Nothing really new for Hamilton

lol

Going to be no where in 2013, disaster season coming, but anything can happen in 2014 with new engines.

Quote from el pibe :that is a dick move by autosport. i was going to subscribe before this but now i wont.

ssuuurrreeee you were going to subscribe lol

Fact is most media new outlets are in deep shit. The Guardian is hemorrhaging money like there is no tomorrow and that's one of the world's most popular news sites. Autosport can't afford to continue as they are. It's piss annoying but hey ho that's how the market is developing... and of course the work arounds to the pay-wall only compound the problem.

What this year is a lesson in is to finish first, first you have to finish. McLaren have done a absolutely stunning job of blowing the championship. Probably have overall (including mis-season dip in form) the best car & both their drivers are no where in the championship

I got myself a VW Golf 1.6 2000ish for 1100 and it's been pretty good so far. The Focuses I looked at always seemed a bit dodgy. my sister got a VW Gold diesal, same age but it cost 2000, and that's been absolutely brilliant too. Fuel economy is around 50mpg for her so pretty good

Yep. There was a funny feature in tKart a while back where he track tested a Cadet kart (for 8-11 yr olds), a KF2 and a KZ1 all on the same day. Probably the only person that could drive competitively in all three. He's something special.... and very wealthy to boot lol

Quote from amp88 :Can you link to some articles to re-educate me?

If government regulation isn't a major aspect of helping to prevent a future financial crisis, why would the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve say so?

History provides so many examples of situations where people are willing to effectively destroy the lives of millions of people in order to make vast sums of money. Just look at how many people either entirely lost their pension or lost significant portions. Do you think it's right for a financial institution to be able to gamble on the market with the pension fund of hundreds of thousands of people and suffer very little to no penalties if they lose everything?

http://mises.org - tons of free literature, essays, lectures etc...

What media outlets like the partial BBC do is falsely try to pretend that free market types = republican nutty far-right types who created this mess... when it was infact institutes like the above linked that were shouting loudest about the impending collapse.

Essentially the argument isn't about regulation as such, but about the structures of currency and debt. This isn't a crisis of markets/regulation it's a crisis of fiat currency. And there are both arguements from the left and right that support that.

Everyone seems to be forgetting we have new engine regulations in 2014 and Mercedes are... guess what?.... engine manufacturers. Never know it could be the team to be in in 2014. And you've got Ross Brawn at the helm. There are performance based reasons for such a move. I still have my doubts though.

But McLaren have Nyck de vries in their system, and this kid is going to be a huge star. They won't miss Lewis for too long.

It wasn't a penalty. The closing speed was high and I am not so sure what Alonso was thinking to be quite honest.

Quote from amp88 :Yes, because de-regulating markets has been so successful in the last few years, hasn't it? The people should be protected against the greed of the financial institutions trying to exploit them and from the greed of other members of the public who over-extend themselves financially.

ahhh amp88, why do you put in so much work in your post and then demonstrate you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a free-market is? If you think that the banks and what they did are a product of a libertarian/free-market system then you have no idea what Libertarianism stands for.

You will find that it was in fact Libertarians who were the most strongly vocal about the dangers of the financial set up leading up to the financial crisis. Ron Paul and Peter Schiff being the most well known examples. You can find essays and essays from Libertarian writers warning about the oncoming crisis all throughout the 90s and 00s.

The dangers of a fiat currency being exploited by governments as well as banks is something that isn't of a 'free-market' and nor is it of a socialist/left system either. What they did was an exploitation of both socialism AND capitalism & a fiat currency system. If anything the crisis was a problem which is rooted in centrist politics i.e Governments wanting to continue spending shitloads while still being business friendly.

And BTW big corporations LOVE more regulation because they can afford it. if makes it harder for any competitors to grow and compete with them. And btw again, during the 00s quite a few corporations had to hire more and more compliance officers.

Quote from aoun :..the way he steers the kart through corners... my gosh he is talented.

I also thought he raced for CRG?

Moved to PCR this year. His results have been a bit hot and cold, but in KZ1 you have 1 of 10 guys that could win at any given meeting. Probably some of the best racing in the world right now, and nobody is even aware of it

The Mercedes has pretty much stagnated in terms of performance and Schumacher and Rosberg are considered 'good' development drivers. I find it funny that people say Hamilton is no good, but he presided over one of the biggest development turn-arounds ever - MP4-24.

Button is supposadly good, but the Brawn got slower in 2009 and less said about Honda the better. Alonso is supposed to be good, but the Ferrari is at a no higher level really than when he started there.

All this 'good' or 'bad' development drivers is 99% bollocks that people come out with to try and make them sound smarter.

I thought Mitt Romney was just who the Reps put forward to lose. The inevitable crash 2.0 that will hit the USA either way, for the Reps, would be better off for Obama to deal with. Turns out he could actually win! lol

I can't see it happening though. Mercedes is a big gamble, unless Nico has said that they could come good.

The Green Party Guys really???? I'm a tree hugging, bug loving vegan (and thus probably making me more 'green' then any of you lot) ffs and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. These are the guys that said they will give anyone a job who wants one. Jobs 4 everyone? Where have I heard that one before? Soviet Union anyone?

Quote from sinbad :I think the mistake is that he posted something he shouldn't have, not that he posted it by accident our didn't mean to.
It happens, ask Rio Ferdinand.

I'd sack a driver for revealing data like that. You wouldn't even see that in karting. I'd even go as far as saying it could be against the law to reveal Jenson's data due to copyright/data protection issues.

It's obvious Hamilton has immense talent, I just can't quite calculate how he can make such stupid mistakes sometimes.

Quote from sinbad :I wonder if there will be a difference in terms of the stewards opinions between this Grosjean and Hamilton incident and the Vettel, Button incident at Suzuka?
Button jumped out of it, and Vettel was judged to have done nothing wrong by moving across. Grosjean does little different from what Vettel did, except Hamilton didn't give way so crunch.

Anyone got a vid of that?

Quote from thisnameistaken :Oh look, here's another topic you insist on talking about when you know nothing about it.

What I do know is that abortion, and the law, is a perfectly understandable topic of discussion and debate, especially in the states.

Quote from hyperactive :So you think the aborted fetuses are in fact living humans? Maybe you should actually use some google to figure out how "living" the fetuses are at the moment of abortion. For example check what the acceptable abortion weeks are and at what stage the fetus is at that time.

In the UK babies have been born within the limit (24 weeks) and survived, so yes I guess you can say some fetuses were humans. That does highlight a moral dilemma. The difference, in the UK at least, between murder and legal abortion is a matter of inches when the fetus/baby has reached 21-24 weeks.

Look, I naturally side on the liberal side of the debate. I am just stating that it's a perfectly acceptable debate to be having, especially the states. The nutjobs of course don't help who have banners and all that BS. But refusal on the part of 'pro-abortionists' to understand why it's still an issue highlights a level of ignorance that will only inflame people's feelings.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I do find it odd that abortion is still a hot topic in american politics. That outlawing abortion even gets proposed in a modern society is shocking. Appalling even. It's getting the point where I wonder if the clerics in Iran tell their people that americans are jealous of their ruthless theocracy.

Why is abortion such a hot topic? I think it's as valid a topic as anything else as we are talking about the actual life of a human being. There is a debate to understand how the only difference between murder and legitimate killing is whether a baby is inside a womb or not. A difference of a couple of inches. A baby can be born, and if it is then killed that's full blooded murder, a murder which would have been perfectly legal only moments before a possible birth.

I probably lay more on the liberal side of the debate. Outlawing it would cause back alley abortions and then we have the topic of rape etc... But it's perfectly understandable why it's a 'hot topic'. It's typical anti-American and somewhat hypocritical ignorance that would think otherwise.

The Big Year - Oddly enjoyable for some weird reason avbout competitive birding (bird watching). Nothing really happens and no laugh out loud moments despite firmly comedic based cast, but relaxing. It's like muzak in film 5/10

Rampart - Good performance from Woody Harrelson if a little let down by the script. Worth watching nonetheless. 6.5/10

Quote from DeadWolfBones :
Yeah, crazy how that happens when the Republicans block any kind of budget deal that even whispers of a tax increase, even when it's offset by spending cuts.

tax increase AND spending cut.... how does that work? tax payers lose and tax beneficiaries lose.

Quote from The Moose :Unfortunately we're talking about a country that voted Bush in twice. I share your fear.

... and we voted in Labour who have done an excellent and thorough job of shafting us all. The whole country fell for the big lie on more than one occasion. Don't get snobbish about the Americans because we are no different.

Reg the GOP. There was only one worthwhile candidate for the Republicans and that was Ron Paul, but they were never going to allow him to win.
