Round 2

Sunday,7th January
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

3 weeks holidays break and AWS is back for round 2 of the 2024 series. And back with big bang - with the most powerful car in it's 13 year history as the sedan based on late 80ies Trans Am series car features a inline 5-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 545 horsepower. But be warned - it has a lot of power, however it does not have as much downforce as one might expect from car this powerful! The 4 kilometer long Couth City's config has all the challenges the temporary urban course can offer - fast turns, tricky combinations and even a tight hairpin with downhill braking.

First drawings of the championship were drawn in the first round, but nothing is secured yet as 6 more rounds are up ahead. 2 previous AWS champions are in the top3 of standings, now it's time for all others to start challenge them!

Round info:
Track: South City City Long Rev. (SO4R)
Laps: 26 (105km)
Car: ADDA 200 ANS TRAM
Previous winners : YES V.Lakūnas (2023 - PZGG / 2022; 2019 & 2017 - FXR), S1DUS*Botsi (2021 & 2020 - FXR), B2マ FasT (2018 - RB4), A.Valta (2016 - RB4), CoRe A.Laipnieks (2015 - FXR), 22 S.Jurvansuu (2014 - FXR), CoRe V.Pitkänen (2013 - FXR), spdoFade (2012 - FXR)

Server info and password will be PM'ed during sunday (european time) to all entrants, until then server remains publically accessible:

Hello,racers!

The year 2024 has started and it's time to announce plans for RTFR and RTFR XL! The 1st race of the year is already finished, but the actual scored standings season is set to begin in 16th january with RTFR XL starting week later. The best through these scored seasons again receive money prizes, once again kindly sponsored by World Class Lions team. Full details can be found in Sponsorship document.

For season standings the same points system will be used as in the evergoing rating system - for full details hower mousepointer over rating sheet's green colored title bar, here are the links to both spreadsheets: RTFR and RTFR XL.

What stays same and what changes:

* RTFR's year will be split into 2 seasons again, this year each will consist of 12 races. Season 1 will start on 16th january with 324th RTFR and finish on 18th june with 335th RTFR. The 336th RTFR will be an off-season event, but the 337th RTFR will start the season 2 on 16th july which will end on 17th december, where 348th RTFR will be the season finale and also the last RTFR race of the year as we will not be hosting races on either 24th or 31st december. As always combos will be selected with same method where one race is using cars with street tyres, next with slick tyres and so on. As the user created cars are increasing in quality, they will be used more, however we will stick also to our classic LFS cars, which will be used at least in 5 rounds out of 12.

* The prize format for RTFR XL has slight changes, therefor the scoring has also altered - now all 12 season rounds will count towards standings (in 2 seasons the 2 lowest scores were dropped). Now the prize money amount will be affected by scored points count with some bonuses for overall standings positions. There have been also alterations how combos can be selected - first noone will be allowed to select combo for 2 races in row and also one driver's selections are now limited to 2 per calendar year, that guarantees at least 6 different drivers per year who will be eligible to select next combo. Another minor change is that car used in a race will be locked out for next 5 races (4 before this year),class lockout stays the same - 2 next races, while mods will be allowed to be selected max 2 races in row, forcing LFS standard cars to be used at least in each 3rd RTFR XL race. Full details on combo selection can be read in RTFR main info thread on this same forum section.

* Points system stays the same - each event has it's own system, both however are very similar. RTFR keeps the base of 20 points for winner based on 20 (or less) starters, where each 3 starters more than 20 adds 1 point to winner's gain. RTFR XL has additional attendance based base score increasement, which 2022 reached the same 20 points for winner - if 5 races in row have more or less attendees in race than current base score,it get's increased or decreased by 1. Not affecting the yearly standings which leads to money prizes is the ever going rating, which puts up on top of the table most successful racers in last 15 races in RTFR and last 12 races in RTFR XL. In both of those ratings the latest 2/3 of races count fully, but the oldest 1/3 of scores are halved.

Both events have been entered into lfs.net racing calendar, where the combos will be updated as soon as possible - the currently set "XFG at BL1" is simply a placeholder. Info about each event will be posted in this forum subsection as it was always done previously in the information threads.

For past 3 years RTFR and RTFR XL were honored by having a great promotion through livestream by the best broadcasting company around LFS - Sim Broadcasts. With sponsors support, the broadcasting will continue also for 2024,giving a great chance for people not in race to follow the action live and to racers in the race - relive the action from the spectators view. SB.tv will broadcast by availability all races that are part of standings, taking a break in summer when the non-championship race will be held.

Additionally you can visit SimBroadcasts.tv for their full streaming schedule and contact,or their lfs.net forum thread for local updates.

Since I broke one of YOUR personal forum conduct rules, why don't you write a proper ruleset for forum use,so simple people like me don't make such mistakes and your blood pressure does not raise due such awful "hysterics".

You can use some external insim application if all you want is to see the speed in digital format. Try either of these:

Quote from BeNoM :Man this forum keeps on coming up with new ways to dumbfound me...

With that logic, the millions of kids worldwide who played GTA or Call of Duty should be shooting everyone they see in the streets? Get over yourself lol

Not everyone - most people have healty perception and can tell apart game and real world. However there will be always few black sheep who will think "hey,I was racing through flowing traffic in a simulator and nothing happened,I'm sure I can do that also in real life." But sure, let's forget about these black sheep and make shit out of one of the best racing sims by completelly turning it into some cruising game!

First - learn english to properly understand what's written and how it's meant.
Second - I would still not go that far to promote street racing on actual traffic as unmature minds may try that in real life which might end with bunch of [...] coming at you head on with high speeds.

Race statistics / RTFR .mpr folder / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated later this week)

The 14th year of RTFR started with it's first ever race in the new, normally empty Layout Square. RGE however filled it with around 2000 mostly concrete objects to create a city street course inspired racetrack, where 2 whole kilometer long straights were connecting 2 different slow speed turns sections. Some complained about the track, some liked it and some were just happy not to race the 600 horsepower VERL car here like it was done 3 months ago, instead the much more simple 150 horsepower french car inspired hatchback was used. During the race there was an interesting trend - most of the drivers were motivated by direct competition on track and improved their qualifying PBs,some of them many times.

The race winner however was not able to improve his track record, but at least he matched it and what's more important - he led every single meter of the race to score his 20th RTFR race win with his 100th RTFR race finish, while from this race he also added 18th pole position,14th fastest lap of the race and 85th top5 finish to his stats. For Lorenzo this was the best RTFR ever - in qualifying he set the 2nd fastest time, improving his previous best by a single position, while the 2nd place finish in the race was improvement by 2,this was the italian's 3rd top5 finish. After a big struggle with competitor,Thehemuli was able to upgrade his 4th place in qualifying to 3rd in race results, scoring his 7th top5 finish overall and also 2nd in row. J.Pichard was the one who lost the struggle and had to settle for 4th position, which is his 16th top5 finish. Top5 was closed by 2nd RGA member in it - Falcon scored his 40th top5 finish.

The racing from RGE this week is not over yet - on sunday AWS will return to action with it's 2nd round of the season, where a wild 80ies car will be run in South City. More info and signups as always in AWS forum section. Next week there will be no RTFR of any kind, but we have something in our mind to fill the day with some action - stay tuned for info on the weekend! RTFR will resume in 2 weeks, when it's planned to start the 2024 Season 1 of standings based competition. Further details to be posted soon! The RTFR server however will be set up with combo for laptime testing for the upcoming RTFR XL - the standard LFS's BF1 will be run on a custom Aston configuration known under name Classic (A32),run in reversed direction.

* PENALTIES :
JAM jesse & Ertti Eräreikä - receives a DISQUALIFICATION from event results for unsportsmanlike conduct of gaining unfair advantage over others by using 2 accounts for one user.

- - - - - - - - - -

For the past 3 years the event attendance somewhat stabilized as it was simply reaching server limits - 44-46 drivers were attending. However this year the server limit was raised, allowing more users to join server, thus beating the all time attendance record by 18. There were 63 results in qualifying, however research found evidence of just 62 persons being connected, resulting in one of the rare disqualifications... 4 previous champions attended, including the only back-to-back double champion, however none of them made into semifinal, meaning there will be a new one added to the long list.

Once again pure pace was important on the way to better results - all of the top3 finishers in event results qualified in top10,with another 3 top10 qualifyers being in the final, the lowest qualifyer in final set the 26th fastest laptime. However some tactical skills and plenty of luck is also required as the quarterfinal runs had way more drivers in them as usually expected, resulting 2 top10 qualifyers being eliminated before reaching semifinal.

Without a single champion in the semifinals list, the intrigue was high who will become the 11th different This is Crashmaaas !!! champion. As the dethroned defending champion mentioned - the crown stayed at "home" as his teammate was the one to cross finish line of the 20 lap finale first. The lithuanian B2R member Upsas qualified 6th and in the quarterfinal heat 6 he crossed the finish line first in solitude, advancing himself to semifinal directly. The early phase of his semifinal run was more difficult as he had to really fight through, however he still finished in the final ticket gaining 2nd place with a big advantage, meaning he'll start the deciding heat from 2nd row. The final started with usual shunts and hits, eventually Upsas worked up his way to lead, spending there 10 laps, however he caught back of the field and the way through it cost him lead for 3 laps, but the lithuanian fought back and return to the top of the field for last 4 laps to finish 1st just over a second ahead of competition. With this Upsas is the 11th different event champion and 2nd lithuanian.

Best of the rest was a seasoned rallycrosser and banger racer Joukeheddema from Netherlands. He was the one who broke winner's leading run temporary to lead 4 laps in the final, but lost the battle and had to chase the leader to finish 2nd. That must have been a dissapointment for him as it was the 1st heat he did not won - he went through both quarterfinal and semifinal heats with at least 3 seconds big gaps. The bottom step of the podium was taken by latvian A.Laipnieks, who set the fastest laptime in final, which was also the fastest laptime in all heats. Also he never saw a single relegation run as he won his quarterfinal heat, finishing 2nd in the semifinal, however the latter one had a bit close finish. The polesitter of final and early 2 laps leader Unite lost the lead in battles and was escorted out of track with 6 laps to go.

The brand new run "Battle Royale" featured 3 previous event winners (one left before the run) and the new one. Unfortunatelly the battle started with some pushing and bumping until the hairpin, where the only 2-time winner in the heat was taken out of track, then all 3 remaining drivers were seperated by a gap, making a 5 laps long parade run for remaining 3 drivers - the 3rd positioned driver slowed down to try to create some action by hitting leader, but Upsas' win was not affected and he took also the glory of this one. But the 3rd place finisher was not disqualified for braking the "no intentional slowdown" rule only because the finishing order was not affected.

The weirdly stacked grid for bonus run caused a huge traffic jam with only few lucky ones being able to run away quickly. One of them was the organizer, who was the only one to know the way around all the booty traps, but after leading the first 11 laps,he got involved into some battles and ended up rolling his car, leaving the fight for win wide open to few other high running survivers. Eventually the competitive chaos was won by Jamin, who gained the race lead with 3 laps to go and finished the intense survival carnage with 5 seconds gap to the brand new main event winner.

With more users being able to connect, more drivers were set up in the quarterfinal heats, increasing the luck part required to advance to next level. This means the system requires a little change - current idea is to add another level of runs (preliminary heats),where the (probably 20) best qualifyers won't take part advancing directly to quarterfinal, while rest have to fight through short preliminary heats to earn remaining 22 or 28 tickets to quarter final. Rest of the event course should stay the same. This will make more heats, more action, more crashing and also more more chances to advance for the better drivers. We still have about 11 months time to sort out all the details. Another detail what caused attention is qualifying, where more strict ruling on tyre warming will be added in future.

2024 version of This is Crashmaaas !!! will fall in the thursday,so the usual "GTi Thursday" will be limited to use of XRG in a very short unpaved bullring with most of the racing rules removed. So don't forget the date to return to this event so we can find out if 2024 will bring the 12th different winner,3rd different double winner or first ever tripple winner! Since the new winner was not present in teamspeak channel to provide interview with broadcasters, maybe we can have written winner's speach here?

Max cars per guest means how many cars from single user can be added (3 means user himself and 2 AI). If you don't want users to add AI,keep that at 1!
Max connections are dependant from the slot count you have ordered in hosting.

True - that could be a great tribute to your friend as he seemed to be a fan of it. Also since rear car's name is out of question (unless you have a chance to get licence from manufacturer),you might even name the car after him as a further tribute.
Alternativelly maybe you can give over some well skilled modder (who does 3D modelling himself) to finish your work if you're really not motivated to carry on.

Yea - 150hp is huge amount of power, which has to be tamed with electronics as only high tier drivers can control that with huge effort. Tilt

The server upgrade to more slots resulted into more participants, setting a new all time record of 63! This also extended the event and also made the quarterfinal runs somewhat more...random... Still that's how this event works - besides pace and derby tactics you also need some luck. Since all 4 attending previous champions run out of the last one,we have a new champion added to the glorious list! Who? To receive answer either check replays or wait for official results!
All session replays attached.

Edit: The server will stay online until sunday with 5 laps on bonus run layout and all cars (including mods) allowed - feel free to join and invite friends for some crashing!

Luckily I remembered to add a new run to the schedule, which came into mind last year - the Battle Royale!
Quote :Battle Royale:
This run is for This is Crashmaaas !!! overall winners only! All the past event winners (including the new one) are set in the short 6 laps exhibition battle to sort out between themselves who is the best without any outside influence! Starting order - random, because the real champion does not care about grid position!

This new heat will take place between final and bonus run - let's hope for proper champions action!

Server is now password protected, password is in 1st post right under the section everyone should be familiar with - rules!

Please DO NOT post server info in random places without leading info to this thread - otherwise too many people join who have absolutely no clue what's this event is about and what is it's format! (and leave after setting qualifying time, thus taking away chance to race from those who want to race)

LFS community in a nutshell:

Many ask to open LFS for modding and even make it open source,so people can improve it to make it much better.

Reality - opening LFS to car mods results in tons of junk mods with unrealistic values, many try to sneak in ripped 3D models from other games, while only a handful people do the modelling themselves, not all of them in good quality. After 2 years we have some good cars in the list, but most are useless for proper racing. As much as I would like to race in many other different tracks,I have to admit that I'm affraid from the mess what would be caused by track editor release...

Other reality - Airio has been abandoned by it's creator since 2011/12(?),still being used as best serverside stats add-on to LFS despite being outdated in many areas, there is still noone who has created anything better. Sorry,LFSLapper creators,I'm meaning insim add-on that can be configured also by narrow foreheads like me. Razz

So,where are the programmers, who would take the glorious work to make newer/better/more modern version of Airio? Or where are the programmers, who can create something similar to LFSLazy? (yes,I know, the french guys have something similar, but somehow people still come back this this one and expect to be revived)

LFS devs with their limited manpower and worktime have provided us a great racing simulator with insim protocol for community to create all the needed addons,if there is something missing, then it's the community's effort to make those.

(This was just a long version of Number's "Why dont you program it yourself")
