I agree.
LFS is a sim that attempts to be as realistic as possible. Playing it with a keyboard is almost as silly as making a thread complaining about how hard it is.
Are you referring to this? "At the professional level, drifting fulfills the promise of exciting, high energy motor sports based entertainment, something that most other forms of racing and motor sports today fall short of, especially among certain demographics." I actually think this is more a poorly constructed sentence than a claim that drifting is in fact racing, but take it as you will. It doesn't make it fact.
So, by your logic, this swimming event (see link below) is in fact motor sport: http://www.ascta.com/www/218/1 ... splayarticle/1027543.html
No, it's not swimming, because it's called a Grand Prix! Look at the definition of Grand Prix! Please...
Drifting is the same as racing?
That's like saying figure skating is the same as speed skating.
At the end of the day the means of winning is different i.e. First across the line versus judgment.
All this BS about coined phrases like 'Racing Technique' and ' Racers' is fruitless and means nothing. People can mince whatever words they like...
I could start referring to Racers as 'Long Haired Mongolian Yaks', but it wouldn't make them Yaks at all would it?
Graphics are the best I've seen. The lighting is brilliant. Looks like real life...
Until you see the car moving. Especially the bit at the end when it caught air. A huge uncanny valley moment.
The skid sound is rank.
My Prediction:
GT5 will be exactly like GT3 and 4 before it. A graphics showcase first, a fun racing game a distant second and a car simulator a very, very distant third.
There's not anything necessarily wrong with that, but people who think it drives like real life are delusional.
It's always good to see more Aussie servers.
I guess my ideal server is one where the racing is not 'ultra competitive, the people are friendly, and the LX and tin top cars are being raced.
For me, realism is fun, and I'm in the same boat as the Kiwi above this post. I've never been 'fast', but would rather have to drive it like I owned it. Races used to be about braking and steering only. There's much more to motor sport than just these 2 things.
The more realistic LFS becomes, the happier I will be. Obviously not everyone is aboard this boat but frankly the Devs were always headed this way. It's just now that we're starting to see the effects.
Thanks for that guys. I'd probably get standalone. I might get a nice solid industrial strength set rather than just a standalone clutch (if such a thing even exists).
I've got a Momo too and am currently using a wheel button as the clutch which is not ideal. Anyone know if there is such thing as a standalone USB clutch?
Else, do pedal sets like the ACT labs ones work OK with Momos wheels?
Let me correct you there. LFS won't be popular with Demo Drifters any more and Demo Drifters will be driven away.
I would guess that SCAVIER guessed that making an open wheeler available on the demo might attract more genuine racers to LFS, and maybe (just maybe) these people are more likely to fork out for the full version.
Personally, I think it's a great call and I still can't see a negative side at all.
That word would not look right without the standard numbers for letters substitution.
Well I gave up the bungers about 5 months ago, and my heart has made a full recovery. So, the palpitations must be directly related to d1rFt0Rx1ng and Cruising.
W00t - and I'm going to take all the credit for it.
I guarantee Scawen stumbled across this suggestion late in the night, and coded away tirelessly to have the it implemented for Patch Y.
Now if I could only get away from the friggin' office and download it, I would be a happy camper.
