Quote from bunder9999 :you said you have a realtek "sound card"... does it also have "srs premium sound"? have you had a look in the realtek hd sound manager?

between them both, it's probably a setting you've checked that's altering the sound coming out of the pc.

either that or its just the way the sound from the weaker cars is..
might be 'cause of the fact that they need to work harder at mid-range and then not as much at higher revs.. dunno tho

Quote from dadge :i don't think LFS does 5.1 only stereo. but i think with your setup, you would get 2x left 2x right and then your sub. i could be talking out of my ass tho.

What you mean is some kind of 5.1-stereo mode. Both the left speakers use the left soundchannel and same for the right.. So in a way it´s more like a 2.1 system with 2 additional speakers connected to the wires :P

Tho it works. Other than that i can only think of up-mixing and crap like that, that most of the time just sounds wrong :/

Quote from Bandit77 :That's actually BS, and I pretty much expected someone would say something like this.

How would the sound of the engine tell you anything about the next gear?

The sound can tell you when you'd better shift to avoid engine damage, or - if you already know the ideal shiftpoint - give you a hint because you remember the pitch, but the sound of the engine tells you nothing about the powercurve and gear ratios.

lol? Do u have a shiftlight in ur IRL car? i mean.. if not, HOW THE HELL can u drive it?

the way u argument, we need shiftlights in all cars just to be able to shift.. as the light seems to "magically" have something to do with the gears.. hmm.. sure in LFS thats true.. not IRL tho.. as IRL the goddamn rice-lights just light up at a pre-set value..

I'm one of those that think that all the generations before us (2 or 3 gens ago) should have thought about all the shit they did to the planet. First NOW all those stupid asses start to think about how bad it was for the climate with all those goddamn Nuclearbomb-tests both above and under ground/water.

So when all the people that MADE the planet what it is and how it is now, take blame for it, THEN i can start to think about doing anything about the climate.. until then ill just continue like now

Quote from NitroNitrous :My laptop has 4 cores which means 8Ghz. Therefore my e-penis is huge

So my E8500 @ 4.2GHz is infact 8.4GHz? And therefor my 850MHz Dual-Channel is 1700MHz and multiplied by themselfes to give me 8GB?

I REALLY need to start reading these threads so that i get this info :P

Quote from banshee56 :OK, here's the situation:

My father runs a parts machining business on his home property. He runs his business (paperwork, billing, etc) from his home office via a desktop PC located in his house, while his machine shop is located in a permanent, yet separate building. He is frequently on the road doing quotes for new business and would like to be able to access his business software (Peachtree) via a laptop while out and then synch from his shop office when he returns.

His internet situation is rudimentary at best due to his rural location, so I don't consider that to be part of the solution. Also, I don't want to go to the trouble to install networking cables from his house to the shop, so the solution needs to be remote. I can spec out a laptop for him, but I need to know what I need to get for his laptop and desktop to create this wireless home network.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Wireless router/switch for the desktop pc, and just a laptop with in-built wlan? shouldnt be so hard i think

Quote from Crashgate3 :I've got a 275 and game at 5040x1050 (with three screens) and it runs everything fine. You should be ok with the same card at 1920x1080.

Yeah, the GTX275 is pretty amazing a friend is using both a monitor and a TV @ 1920x1080 at the same time with no noticable fpsdrop.

and i myself have a gtx260 which a really good card too tho

Quote from iFastLT :Oh come on, I know when tyre is overheated or flatspotted. It's something with ABS, when tyre has almost no grip (it's a bit lifted and for example with much dirt on it). I'm sure I have seen it few times, will try to reproduce it later

The abs wont even work if one tire is in the air, it just slows down normally. so there is only one color that the abs uses to show when it works.

Quote from Kerodal :... if you're okay with ripping the ECU out of the car. Again, road car, not race car. Think of it like taking your two-seater daily driver to an autocross meet. It still has ABS.

Yeah about ripping the ECU out...
ABS systems are easy to disable from use...
If you look behind you´r wheel&tire there is one pipe (for brakes but nothing about that)
Then there is usually another wire that comes somewhere near brakedisk
follow that wire and there should be plug somewhere...
just unplug that wire (and all 3 other wires from other tyres) and Voilá No ABS...
only thing it usually does is that there comes text or some symbol light that says ABS failure or something...
(My statement is only for demostration how easy it can be to remove ABS and i dont recommend anyone to do it and also i shall take no response if some one´s car dont like about that job, any system failure or malfunction or expensive repair or other damage made to car)(ok now no-one cant sue me)
T:Kerodal (studying last year as car mechanic)

the new patch is great especially the faster host list loading
Thankyou Scawen

ECU? the one that controlls all of the engineparameters? thought a FUSE was all u needed to kill the abs?

Quote from c00kie :Are you by any chance running XP SP1 or earlier? since they won't recognise more than 137GB of space in any hard drive installed. The problem goes away if you upgrade to SP2 or get a later version of Windows.

Uhh, disregard that, I just saw you said vista so just RMA it, as there's obviously something wrong with it.

not true, i had my 250 and 320gb hdds when xp sp1 was out.. so no, it doesnt clip the hdd size.

Quote from Forbin :If you have your monitor set to scale all resolutions to full screen, you will get squishing/stretching by running a 16:9 res on a 16:10 monitor.

If you have the scaling set properly, you should have black bands on the top and bottom when running a 16:9 res on a 16:10 monitor.

yeah, thats how I have it no reason to have it any other way..
