You can hear the audio from the crash here http://audioboo.fm/boos/871249

Sounds very odd. Almost like the pit limiter.

some of the marshal positions are horrendous. I do enjoy the X-Games but christ they need to employ some common sense. The crash above where the dude missed the jump and hit the bridge as well... where's the extinguishers?

Quote from Lotesdelere :Of course not, as they wouldn't been qualified, they finished second of their group.

I was referring to the last world cup where they finished behind Nz. Just highlighting the turn-around time of total disaster to massive success. Whereas England are in this continual loop of mediocrity.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I agree but still, that's basically what the Italians did against Germany. The difference is they've got Pirlo and we've got Gerrard, and they've got Balotelli and we've got Rooney.

Rooney and Gerrard are both Champions League winners, they aren't total idiots. This is the mystery. While others said England had no hope at this tournament, I genuinely thought they had a group of decent players. Decent enough not to look like they were totally clueless unfit losers as Italy made them look. The fact they then blew penalties when they should have had the mental advantage was also shocking.

So Italy finish bottom of their World Cup group and in the followed tournament get to the final. Quite remarkable and speaks volumes about the nature of the game.

England reach the quarters and needs a route and branch re-think about English football. Italy finish last in their group, shake it off, and reach the final of the Euros.

Quote from englishlord :No, it's a rule system that gives you a drive through if you crash into someone and demotes you from pole to the back of the grid if you ignore a flag.

3rd place gets you more points that 4th place, so you should be able to battle for a place without fear of getting punted into the barrier by a sulky pay driver. Regardless of how ****ed your tyres are.

By your logic, nobody would tackle notorious football players in case they get injured and it jeopardises a future match.

Lewis took a high risk strategy. Modern tracks mean that when you run a driver wide, which Lewis was perfectly within his rights to do, and then that's followed by a corner in the opposite direction of the first then you have to take into account that. Lewis didn't. There's a time and a place to defend your position, this wasn't it.

Quote from DeKo :How did he play to your strengths, he played 2 strikers, when his plan all along was to sit in and bring the Italians to them. Anyone with a brain knows this is senseless, especially when 1 of those strikers is Carroll and the other one is an unfit Rooney (I hope he was unfit, if that's a fit Rooney then he's shite). He also played 2 basically old guys in center mid, which when your full team is set up to counter-attack seems pointless. Gerrard and Parker ran the legs off themselves chasing balls they were never going to get. I really don't see how any part of the England tactics last night was thought out or suited to the team.

Our strengths are defence and we pretty much played a 9-2 formation. What we witnessed was really as good as it will get with this bunch of players. It was mind-numbingly awful. It's hard to comprehend how a team which features players that have when Champions League trophies can play so poorly, but Roy produced performances that were as good as England will ever play.

Quote from englishlord :But what you are saying is that drivers that are known to be arseholes be let through or at best not as well fought as those that drive cleanly. Which may be in some way be pragmatic for the drivers in a situation but it's bullshit for the sport.

That's DRS & Pirelli for ya.

I would have jumped out the way, no question. This is modern F1 and that's the way the tyres work. You can't defend with DRS and Pirelli tyres it's utterly pointless. When your pace is similar yes, but when your tyres are gone, they are gone.

Quote from sinbad :That was the worst game I've ever seen.

It looked like Hodgson told them to try and score in the first ten minutes, but after that concede two thirds of the pitch and give it back to Italy asap.

What a whimpering shambolic way to go out of a tournament.
I would rather they had lost 3-1 than progress to the semi finals by "playing" like that. Italy weren't even that good or dangerous in possession.

So lame, and I'm quite glad I don't have to put up with more "we can do it" b.s between now and what would have been certain elimination on thursday.

I don't know why they bother with the commentators for England matches. They were all talking up their chances before the match, and once that penalty went in, it was: "that's their level, this is where we expected them to get to, this shows the improvements we need to make in English football". B.s before, and "we knew this would happen" afterwards

+1

The whole tournament has been a media disaster. What made me laugh was people were saying constantly before the tournament.

"Everybody has low expectations for England this year, and because of that they could do really well". Do the not understand how stupid that sounds? The sentence contradicts itself. Also, how can a team that includes 4-5 champions league winners not be expected to qualify from a group with Sweden and Ukraine?

I don't think there has been any improvement under Roy either, but he did play to England's strengths. but defending the ball and hoofing it can only get you so far. That's really all it appears England can do.

There was a stat doing the rounds on Twitter that the player the completed the most passes for England was.... Joe Hart.

Quote from Kazu2799 :lots of people here are seriously full of shit, had it been hamilton who tried to pass every single one of you would have put the blame on him and him only, hamilton did what he had to do, he didin't block maldonado and he was ahead of him for the second corner, Maldonado should have backed down.

Hamilton should have let Pastor go. That's the fundamental point. Why risk it?

Quote from Hyperactive :
And then adjust the length of the zone to be so short that the overtaking car can barely get abreast when getting into the braking zone. With properly working drs we could have actual battles going on and overtaking would not be so farcically artificial.

Each car has different set ups so it's hard to get the DRS working fairly. Some drivers hit the limiter while others don't. But then it's all about how the teams deal with it.

Quote from Mustafur :Car isn't as much of a factor as it used to be, besides just because the tyres are rubbish doesn't mean its lack of Appeal.

F1 is about strategy just as much as racing and when it comes to strategy this year it allows the midfeild to go for wins, if you expect spec racing material then F1 isn't going to be for you.

F1 is as spec racing now as it's ever been. Spec ECU, spec tyres, equalized engines etc...

Quote from Forbin :Funny that none of you have even completed uni, let alone with 10's of thousands of dollars of student loan debt.

No, coz we were smarter than the ones that chose to go Uni and racked up thousands of pounds/dollars of debt. Of course I jest, but there is a certain element of truth in that for some.

I was fed the same BS about Uni and all that blah, but thankfully I had an instinct that the economy was doomed to **** up at some point and **** having shit loads of debt. Nothing I really wanted to do 100% required a degree fortunately as well.

But you are right, that young kids are fed so much rubbish about going Uni and then they find there are no jobs. No job is guaranteed, everyone should know that, however boom time mentality messes with people's common sense.
