Question is: what the **** is the ugly red for then ?

That tyre-gambling-playing stuff still annoys me. Like how some cars appear to be 1,5-2 sec faster again than the one in front of them, but once they get behind that rear wing they're stuck, unless taking "divebombing" risk like Alonso tried. Or how long Button did on his tyres.

Not a bad race to view, though still the same conclusion as previous GPs. Hope it improves on the Euro circuits...

Why is this broadcasting, intro, comments sooooo much better than the F1 stuff...

Nice stuff, thanks for sharing! Any livestream for today's race ?

Quote from three_jump :Yes. If you look at the stats from lap 33 on or so (Hamilton pit), you'll notice that any passing (sucessfull) manouvers are practicly not existent. Button and Kubica were set on their positions after lap 10 when everyone changed to dry tires. Having a close pack is ok, even Kubica getting a deserved 2nd, but the fact that nearly noone was even able to make a move after it was dry doesn't qualify for me as a good race. Sorry.

EDIT:
First half was great though

Agreed. You get some nice racing of some cars catching up fast, doing 1,5 - 2 secs faster lap times, then they get behind the corner, right under the rear wing and.... that's it. Unbelieveable and in my eyes proving that there is something wrong.

Decent race, better than previous one.Though I keep having my same complaints so...

Quote from tristancliffe :So which of you wants to join me when I launch my new motorsport championship, at the international level, without anything to do with the FIA?

It could be called Formula Ace, and will have the loosest possible technical regulations (a state that will be written into the charter of the company) that allows technical freedom, innovation, cleverness, with the restraints and constraints required to provide good racing, vaguely sensible budgets (although I still think that if the sponsors WANT to pay £200m per year, who am I to stop them?), and a policeable, consistent set of rules.

There will be certain regulations to ensure compliance, which will include a spec datalogger system to monitor performance, and mobile dyno stations on which all engines must be run before they can be used. Results will be confidential, but will be used to ensure that nobody is "cheating". Power regulation will be via fuel flow rates, so that a certain amount of energy is allowed, per second, to reach the engine.

Over-body aerodynamics will be regulated to ensure that it provides a minority of the total grip, whilst still allowing the cars to be different and for shapes to evolve.
Ground effects will be allowed and, indeed, encouraged.
There will be no gimmicks - no push to pass, no KERS, no mandatory pitstops, no refuelling.
Races will be at least 300 miles.
Brake regulations will ensure a certain maximum performance, designed to increase braking distances. This may be by limiting the diameter of the discs, rather than the material, to encourage innovation whilst massively reducing the braking torque possible.

And so on and so forth...

I'm in. What needs to be done ?

All I saw about it was really great! If they'd only be broadcasting in on our sport stations I can receive or in the (poverly done) racing shows they show her on national sport channels.

Quote from BurnOut69 :Anyone knows what happened to Petrov's car? Looked like suspension broke up from a hard release

He went too hard over a curb and damaged some right front wheel suspension cable (probably named different though, one of those cables who're attached to the body and the wheel itself, kind of like those who prevent the wheel from breaking off the car during a crash, but then a cable for the actual suspension).

Thanks Dawguk for clearing that up!

Btw, I don't complain all the time. It's just a fact that F1 is getting itself lost in a load of shitrules made up by goodbusinessmen but bad sportsmen, cause that's what Bernie & Co are.

What was the problem btw at the start with Webber and that smoke ? I can nowhere read something about it...

Vettel's issue was an electric problem in the engine, but the unit itself is not damaged. So Renault failed Vettel, not the exhaust.

I get the impression that FIA made 10 rules to "improve the racing and the show for the viewers" and made 2 rules who entirely neglect and turn down the effects of those 10 other rules...

Like, great that there's not refueling anymore, but it's just replaced heavier with tyre preservation. Before Vettel had his problem Alonso was pushing the car and doing 1:58-low 59 times. Two laps later he had to stop doing that to preserve the tyres and keep the engine from going hotter as it needs to be used for the next races aswell. Webber and Schumacher was the same. They could be pushing more, they could be really racing more, but as they can't really make the pass and don't want to risk burning the tyres they just do their laps behind eachother and play a waiting game of who makes a big error or gets mechanical trouble the entire race long.

I want good racing. I want to see F1 cars being pushed by (mostly) great racers. Even if they don't pass I want to see the cars being pushed to their limits hard. I give a **** about fuel, tyres, whatever saving. I want racing damn it!

Currently I had a lot more fun and saw more racing in lesser Formula leagues or for example V8s than I saw in F1. Even that "junior Nascar league" (forgot the name, kind of Formula Renault or F3 or something compared to F1) was a lot more fun and had much better racing than I saw today in F1's race.

Hi,

I'm afraid I'll sign out. Number #67. I missed the final practice session and still had to do one. I simply lack the motivation at all to play LFS.

Pardon me once more to NDR for possible adminstration trouble. Have a good qualify and race everyone!

Sincerely,

On BBC, interview at the end with Barichello. Reporter asks: Schumacher only a few spots in front of you Bari, how do you feel about his return ?
Barichello replies: "I have the hard fresh tyres "

Lovely

Was a nice qualify though. Ferrari back on track. Red Bull keeps up their good performance. I'm also impressed by Force India. There was little talk about them, but they did a good performance in my opinion and continue their last season good ending, I hope they can reach the podium once this season as they earn it. Mercedes and Mclaren... not so superb qualify but let us first wait and see the race (tactics) and also Melbourne. This track has a tendancy for being a bit more in favor of some driving styles or people's preferences, while Melbourne is more overall equal for all. Looking forward to tomorrow's race.
