There's no need for voice communication in random pickup race servers imo. What would you need to say to the others that you can't type? Nothing. I can think only negative points.
And more organized things, well they're organized, so you can easily organize communication services too.
This is one of those things we can argue forever, but i'd prefer keeping the tyre and clutch temp meters, since we lack other clues that would be there IRL. Especially thinking new players here, it would be hard for the newbies to learn to save the tires/clutch without those meters.
One of the best things really is the safety. You can pass out in the middle of Helsinki at night, and still have your wallet and cellphone untouched when you wake up in the morning. It took 2,5 years of daily ignorance to get rid of my unlocked bicycle in this little native village of 5000 peeps. Bulglary doesn't exist here - except in summer cottages which are at danger while they're empty in the middle of nowhere after summer season.
Social security is top notch - you can have quite a good standard for living without having to even work. Health care and education is almost free, until you remember how much you pay taxes.
If you nevertheless want to work, I'd recommend a traditional workclass job like building or metalcraft, those guys are making sick amounts of money compared to nerds and academic people which we have produced too much lately.
Double morale in our justice system is something you might be surprised at. You can get severly punished of self defense if someone attacks you, but murderers walk free after 4 years and are able to murder again! Grow 4 big beautiful plants of hemp and you can get a conditional jail sentence! So you should probably consider outrageus repeatative drunk driving, tax frauds, raping or dealing loads of dangerous drugs instead.
This is really a two sided coin, on the other hand I couldn't care less and it would certainly statisfy many people and bring new players to LFS.
On the other hand LFS is a racing sim, and providing any other content slows down the development. I'm also afraid that the new crowd attracted by this drift car would differ quite a lot from the unique well-behaving mature one I've used to race and discuss with on servers and on this board.
It's not a bad suggestion, only a few ears too early I believe.
In real life, or in LFS, If you turn the steering wheel in opposite direction of where the car's nose tends to turn when rear end is sliding, the car actually starts to straighten out.
It's probably not the biggest one, but I remember it like it happened yesterday. I was about 13 years old, playing football as a defensive midfielder. From opponent's corner kick, I started a run with the ball from our own end of the field, made a few "wall passes", dribbled past their defenders, and got a breakaway. I was so exhausted of the sprint, as it was my first year on full sized pitch, and so full of adrenaline that my vision literally blurred. I couldn't think clearly, nor feel my body anymore, so obviously I ****ed it up in 1 on 1 with the goalie. The adrenaline disappeared in a fraction of a second, and I felt like an impotent in front of naked Hayden Panettiere.
Keiichi Tsuchiya's (sp) Drift Bible is a wonderful piece of education material when it comes to drifting, in LFS or in real life.
EDIT: After watching your clip, I think it may not be a bad idea to actually try to drive "normally" first, so that you come more familiar with the driving lines and limits of the car. After that (or if you already are at that point), just lower the speed a little bit and start with small slides, and eventually you will 'automatically' learn. At least that's how I'd do it.
Because the head is too ****ed up to understand. Trying to find reasons for stuff like this is useless. Mental illness exists and can't be completely cured. A human is able to do horrible things to each other, it has always done and always will.
If we want to do something as individuals, we should take care of our friends and family. Speculating things like this in public or buying the papers that just want to make money out of these situations only makes it worse. I bet that lots of finns that ciriticized the media priorities of reporting Virginia Tech fatalities over the days Iraq fatalities, are today picking up those yellow toilet papers before going to work, because a tragedy happened 'closer'.
I'd feel hypocritical to even condolence here, since I never knew anyone involved and don't think they would read it anyway. Of course I do feel very sad for the victims and their closest ones, but I believe that shutting up is the most reasonable thing. At lest left being speechless isn't quite hard this morning.
Today was the fist day that reminded me of winter cycling. Had to choose between 2 meter front visibility, or having tons of hard and cold snowflakes in my eyes while trying to hurry to the bus. Not to mention that the ice and other crap is still to come
