its occurs to me that a large portion of the net (and hey, perhaps the world) operates on 'kudos' and recognition; status, I s'pose.
Are the mods here not "celebrities" of sorts?
I suspect that, deep down, most of us are just dying to feel important and be remembered That, coupled with a genuine desire to be useful, is reason enough for a good few members, I reckon.
I think we'd do ok. Open noms, have the existing mods cull anyone they deem inappropriate or who is disinterested, and put it to a vote.
It would be nice to have a say in such things, is all. There's one bloke in particular who imho would make a great mod; I guess that was why I suggested it.
Test Drive on the c64 would probably have been my first "proper" racing game. Also Hard Drivin' in the arcades.... proper 3 pedal setup and gears, w00t
Stunts on the C64 too, and Indy 500 on PC :cyclops:
september '02, played the demo with mouse (after being massively disappointed with codemasters' latest offering) - "yeah, this is how it should be done"
on my third wheel: thrustmaster ferrari, momo black, and now the g25. G25 is by far the best and smoothest, imho.
Other than what has been suggested here; it seemed logi had some initial problems with quality and consitency in the product. For me, the improvements over my other wheels are so massive, I wonder if maybe you have a dodgy wheel
LFS force strength @ 30, cp rotation is 270; other setting identical to Woz's.
... and to continue the above thought: I don't think trailbraking is the sort of thing you need worry about when learning to drive LFS. Concentrate more on getting on the gas as early as possible, rather than maximizing braking. There's much more to be gained by getting up it early :cyclops:
Sincerely,

Current holder of precisely zero (0) WRs. (but I'm competitive, honest :shy
i'm certainly not against it. I do object, however, to a suggestion that I should drive a different (read: slower) formula simply because I find texture resolution irrelevant when racing side-by-side with someone. I only need to know where they are in relation to my car.
And EeekiE, as for my 'old post, but' comment, I felt a little silly responding to Becky's old statement, but sorta had to anyhow . No qualms on the resurrection of the thread itself; i missed it the first time around :cyclops:
I haven't seen this reported yet, apologies if it's a duplicate.
Joined a high-ping (300ish) server with heaps of connections... oops. The track was changed, and the race started while I was sorting a setup. The server was fine before the track change, as was my connection, but it lagged up badly after that.
Recorded in replay:
*textures gone
*wrong way message with cars going right way
*cars (locally) bouncing over obstacles that evidently weren't there
I guess some OOS error, tho I haven't seen anything like that before. The replay shows all the textures gone, but when it was 'live', opponent's cars were bouncing around all over the place, as if they'd spawned beneath the track
U35, and it might be worth mentioning that I've had to default temporarily to onboard gfx (unrelated )
[edit: also, turns out that my ISP "are currently investigating a fault on an international transmission circuit which is causing low-grade packet loss to some destinations."]
I like the new sound of the FOX; it sounds meatier, ballsier.... louder.
Of course, that could be due to me having the sound turned up I got a PB at a track I'm typically useless at, too. Might have been the extra laps, set tweaking, but I think some of it was the information the new sounds provide... particularly the dif. I didn't find the other car sounds as convincing, tho.
I like where LFS has been taken in the 4+ years I've watched it, so I'm pretty confident Scavier will work it out  No vote.
Assuming no one voted for opposing options: the only thing I'd want to draw from the results is that the overwhelming majority of those that frequent the forums (92% of those that voted on the option, and 86% of the entire vote), prefer a pick-up server that is car-class restricted. No surprise there, yet there's still a lot of open servers.
The results are by no means cut and dry, and I suppose they could be interpreted in different ways. But it seems that the majority of those who voted on the relevant options prefer to see a pick-up race run for under 10 minutes, or ten laps.
(I personally don't think it's practical for most pick-up races to go beyond this, so it serves as a nice way to justify an opinion )
So, server admins, assuming you want an occupied server... how about a bit of a mix-up? Try restricting it to a particular class, and try something different. Most people are well and truly over the FOX@BLGP and the GTRs@Aston.
I'd also suggest that you keep it under ten laps, or ten minutes, per race,
thanks :wave2:
I was going to suggest "Buttf*ck Bend" for T1 at Blackwood, but let's face it... that term applies to most first corners :cyclops:
Short of input from the Devs, it's going to be pretty hard for the community to come up with names. Perhaps another approach: when an established league visits a particular configuration, they can map it out and apply names for the corners that frequently come up in discussion. We sort of tried it in MNR (OzBee-R's Monday Night Racing league), but with simple names, for eg. "T1 complex".
I don't think it's necessary to name all corners of a track, beyond T1, T2, The Sweeper... etc.
