My beloved Athlon 3000+ system died a horrible death last night, and I'm going to order a new system over the weekend. Below is what I whipped up from a 30 minute research session at lunch today.
What do all the hardware gurus think? Is it all going to work together? Am I missing anything big that will stop the show? Can I get better components for the investment? The budget is AU$1700.00. Thanks in advance for any input.
CASE Atlas Server Case includes TruePower 2.0 550W Power Supply
HDD SAMSUNG 160GB 7200RPM SATA-II HARD DISK

Monitor Viewsonic 22" VA2226W Value Series Wide-Screen LCD Monitor
Total Cost - Approx AU$1600.00
-EDIT- My priorities are to get a Vista / DX10 ready machine that can play any current games at full stick. (I'll concede maybe Crysis and FSX :schwitz. A lot of storage space isn't important and I don't care too much for quietness or uber good sound.
I've uploaded previews to youtube but tbh, they look sh1thouse.
When I convert the movies in WMM (and 30FPS), they turn into a stuttering mess. Any tips on how to prevent this will be met with great kudos.
Mp3 Astra: My machine is surprisingly modest. Athlon 3000+ 6800GT (AGP) and 1GB RAM.
Töki (HUN): I'm uploading to Rapidshare as I type. Hopefully you can download from here. I'm off to bed now, but I should have a link for you in 8 hours or so, so keep an eye on the OP.
EDIT Had no luck with Rapidshare, but uploaded to Divshare (see top)
A new movie from me then. It runs at 0.5 and the intention is to show off LFS's physics.
As always, you won't find strange attempts at story or drama here, just movies of cars going passed, hopefully in an aesthetically pleasing manner and at a decent quality. The movie was made using Fraps to capture and Virtual Dub to edit and compile. Comments are welcome.
Agree with that and therefore vote for Eric to make his own 'like' tracks. That way you get the style of the world's great tracks, but without the armchair motor racing nerds wingeing about how inaccurate they are.
So having said that, a 6.2 KM circuit up the side of a mountain would do just fine, as would a 21km circuit through forests and around castles.
It's just a great big skating sandbox to go and skate in. It's brilliant, and SKATE2 will be just awesome if they improve the 'vert' (is that the right word? :shrug side of skating.
As much as I hate EA (most of the time), when they do innovative things with analogue controls (i.e. Fight Night/Skate), they do impress me.
Haven't played it online though. Sandbox games never work online...
I find I'm a bit time poor so I generally log on in the evening say between 9-11pm AEDST, and generally only for an hour or 2. During the days I'm either at work, playing cricket, out with the missus or on the harbor.
If you planned a race for say a Thursday night, I'd go out of my way to make sure I'm available to race and come last.
Anyway, good luck and I hope it works out one way or another.
EDIT - I voted for LX6 and LX4 at south city chicane, but my first preference would be for LX6 and FZ5 at WE Intl.
Either way, odd combos FTW!
EDIT 2 - Ever think about getting a server hosted locally? Connections are sorted by ping, so if there's a sh1tty response time in Australia, your server is probably down the list a bit and won't get noticed.
Look again.
You do lose sight of it for a second when it is blocked by the airborne car. The airborne car passes over the top of it and it reappears just before it lands.
Me either.
In fact there is no issue, because anyone who purchased S2 would have read the license agreement (posted above) which states that the game is gonna change. Why are people so shocked and surprised when it does?
