After racing many high power mod cars,the car that used to be fastest aids free car in LFS might seem a bit 2nd tiered now,but it still did pose plenty of challenge for many this tuesday in Rockingham. It was only the 2nd FO8's visit to Rockingham in RTFR,but this exact combo was already known for many drivers - it was part of V8 Racing League back in 2017 and more recently run in other series on a tuesday. Since this car has it's history in VERL,it's interesting that a total of 7 VERL race winners were present in this race,including 3 series champions (one however won the title with other car than FO8). 24 drivers qualified for this race,setting a number below this season's average - a proof that the combo was quite difficult,another proof of that is that in the rather short 30 minutes race,almost half of the field were lapped on a circuit with laptime just above 1 minute.
For the last FO8 VERL champion Gábor this race turned out to be joining and picking up achievements as he did not have real competition this week. Being a defending 3-time RTFR FO8 race winner,he was the main favourite to score the 4th one in row,tying Botsi's 4 win total count in races with FO8. That was not the only Botsi's record Gábor tied this week - his 34th RTFR pole position ties the all time most also in this category. Additionally it was Gábor's 38th race win,34th fastest lap of the race and 69th top5 finish. Also the race for 2nd position was rather short and single sided - A.Valta was the unchallenged runner up of this race,2nd place finish is 8th top5 finish for the current season standings leader and 28th in total. After a break of just over 1.5 years,the slowest LFS standard car made it's return to RTFR XL and that for the 7th time in event,putting the car in sole 2nd position in most used cars chart. The track however made it's debut - it's the 1st of all short South City configs to be used in this event and despite it's 2 kilometer lap length,it presented a challenge every lap as the downhill entry to the tricky chicane complicated things,especially if running in bunch.
This was one of the situations,where combo selector used his choice to be on top of the game in the race day. Gábor won the previous race and kept the performance practically unchallenged also in this one - even if the gap of 0.12s does not sound big for a qualifying lap,for the short lap it's still very decisive and Gábor scored his 14th RTFR XL pole position. During the first lap he saw closest rival right beside him,but eventually dropped him and kept his focus through all 73 laps he led to score his 12th RTFR XL race win,tying all time most,previously set by R.Kardol. Having more pole positions,the success of yesterday puts the hungarian on top of all time success ranking,where he added also the 13th fastest lap of the race to his stats,breaking into sole leading position in this chart,22nd top5 finish besides all this might sound as a small achievement. With 18 seconds gap to winner,best of the rest was previous success ranking leader R.Kardol,who still leads the most top5 finishes chart - his 2nd place finish yesterday was the 51st one of those. The late night driver from Singapore improved his both best results by a position in this race - Sean was 2nd in qualifying,but lost a position during the race to finish 3rd,scoring his 4th top5 finish. Current rating and standings leader Unite joined late in qualifying,setting rather low result in session,but rallied through field to challenge for 3rd position late in the race,but unsuccessfully and he had to settle for 4th place finish,which is his 30th top5 finish. The 5th place driver of the day was Thehemuli,who was in this position in both sessions - that's 4th top5 finish for him in this year,5th overall.
* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
No driver has been able to set more than 3 winning streaks in RTFR XL until this race - with 2nd win in row,Gábor started his 4th winning streak. In 4 weeks he has a chance to extend the current one to 3 wins,which would tie Botsi's record of most 3 or more race win streaks.
* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
There's no recorded situation where this honor was shared between 2 drivers - two finns had a pitstop time of 10.11 seconds,so Unite and Thehemuli are co-clock pitters in this race. Interestingly another finn managed a perfect 10.00,however just with a 2nd try (where he needed only 8.7 seconds to avoid penalty).
* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
With low performance in qualifying and 4th place finish,there are no doubts about field rusher this time - Unite had a gain of 12 positions between start and finish,while 2nd best progress was just 1/3 of his.

Pitting rules:
Race requires a minimum time spent in pitstall of 10 seconds. That can be done either with single pitstop or sum of multiple pitstops. Driver who has spent less time will receive penalty time added to his finish time,which will be calculated by tripling the missing time to complete neccesary minimum time and adding additional 5 seconds. Drivers failing to pit at all will receive 1 minute penalty added to finish time (10s*3 + additional 30s).

Thehemuli enters the turn with full throttle without a chance to keep car on inside lane with 2 cars on the outside - this results in contact,that could be significantly less affecting with no throttle input.

This was the 2nd road tyres race in row with rather slow car,which once again turned into pack racing in early stages of the race,with many 3 and even 4 wide situations all over the track,but besides few incidents,nothing more that "rubbing is racing" happened. Later in the race positions on track changed more for tyre temperature reasons - some drivers were able to keep them better in control than others as this car features quite narrow rubber surface to road,which was well loaded with over 1 ton of car's weight.
The 2nd road tyre car race in row was won by brazilian TJ,who late in qualifying session set the fastest lap,but lost it moments later,earning the outside position of front row. But his start was significantly better than polesitter's and after few battles in early laps,he established his race lead with an increasing gap to competition,crossing the finish line first to score his 3rd win in this season and 4th win overall,setting also fastest lap of the race,which is his 3rd. TJ scored his 12th top5 finish and led all 15 laps in this race,which is 5 more than in his previous 3 racewins together. Kyr1l was the fastest through most of the qualifying session,but was demoted to 3rd late in qualifying - that's still 7 positions better than his previous best qualifying result out of 4 tries. In the race he tried to challenge the leader few times,but eventually had to concede,finishing 2nd 6 seconds apart from race winner,improving his only previous finishing result by 18 positions. Also Dod1slaw improved his previous best results by some margin - his 6th place in qualifying was 3 positions improvement,during the race he progressed up to 3rd position in finish to reach 4 positions improvement for his best finishing result. Arska beat the best result very late in qualifying and scored his 3rd pole position in RTFR,but with high 1st gear saw competition flash by at start,losing positions not only on start but also later in race - 4th position for the finn is a repeat of his season best result and 33rd top5 finish in total. The winner of previous race R.Kardol qualified 5th and had to pass many cars to regain that position in finish as he managed to get involved in few incidents early on,still increasing the all time leading top5 count to 96.

Next week RTFR XL will return after 6 weeks break and it will be another front wheel drive car to race - LFS's slowest standard car UF1 will be run South City's shortest configuration that uses the default start/finish straight - the 2 kilometer Classic configuration will be run in reversed direction,with laptimes just above 1 minute,it will be a 73 laps race to have the usual 75 minutes RTFR XL race. Full information will be posted tomorrow. Normal RTFR version will return in 2 weeks with one of the faster cars - some hints about next combo as always can be heard when watching stream of previous race.

VERL 2024 final standings
The 2024 season celebrated the 10 years of league's existance,however there was no celebration mood for the organizing body - the best word to describe the season is flop. Season started with 13 drivers attending round one,setting up an interesting race with highs and lows,also round 2 gathered up decent number of drivers to provide some excitement,but in 2nd half of the season just handful drivers arrived to drive the 2 half distance races,where 2 late joiners rescued season finale to be entered in league's history as lowest attended race ever. 19 signups alone describes the situation - that's 8 less than previous lowest number of 27 (which coincidentally is also all time highest attendance in a single round),set 2 years ago,15 of them actually participated,which is 4 less than 2 years ago. This resulted in 8.5 drivers per round,which is 2 less than last year and almost 6 less than all time average attendance. Still the few racers were ready to tackle the competition and have some fun with challenging car over challenging courses to find out the best between attending drivers,pushing the intrigue of drivers championship winner until last laps.
VERL 2024 Drivers Champion: ZFRL•Thehemuli
When looking back at Thehemuli's results,you can see constant progress - he made his debut in VERL in 2021,where he finished 7th in standings,year later he was 3rd and last season - 2nd. So it was quite logical to end up 1st this season allthough he would probably admit himself - due lack of competition. The finn finished 3rd in season opener,had to settle for 5th place in the longest and most difficult round of the season,but won the remaining 2 rounds to outscore early leader of season. Thehemuli added to his achievements his first 2 wins (had 2nd place finish as previous best),his 1st pole position,his 2nd and 3rd fastest laps of the race and raised his top5 total to 13.
Zesty started the season with 2 wins,which actually made a streak of 3 wins as he won final round of last season,however he never arrived in 2nd half of the season,effectivelly giving up his drivers title and finish 2nd in standings with 3 points gap to leader. The 2 wins makes him a 4-time race winner in VERL,while he also added a pole position to make a total of 3 and 2 fastest laps to have 4 of those. Rony finished 3rd in standings losing to 2nd place only on tiebreaker - he started the season with 5th place finish and finished as runner up in remaining 3 rounds,taking pole position in season finale which is his first in VERL. The top5 finish count was increased to 25 - 3rd place in standings is a repeat of previous season,a position lower than result of VERL's inagural season and 4th overall podium.
VERL 2024 Rookie of the Year: - (not awarded)
According to rules,the award is presented if at least 2 drivers with rookie status finishes at least one race - that was not the case this season as just a sole rookie finished a race (2 actually),so he can be still called as best rookie,but does not receive an actual title. The Czech driver Pedro Dandy finished 8th and 6th in season's first half,but just like most did not attend the 2nd half,ending up 8th in overall standings - 1 position ahead of defending drivers champion.
VERL 2024 Teams Champions: Team S1DUS
With 2 wins and a 2nd place finish,the champions of 2020 and 2021 started the season very strong,taking a commanding lead in the championship standings - that was actually enough to hold the lead until end of season despite not scoring a single point later with huge help of half distance for half points rule. That's a big improvement compared to 8th position the team took last season.
The defending 2-time teams champions RGA came 2 point short (tying would not be enough as they would lose on tiebreaker) to title defence and had to settle for 2nd place in standings despite 6 top5 finishes through the season. The drivers champion's team Zafiralis finished 3rd in standings almost with sole effort of the champion - rest of the team helped only with 10% of their points score. The finnish based team lost a position compared to last season.
VERL 2024 Nations Cup winners: Finland
No surprises in nations cup - Finland still keeps the ground as being the best nation in VERL as their drivers scored already 5th VERL drivers champions title. This year the finns scored 2 race wins (both by the champion) and a total of 9 top5 finishes and led standings from 1st round unchallenged. This is Finland's nations cup for the 5th year in row and 9th time in total.
The other 2 positions on nations podium were taken by nations with a single driver,both also represented on drivers championship podium in same order - Malaysia is 2nd thanks to Zesty's 2 wins and Latvia is 3rd with Rony's 3 2nd place finishes. Malaysia climbed up 2 positions in standings compared to last season,Latvia repeated same result.
Lack of interest in this competition of course raises plenty of questions marks over future of the 10 years old league. It was started 2015 as sort of replacement of LFSCART by NDR,which was previously the longest running LFS league with the fastest aids free LFS car Formula V8. It was always meant as high level league demanding plenty of skills from drivers,that's why we upgraded to the 650 horsepower car when the cars mods were available,throttling down the power on 2nd season with new car to 600 horsepower,but with this also the attendance went down - 15.3 drivers per round in FO8 era versus 10.2 in the new turbo era. This means Race Green Events will take some consideration how or if the new season will take place in 2025 - feel free to post your input of thoughts here!

Unfortunatelly also the final round of the season saw a very low attendance - just 5 drivers joined and that excluded standings leader,who effectivelly gave up his title away as even with half points rule 2 drivers were still in striking distance with a "simple" task - winning the race. 3 drivers qualified,another 2 were able to join as they were in top10 of championship standings (one very late just to mark himself as started),so it was a "quatrel" for win,which reduced to "triel" very soon.
Thehemuli allowed to beat himself in qualifying,taking only the 2nd position on grid,but with different downforce settings alone he was able to take over the lead in long run to 1st turn - he never gave up in and constantly run away from competition to score his 2nd VERL race win,beating also the track record set last season. Rony raised his hopes for title by being the fastest in qualifying,scoring his 1st ever VERL pole position,but could not keep up with pace of his main rival and had to settle for third 2nd place finish in row. Lorenzo joined late and missed qualifying,however still could find some pace to climb a position to finish 3rd,which is his 1st ever VERL podium finish,beating his previous best race result by one position.

RandomCar 2024 Series final standings
The 2nd season of RGE's car randomizing league has come to an end after 10 rounds and it's time to look back at the season's results. A total of 44 different cars were in the list this season,exceeding number of drivers in any round,however for round 4 a total of 51 drivers were in the draw,so still in theory each car could have been used. But there was a car,who was not used - one that was added right after season half was drawn just once and never run,while another car was drawn 8 times,run in qualifying twice but never stood on grid. 8 different cars crossed the finish line as winners,10 were run in at least 6 rounds to qualify for manufacturers championship. There are no seperate stats which car was drawn most times this year,but in both seasons one car was drawn significantly more times than 2nd best and coincidentally it's the same car that made manufacturers podium in both seasons.
The average attendance dropped by 1.9 compared to last season,as highest attendance number reached 28 drivers in round 4 (5 less than highest number of 2023),but the lowest number did not drop as low as last year - 16 drivers in season finale is still 4 more than lowest attendance in 2023 season's round 8. Competition level however dropped as main candidates for drivers champion title did not show a lot of interest to put some effort and take the glory home - all 3 standings leaders,who shared 7 race wins,did not start in last 2 rounds,letting others pass them in table.
RandomCar 2024 Drivers Champion: RGˆRony
Only 3 drivers attended in all 10 rounds,one of them scored most points during the season and it was the organizer himself. The list of achievements is very short - only a single podium finish,which was a 3rd place finish in double points scoring season finale 1 hour race,but consistancy helped a lot - even if before final round best result was 7th place finish,worst was a sole top10 outside finish in round 3 where he was just one position outside top10. Last season the organizer finished 10th in standings with 5th place finish being best result.
Unite attended 8 rounds and also his most successful race was the season finale which he won,putting himself up to 2nd position in final standings. The finn was runner up in 2 races,and finished 4th in season opener,rest of the results were low top10 finishes with one bad result where he finished 19th. Last season he was 17th in final standings with a sole 2nd place being a good result. Standings leader after 7th round was J.Holmes,who won 4 races and finished 2nd in another 2. But he did not start rounds 8 and 9 and did not even attend final round,letting his standings lead away,ending up just 3rd in final standings. The britton attended just 2 rounds last season,finishing 2nd in his sole started race.
RandomCar 2024 Teams Champions: Born 2 Race
The defending vice-champions run strong this season as they scored the highest points count between teams in 7 of 10 rounds,taking 3 race wins with 2 different drivers. Even if their performance dropped later in season as the 2 drivers being main candidates for drivers title did not race,rest of the team kept scoring good points to keep the team in table lead through whole season as the team scored a total of 17 top5 finishes. The defending champions RGA was the only team that kept themselves within striking distance to leaders,but never could seriously endanger them,finishing this season in 2nd position,scoring just 5 top5 finishes during the season. Good performances later in the season were deciding factor for 3rd position in teams championship for WCL - with win in round 9 they overtook their main rivals Zafiralis and kept the position through final round. Besides win,their best driver scored another top5 finish and it's a 2 positions improvement in table compared to previous season.
RandomCar 2023 Nations Champions: Finland
Finland marks the only successful title defence in RandomCar and this season was very similar to previous one. Once again Lithuania started season very strongly,but dropped their performance late in the season,allowing consistently scoring Finland simply glide by and secore 2nd nations championship in the league. The finns scored a total of 10 top5 finishes,including race wins on last 2 rounds of the season. Lithuanians won 3 races and finished in top5 11 times in their 2nd runners up season. Also 3rd position was taken over late in the season - and that by Poland,who overtook UK. Poland this year scored 3 top5 finishes,each by different driver,last season they finished 6th in the standings.
RandomCar 2024 Manufacturers Champions: XF COUPE TURBO
There was no dominating car this season in the races,however in slower courses one of the prefered vehicles was the light and agile XF Coupe,which was the winning car in round 2,scoring another 4 podium finishes through out the season. Last season the model finished in dissapointing 15th position. In half of the races 2nd place was taken by BZ30 - a remarkable result despite the lack of race wins for the roadster,which is very similar in performance with the TBO class by default and a good improvement from previous season when it finished 12th. The all time most drawn car Talot was 2nd best last season,however despite a race win,they dropped a position between seasons,finishing 3rd in standings,bringing home 3 podium finishes during the season.
Season 3 is in the the minds of planning and there might be some minor improvements for drivers championship to increase competition,but biggest changes will include manufacturers championship as with over 40 cars and less than 30 drivers it's difficult to determine the best car. Otherwise the current format of 9 rounds with 30min races and double points scoring 1 hour race season finale seems like a good option noone opposed,so there are no plans to change that.

Season finale is set to be run in Aston Grand Prix - in the longest standard racetrack in LFS,which measures 8.8 kilometers. The VERL car can do this lap in around 2 minutes and 25 seconds and it requires just 23 laps to complete VERL nominal distance of 200 kilometers,which last year was completed in 56 minutes. Tyre durability probably won't be an issue in this race,unless drivers are too aggressive on tyres,however car should be set up quite universally as the course has high speed straights,fast turns and slow hairpins.
As it should be,in season finale is everything on stake - drivers championship is led by 7 points,so leader cannot allow any big mistakes,especially if main rivals are running on high positions. Also teams championship is undecided,however leading team has a significant advantage. Nations cup might be decided already at signups closure as none of the 2 chasing nations has 2nd driver that at least theoretically would allow to challenge leaders.

RTFR created yet another tricky challenge for the racers - this time in custom track in Fern Bay that uses most of the Gold reversed course,but cuts over through Cadet's part,which leads to the bumpy old straight,creating a jump for the NGT class car. XFR is on the bottom part of RTFR's popularity contest,but with 24 attendants the average number will raise a bit.
The dutchman R.Kardol did not attend previous 8 RTFR races,but returned in top form - he was the fastest in qualifying to score his 20th pole position,losing up the tie for 3rd most. Despite some early lap struggles with fellow front row starter,R.Kardol managed to lead every single lap,keeping the competition at bay later on to cross finish line as race winner for the 23rd time,scoring also his 95th top5 finish. Current standings leader A.Valta was the only proper rival for winner as he was the only other driver to beat 1:03 laptime mark in qualifying and kept the leader within sight for whole race to cross finish line just over 2 seconds behind winner,scoring his 6th top5 finish in row,27th overall. Unite marked himself as owner of fastest lap of the race,which is his 26th already,but had to settle for bottom step of the podium,scoring his 88th top5 finish. Gábor did not put much effort in qualifying,ending up with slowest laptime in his last minute run,but progressed through field to finish in 4th position,which is his 68th top5 finish. Thehemuli found just a single position improvement between start and finish to finish 5th - 15 is his new top5 count.

Next week is the 1st tuesday in many months without planned RGE event,but we might come up with some idea spontaniously,but in 2 weeks RTFR will return with one of the road legal cars - hints about which and where can be heard when watching the stream recording. To make 3 races in row,also the next RTFR XL race,scheduled in 3 weeks,will also run one of the FWD cars - UF1 has been selected to run in South City's Classic configuration in reversed direction (the 6 weeks gap instead usual 4 is intentional to keep each race in different month).

The 1 hour long season finale took place in Blackwood's Historic configuration,which skips the chicane - in reversed direction it means very fast approach to last hairpin with quite bumpy braking zone,which is also not entirely straight. That created some issues for drivers who got cars without ABS,but obviously it was not a deciding factor as 3 cars in top5 were not fitted with this semi-modern braking help while one of helping factors was high top speed over the long back straight. Only half of the 33 drivers attended,recording the lowest number of the season,but non attendees included also the top3 of drivers championship,which caused quite big changes in top of the table.
With a car already having a win this season in the fastest track,Unite had good cards in hand for this race as he could surely use Cammera's high top speed to earn his 2nd pole position,early in the race the finn was able to pull a good distance on competition and led all 44 laps to score his first RandomCar race win. Madjester qualified 3rd with his Talot,but soon jumped into 2nd position in which he spent majority of the race,eventually even reducing gap to leader,setting fastest lap of the race in progress - that's the first RandomCar podium finish for the portugese. Also 3rd place finisher scored his first podium finish in the series - Rony had the Nortz XR2 for the 3rd time and scored his best series result,climbing a single position between start and finish.

Most drawn car of the round was Fraud 040 with 4 draws,however only one of the drivers attended. The most drawn car Talot got another 3 draws for this race,increasing it's lead in the chart - it has been drawn 5 times more compared to 2nd most drawn car BZ30.
Just 2 new best results were made for cars during this round,both scored by drivers of same team - Thehemuli qualified 8th and finished 8th,scoring new best results for Adda AR-Eight,previously scored by his countryman Harri K. (15th position in qualifying,13th in race). Motimoukari received GT-V34 MINE9 (drawn only 4 times,half of those to Sobis) for this race,did not get a good result,but still it was the best for the car - 12th in qualifying and 11th in race,which are significantly better than Sobis' 24th and 19th positions accordingly.

2nd half of the short season had a very low attendance - just 5 drivers were ready to take the challenge of shorter and twistier Westhill configuration,recording the lowest attendance in the series since 2020 season finale in Fern Bay. As always in such case the rule of half distance for half points kicks in,postponing any bigger decisions to final round of the season,especially with non attendance of table leader.
The lack of competition opened up the doors for defending vice champion Thehemuli,who in return had no competition for him in this round. The finn scored his 1st pole position in qualifying by being 2/3 of a second faster than closest rival and run away from chasers during the race,setting one fastest lap after another to cross finish line first for the first time. The 2nd place seemed to be unwanted - both contenders politelly left each other by couple times until the front row starter spun his car. This way Rony was able to clinch the 2nd place finish ahead of his rival of the day Strutter.
Despite not attending,Zesty remains on top of the drivers championship table,however his advantage has shunk to 7 points over closest rival,which now is Thehemuli,Rony is 3rd another point further away. For Zesty a 2nd place finish is enough to guarantee championhip in any scenario,taking one of the bonus points reduces his required finishing position to 3rd. There are still not enough rookies finishing a race,so this competition is still not activated.
Team S1dus completelly missed the round,but still kept the table lead as closest rivals RGA were able to score just 6 points,reducing the gap to 13 points. Zafiralis retook the 3rd position and is now 22 points behind table lead. Finland increased their lead in nations cup standings to 20 points over Malaysia,increasing their chances to repeat success of previous 4 years,Latvia is still 3rd with 9 points gap to 2nd place. Since neither Malaysia and Latvia has 2nd driver,Finland clinches the title with signups closure if there are no new signups for the chasing countries.
Season finale will take place in 2 weeks in track used in last season's opener round - Aston Grand Prix,the longest standard configuration of LFS. The 8.8km circuit needs just 23 laps to complete 200 laps of VERL race,last season the distance was completed in 56 and half minutes.
