don't see a way to show correct shifting. Shrug
Quote :- Pre made AI (Having already AI drivers present in game besides creating ours)

Huh? What do you mean? Names? I'm sure that would be the lowest priority update anyway as AI is just a practice buddy for casual offline training,as online mode is the focus of this sim.

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2023
Round 2

Monday,2nd January
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

For the 12th year in row the very first league's raceday of the year brings AWS racers to South City for the NewYear City Challenge. It has been run mostly with FXR,but for 2 races the slower RB4 took over the duty of racing in South City. This year it's again a GTR car,but a different one - the compact PZG GTR,which is made on base of a simple 3 door hatchback. Similar to our well known XFR,this car is also very light, bringing the scale just a tick over 900 kilograms, but with all wheel drive system it's deffinitelly much quicker out of the turns, while the short wheelbase makes it very agile also entering turns and aerodynamic downforce will help a lot through faster turns, making the car just couple of seconds slower than LFS GTR class despite it's power of "just" 355 horsepower.

After round one there are just few clues about tendencies in terms of championship, but everything can change in the remaining 7 rounds as the season is quite long compared to most. Everyone can still join AWS and make a bid for the champions title,as drivers in 1st round did not gain that much advantage to run away from everyone. However current trends show that if will be unlikelly for anyone else challenge current leaders for Nations cup.

Round info:
Track: South City City Long (SO4)
Laps: 27 (109km)
Car: PZGG (configuration "Police" is not allowed to be used)
Previous winners : YES V. Laguckas (2022; 2019 & 2017 / FXR), S1DUS*Botsi (2021 & 2020 / FXR), B2マ FasT (2018 / RB4), A.Valta (2016 / RB4), CoRe A.Laipnieks (2015 / FXR), 22 S.Jurvansuu (2014 / FXR), CoRe V.Pitkänen (2013 / FXR), spdoFade (2012 / FXR)

Server is now password protected, password is in 1st post right under the section everyone should be familiar with - rules!

Please DO NOT post server info in random places without leading info to this thread - otherwise too many people join who have absolutely no clue what's this event is about and what is it's format! (and leave after setting qualifying time, thus taking away chance to race from those who want to race)

Quote from nikopdr :You can stack the current armcos but it would take 3 object spots for 1 "full object"

And it does not level itself with road surface like a single armco does as you can merge 3 in one only when raising or lowering.
