There is nothing wrong with questioning the reality you live in, but to obsess about it is unhealthy.

Ha ha....two days with S2 and he is on a cruise server. I cannot WAIT for his commentary.

Another thing to ponder about: if you noticed the fastest drivers in the real world, are not really what you would call deep thinkers. Notice how some just gaze off into the distance? They are not being introspective, they are just plain...well, dumb!

So...stop thinking, pretend you are (insert assumed dum dum driver here) and just do it!

Quote from Zany :Well I think I have a slight bit of talent (yeey :P) Just had a go on Fe Green with the FBM and done a 1.05.85 with an in development setup and still learning the track. I thought I'd have a go at it since it would change the routine I have atm ( which is BLGP all the time ...)

World record is 1:04.6...that is pretty good. Me? 1:09. But, I have fun.

EDIT: I cannot believe this went over my head...demo + Fern Bay...

Let the bodies hit the floor.

Practice, but a lot of it comes down to talent. Some have it, some do not.

I am not talented. I can hold my own on the track, but I will forever be a middle pack finisher, and I am happy with that. If you are happy to aspire to be the best, DO IT.
But, if it immensely frustrates you to no end that you cannot be the fastest, rethink your priorities, or risk being a very unhappy, insecure person.

Quote from Frankestein01nl :The whole reason i quit this game online is because of the wining on the forums... occasionally me and a friend tear up a parkinglot.. but that's it.

Regards,

Frankestein

Oh give me a break! Just this past weekend I was on the same track as a person I REALLY loathe on the forums; we both ignored each other and all was well.

Quote from BBO@BSR :Look at this thread i.e.
http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=853934#post853934

The mods etc. have seen / read more from him then many of us, I guess.
So I'm sure they had their reasons

From that:
Quote from dawesdust_12 :Yes, because the forum is now practicing censorship to give the faux illusion that all is "Happy Happy, Joy Joy" here, which I think is crap. Sure it was OT, but deleting it was worse. Moderation should have moved it to a new (locked) topic, not gone all censor on it by deleting it.

Apparently open criticism is no longer welcome on these forums, as is demonstrated by Ian's new member title.

Great job guys...

Ha ha...I always find it funny that some think there is a sort of democracy on any internet forum, where in truth, you have to run it like a benevolent dictatorship to excise control.

Thank you for:

-Creating essentially Second Life / AIM / IRC with cars. Ever checked out Second Life? Exactly.
-Keeping people who shouldn't race off legitimate servers.
-Corralling social people who would otherwise chat away instead of race.
-Corralling wreckers would otherwise ruin others good times instead of race.

Interpret my comments how you like. I could say "I hate cruise servers!!" but in fact, I like them a lot, for the above reasons.

Maybe he plays offline on patch X. It annoys me that demo users can still use the XRT, but I cannot pass judgment.

Sorry to waste anyone's time who read this; comparing a backup disc I burned of all my files, I discovered I moved a file into the .dds folder.

S2 is unlocked, and everything is working properly.

I was online racing earlier, shut the program down using escape key. Fire up LFS again the big button saying that I am S2 licended now says "unlock S2".

Ok. I click on that, and nothing happens. So I click on multiplayer, type in my username and pass word, and get "unlock error 1" in the upper left hand of the screen.

Any help would be appreciated, and thank you in advance.

Quote from Mazz4200 :Erm, so what you're saying is, anyone who thinks Bush is a 'bit of a berk' is a communist.

McCarthyism still live and kicking i see..

No, I think he is a complete idiot, also. But I find "Bush Hysteria" rather amusing; he is the ultimate scapegoat for EVERYTHING wrong in the world, and the lengths people go to pin that on him, like the OP, is rather funny.

Actually it is pitiful, sadly.

Now that I think of it, the same scapegoating was tagged to George Bush Senior, and Ronald Regan, and Richard Nixon and Dwight Eisenhower...hmm, I sense a pattern.

Quote from durbster :It's not new.

The US has been attempting to establish or maintain an empire for over 100 years and, evidently, they're not very good at it

And your country has failed at it, started with the Colony of the Americas. Now in the UK, you cannot blow your nose without offending someone or triggering the police to put up surveillance cameras.

Quote :
I think part of the problem a large number of US citizens have the mistaken belief that their country has a clear conscience; that all its wars were fought for the right reasons and conducted in a manner befitting a civilised nation. It's now becoming clear to them that it's not the case and people are realising that the US has as much history of genocide and global bullying as anyone.

I can accept that rationale.

Quote :
Korea, Vietnam and Iraq were all triggered by the US feeling the need to either strengthen its position in the world, or prevent another country (i.e. Russia for Korea and Vietnam, and the middle east as a whole for Iraq) from doing the same. The patterns of each of those three conflicts are curiously similar, as if the US learns something, but then forgets it all twenty years later.

IIRC the reason we went to Vietnam was two fold; the Marshall Doctrine and the failure of the French to fight their own stupid, pointless war.

Quote :
But perhaps the world needs a superpower to keep us all in check. The US has been a significant player in allowing Europe to enjoy 60+ years of peace, for example.

And I am, in all honesty, afraid that civil war will once again plague Europe, and I feel it will be ethnic "cleansing" or revolting against the European Union.
If that is the case, I am sure Team USA (**** YEAH!) will called in so Europe can be put to order again, and so faux intelligentsia, like some on this video game forum, can have another reason to bemoan the US "Empire".

Quote from titanLS and other lib-dems on this board :As I was trying to fall asleep last night...(snip)

Awww..you socialists are SOOOO cute! Since most lib-dems have no sense of humor, this should go down well.

I just laugh at the term "neo-conservative"...socialists do like to label and partition people, don't they!...yet how quickly they forget their "fellow travelers" in Russia had the same thing in mind.
Oh, siily me; I forgot they were the "good guys" because they helped the allies in World War II, and people COPMPLETLY forget about the millions massacred, strved or murdered all in the name of collective government.

Bush Hysteria...it's all the rage! Catch it today and continue your life in paranoia!

Quote from chanoman315 :I think that Fernbay Gold is designed to go in only 1 direction

Quote from mcintyrej :What makes you think this? I think this is one of the tracks thats brilliant in both directions.

I have to agree with chano; it feels unnatural.

Someone needs to buy lerts S2, so he can analyze each track in lertsvision©. You know, have him smoke 2-3 bowls of...uh, stuff, a bag of crisps, and off he goes.

Quote from breadfan :In the latest series of Top Gear, in the News segment, Jeremy always said "I've searched on the internet and found this..." and at that moment the cameras cut to such a view that you can't see what's on their studio telly. What is it showing? Does anybody know?

Why did you make this thread? I thought it was BAMBOS job to cover all Top Gear related issues. Plus, unlike him, you do not have a poll.

Shame on you. Shame, shame, shame....

Quote from major_syphillis :Also, getting a racing seat

Why? I would rather, when playing LFS*, sit in a seat from a...what is that from, a Caravan? than in a hard racing seat. A more comfortable seat means less fatigue, which means more concentration with the game.

You don't see everyday office chairs** made from a Sparco Torino.

*Obviously, if I racing for real I would have an appropriate seat.

**Don't bother posting pictures of the Recaro/Sparco office chair, 99.9% of people shopping for an office chair would not buy one.

Quote from Lynce :
A few words about future of the articles:

There are 19 cars in Live for Speed. there are more in future, perhaps.

With one car I can do special editions. In one edition I can do, Skins, New interiors, new colours, New Style, new engine sound, etc, etc.

Only 3 complete set for one car: 19 - formulas (No addons for formula cars)= 15 x 3(addons per car)= 45 Articles.

Comparative with similar cars.

All GTRs, GTR with 490 hp and XF GTR and UF GTR= 3 Articles more. And add TBO Class.

49.

LX cars. One more

50 Articles.

Articles about cars in tracks, Layouts (Top Gear Style),etc, etc, etc. Maybe 20 articles more?

70.

And formula cars: 74.

LFS Tweak? Maybe with help.

What is the limit?

The time and imagination.

Do you like this? Really do you like Live for Speed?

Alright, so you have nineteen cars, which could theoretically cover nineteen issues. May I suggest a layout template?

Monthly feature:
This could be about an important patch, a big race event, a revolutionary add-on.

Car of the month:
Like I said, nineteen choices. Give some back history, interviews with people who have mastered said vehicles, tips and tricks, best track combination for said vehicle...

Meet a fellow racer:
Do a feature on a prominent racer every month.

Corner by corner guide a track:
This could really come in handy for people.

Hope that helps. Boring as it sounds, people like predictability. Stick with a template and reuse it every month.
