A month later than last year, the most challenging RGE event returned with a very colorful field - a total of 14 different cars were represented in the 21 cars big grid. From the choice of 39 cars,20 were selected in 31 entries. One of the entries was not complete,7 did not arrive for the event,2 did not complete a single timed lap during qualifying. The heaviest car was 2.5 times heavier than the lightest and engine power ranged from 168 to 404 horsepower. And yet cars seemed to be balanced well enough to have 6 different models in top6 of final results, while in top16 only 2 models had multiple entries. With 4 cars on grid the lightweight mid-engine Acosta Starlin was the most popular car, while the LFS's home grown XRT was 2nd most popular with 3 cars on the grid.
With this variety also the previous tradition of 3 different cars on the podium was repeated - the Team S1dus entry was dominating the event with their all wheel drive RB4. The only multidriver entry this year never had the sligtest challenge from competition as they set an almost 13 seconds faster laptime than the competition in qualifying, while they were charging away from the field very fast, leading every single of 21 laps to finish with safe 4.5 minutes gap from 2nd place, which effectively is about half a lap gap. Both of the drivers were entered also in the 1st edition of the event in 2020 just in seperate entries, where Litti with the same RB4 finished 2nd just 4.5 seconds behind winning team, while Gábor qualified 18th using XRT,but did not start.
Their teammate Unite entered this event for the first time under name Saab and finished 2nd,repeating RAC's success from last year. Despite 2 pitstops he finished just 2 seconds ahead of closest rival Atmaca, run by Onur with FXO - the winning car of 2020 was not entered last year, but returned on podium right on return. Best of the non-standard LFS cars finished 4th,unsurprisingly it was the most popular car in the event - Acosta Starlin, run by FU Racing and their driver Nosle. Last year's winner Ferat Motors finished 5th,Michal was running XRT for the 3rd year in row.
Seems like the decision to extend the track was not really popular with the drivers, while the addition of mod cars was the real boost to event's popularity this year, resulting in biggest grid in event's short 3 years history. Regarding future plans - we'll check the situation next year to decide if we're ready to extend the distance or run same 300 kilometers again, while the track might get few twistier sections removed to give it a little more speed. Of course with like 10 months time for preperation we'll have plenty of new cars available for selection for next edition and if we're lucky, maybe even with new graphics/lighting to fulfill the original wish to start the event on late afternoon and finish under sunset.
Race Green Events thanks all drivers for participation and guys behind the scenes for their input and efforts - Maciek,Deko and modders. As always everyone is welcome to share their experience from the event, either in form of text, pictures or videos! Also (even if that rarely happens) - we're awaiting winner's speach!
